- Ever wondered about the history of surgery and how it developed into today’s modern practices? When we picture a surgical scene-sterile room, bright lights and clean surgical instruments-patients know they’ll be safe. Although, long ago, this was not always the case.
Join Rasmussen College in this “History of Surgery” as we explore surgical techniques beginning in humanity’s earliest days (and when barbers didn’t only chop off hair…) all the way to modern and safe surgical practices of healthcare today. Learning about the history of surgery might even inspire you to look into pursuing a degree in the healthcare field!

The old Indian man, Sushruta didn't stitched back nose, he created a nose by removing a piece of skin from forehead and carefully putting it in place of old nose. Yes, stitches were there but there is a difference. Patients were supposed to do multiple follow-ups, so that the nose is made perfectly like a real nose. He also advised all instruments used in surgery to be boiled in water before using to clean them. So, we can call it unhygienic by today's standard but it was better than other part of world where same instruments were used again and again without cleaning them thoroughly. He also created some 120 surgical instruments.
man is a genius
Maharshi Shushrutha _ The father of surgery ❣️

my teacher told me to look at this video. It was quite interesting
U have a great teacher.
Our teacher tells us to watch those boring videos with poor camera and sound quality
You didn’t have to rhyme. We just wanted some education.
Ha ha ha! 😁 dude

yea thats why I almost disliked the video lol
It sounds like a Dr. Seuss production
tbh with you and it sounds mean, but yes: I thought it was an educational video instead of a Dr.Seus audiobook. I didn't really learn anything
Indian surgeon susutra uses herb like morden day anesthesia as much powerful as anesthesia
They were probably using weed to bribe a person so that they can steal his kidneys
@@nick_gure991 bribe, witch, crusade, robbery, rape all are came from western not from eastern part

That doctor towards the end with moustache and putting on gloves - is that Dr. Thackery from the tv series 'The Knick'? xd 'cause it dangs look like him :P

You mean Abu al Qisim al Zahari
Actually he is born between 930-1000 , While Sushruta Born in 800 BC . That's the reason he know as father of surgery .
Shusrut 600bc bro
@@deepakpradhan9904 Egyptians invented surgery way before sushatra did
The use of opium poppy and other herbal remedies as anesthetics were often used in the past. With enough opium in your blood you can loose all feeling.
Copium
There is something called in indian terminology as "marma" points in our body, by handling them you can kill pain!!!
Gruesome poems like are fine, I'd share it with colleagues with just a cup of wine.
The prophylaxis against surgical infection had been known earlier by the Assyrians (in northern Iraq) then by Egyptians, Greeks and Indians.

I wanted to use this in a project until I noticed the stupid rhyming.
I'll be honest I didn't learn shit....sorta like if I went to this University
I don't care about all the freaking rhymings, I just came to see the history of surgery
Rhymingggggg
My 6th-grade teacher that treats me and my classmates like preschoolers is making me watch this even though I passed each question of the assessment perfectly
Maybe one thinks you look at it to subjectly...
This comment was posted two years ago and now I have completely forgotten about it, turns out this teacher was obsessed with hitler and abused her students
The rhyming 🙄
The rhyming is ridiculous. Please stop what you are doing. Literally the most annoying narration in the video I've heard in a long time.
