In this video I test what happens when you spray a superhydrophobic substance like Neverwet on water. Will it make water become waterproof? Then I show you how you have actually seen waterproof water..In fact you are made of waterproof water!

So technically, water CAN get wet, because the water can go inside water. This video is proof that water IS wet.

The spray needs to be at 65 degrees in order to work. It also needs time for the chemical reaction to take place. Spraying it on ice will instantly freeze it and not allow the chemical reaction to take place. Anything under 65 degrees will negate the chemical process, per the instructions on the can. Spraying it on ice will be a pointless experiment.

@@Radgamer880 well the initial suggestion was ill-conceived due to the fact that the instructions say it won't work in freezing conditions. Since no one else pointed out this obvious fact I did. Clearly everyone here that thought it was a good idea indeed DID need a science lesson to know why it wasn't a good idea. You included.
You should spray it on ice and let it melt.
Just what I was thinking. It may be necessary to put it back in the freezer, to avoid water leaking after the fresh coating. Don't know if Never Wet works at those temperatures, though...
Why would he do something like that? Did you watch the entire video? If you did you saw the flimsy film that he pulled off the water surface. What in the world makes you think that that film would be strong enough to hold the water from a melting ice cube? Come on people use your brains before suggesting some of this nonsense.

@@alifetomake what would happen is the ice would melt and that film would be left sitting on top of the water just like at the end of the demonstration in this video. It's pretty obvious what would happen. Go buy your own damn Never-Wet and do it yourself. No need to waste his time at and ours with a pointless experiment.

My theory before watching this is that the water and the water resistant spray are going to act like water and oil would.
Edit: I was wrong. But still you technically didn't make it water proof. Its just covered. That would be if I put water in a clear balloon and then poured water on top of it saying that it's water proof. I like the idea tho but I don't think it's possible to make water water resistant since they are the same substance.

"If you're wondering" and "I guess" do not mix well, like this stuff and water. It is thicker at the edge because it is hydrophobic and the only bonding surface it has is the plastic container. Also as you spray, it has a higher concentration around the edge because it is slightly enclosed. Just as if you had an empty container and regular spray paint, the edge of the horizontal base and vertical walls would have the thickest paint.😉

No but since it is an hydrophobic coating/layer you can always remove/dissolve it with some other non-polar or hydrophobic solvent.
