I hit the like button immediately after you shared that the Mattel team was blown away by your portfolio and wanted to meet you. I got a tear in my eye over here. That was awesome.
Another great video Yoshi, I enjoyed the talk, I especially liked the idea of a roller rink (in your future house) and all the other things to. Pixel Dan got me into MOTU also, and I ran with it, having loved the cartoon way, way back in the day. Can’t wait for your next video 🍿
That's cool that you paint your own toys. Always a fun thing to have something that looks like its source material rather than looking like cheap plastic. I've contemplated doing that with some of my stuff but I'm nervous I'd screw it up and have to buy another toy of the same thing. And the Mattel portion was awesome. You're really lucky to have such an awesome opportunity, you definitely deserve it!!
You should try custom painting toys, it takes practice to get good at it, but it’s quite relaxing once you get the hang of it. And thank you so much, it feels great to have very talented people see potential in me. I’m very excited for all that awaits me!
Lol! I love seeing people’s toy collections, so I’d love to 😂 I will say, Hot Wheels very rarely has openings when compared to other teams; I wanna say, 5-10yrs can go between an opening happening. So snagging a spot on Hot Wheels is a dream come true. The “higher-ups” on Hot Wheels are very picky as to who they bring on the team. They are willing to play the waiting game (literal years) to hire the right person for a position. There was someone who was hired about a year ago, and I was told that they have been looking for someone qualified to fill that position for over a year, and they finally found someone.
Again, one more video where I hear about an aspect of MOTU I also appreciate: I like those characters that look like they could have been part of those first legendary 8 initial characters. Those that are too far from the barbarian looks are the ones that don't catch my interest. I love that "delicate" balance of barbarian look with a bit of technology. I didn't know why exactly, and then I found many of the MOTU designs wehre inspired by Jack Kirby's style (specially by "New Gods"/"Fourth Worlds"), and then everything made sense on that respect for me, because I was delighted by Kirby's style when I was a kid, but had not made the connection between those 2 worlds.
And that’s why I think Clamp Champ is awesome! That perfect blend of the simplicity of the first 8, while also having a little bit of that technological element if wanted.
Hey Yoshi! I asked the MOTU/Clamp Champ question so thank you so much for answering that & your continued insight on MOTU! I really enjoyed this video, I feel I learned a lot about you & also found the video very inspiring, I really liked the journey to Mattel story, so good! ...Your right about communication, you excel at it, your stories fly by, because your engaging & we can feel your excitement & enthusiasm throughout. Good journey! For a next question, if you don't mind, can you tell us about your favorite MOTU vehicle & play set, what play features make them your favorite or help to inspire you?
Thank you for the great question and watching through the whole video, I appreciate it! I also appreciate the compliment on my communication skills, because I’ve done a lot to be able to communicate this well. I remember watching lots of tutorials on how to communicate with people and how to read social cues in high school, I practiced A LOT, until it became natural for me. I was very socially awkward before I decided to do something about it. I will be sure to add your question to the list for future videos!
@@collegetoycollector It's true! You shine in this video with all of your responses, & I look forward to the next one, thank you for tackling another question from me! =)
I’m a big Showa era fan of Godzilla but I would love for Mattel to make a bodybuilders collection with the motu line because I wanted to be one but life took over and I never made it back to the gym 😢
Yoshi when are you going to the next convention and I didn’t know you were a engineer I wanted to be a construction engineer and a architect but I’m a Jack of all trades and everything now is just a hobby 😅😂😂😂 you are a dream girl dream on my friend dream on 😂
I think I’m going to the Chicago toy show this summer. Yup, I am an engineer… or should I say, almost; I’m right at the finish line. I have big dreams, always have and always will 😊

I guess it’s sorta like rocket science but on a toy level 😂😂😂😂
A lot less rockets, and maybe a little less science lol 🤣

Here's a question, when did you build your first animatronic, and why?
Thanks for the question, I’ll add it to the list for future videos
@@collegetoycollector Thanks! I'm excited to see your future projects. You're very talented!
Can you do a Godzilla race track set because I never ever seen one made
