Hi, I'm an engineer who began making videos in college to share my interests with others (hence the channel name, despite having graduated XD)
I design products by day and animatronics by night.
Join me as I make videos of just about everything because I do this for fun ✌🏼
It’s really easy to be a decent human-being, take it a step further, and be a good one.

Homemade "Rock-afire Inspired Pneumatic Animatronic" Update 2: New Parts and Project Plan
A lot has happened since the last update. First being that I graduated with a bachelors of science in engineering! My friend who has been helping with this project also graduated. We both have already secured good jobs and are ready to be engineers in the workforce.
Atlas here is near complete. The last few months of school, my friend and I have been making parts in the shop. That is mostly what this update showcases. We have made some nice parts on the manual mill, notably that left arm K-hinge, which is inspired by the Rock-afire design, but all dimensions and modeling was done by me for my specific application.
Stay tuned for the next video update, because it should hopefully be the video that showcases him finished and working. It will also be a very well put together video explaining the project from start to finish. If you follow the channel for animatronic content, well be on the look out for more as time goes on, because I have some major projects being worked on amongst a team of talented people that I am both taking lead on, as well as contributing to. We're only getting started. Right now, you know of "Mesozoic Mayhem", but the others... that is a mystery for now! I look forward to being able to share more animatronic building content with you all. Can I write FNAF just for algorithm sake?

I REMEMBER WATCHING THE WHOLE PLAYLIST OF YOU MAKING THE ANIMATRONIC XD
@@GorillaPixles thanks for watching, I have a new series on it now, there’s been a lot of change!
It's sad to see how little attention this is getting, 570 views is way to low for what this is
@@DaxDaFox appreciate it, I’d like to get more views but I haven’t advertised much. I’m hoping to change that in the near future though

What's the point of collection the vintage figures if u don't get all there are lots versions of them im trying to get now it's expensive ive got like 50 and was about 2k already
I wasn't a he-man collector by any means. I had the cartoon series on DVD and the mini comics and newspaper comics hardcover collections. But never had any interest in collecting the figures until they released these toys and now I keep buying them. Not all of them...but most of them. I have several Skeletor and Heman figures but still they still haven't released what I would consider the definitive version of those characters.
@@joshuachristian5443 I really like the modern figures as well. I agree that the definitive versions of a few characters haven’t been made yet.

How would one start on a animatronic build like this I've been into the rock afire explosion for ages I'm a junior in high school who has a job in construction where would you go to buy parts and how would even begin on a Awesome project like this?
@lost_pilot thanks for watching, that’s very cool that you work in construction! Are you looking to go into engineering in college? I get parts from hardware stores like Lowe’s and Homedepot, and I get raw material with specific measurements from McMaster-Carr. I get pneumatic components from Amazon as of now, but I intend on upgrading them once I begin to put more money into this. They work perfectly fine for my application, but if you ever intended to make animatronics for regular use, then upgrading the cylinders would be a good choice,
Im glad to see you again I hope your having a wonderful day I can’t wait to see dook
Your enthusiasm is monumental. It's put you through college. Yet you still have plenty of gas in the tank. To drive it towards the next goal.
@@playdisplay1468 thank you for your kind words :) I have lots of new goals that I am working towards

Great work, the animatronic I've got pre-dates the CE and CEC style animatronics but this is still really nice.
@@jeezpeople3672 cool! I love the older animatronics as well
@@collegetoycollector Yeah, funland is a dark place at 4 am, thing weighed a ton
Great Motu content
@@mitchtaylor545 thank you, glad you enjoyed!
I think it’s smart that you’re using different colored airlines to distinguish which sides of the cylinder get air on default. I tend to get mixed up when troubleshooting since all the airlines look the same and are all going to the same places. Once I get time to “reboot” my setup with a lot of reorganization, I’m probably gonna start color coding things so it’s easier to navigate all the hardware and stuff. Love the mechanism you’ve got, pumped to see what you’re future projects have in store 😉
@@Sea_of_Waves it helps a ton! I’m able to instantly see which side will have the air by default, so I can make sure the position of the figure is how I want.
I predict that your announcement is that you are going to be opening up your own animatronic restaurant.
Do you why the Disney animatronics move a lot smoother than the Rockafire characters? Are the Disney character mostly servos? or hydraulics? I was curious how Disney seems to be able to control the speed and acceleration of each movement so precisely.
@@AntronGeese mostly hydraulics, they also have more complex mechanisms and their pneumatic ones are position control
@@collegetoycollector I assume hydraulics are a lot more expensive?
@ typically, hydraulics are used for heavier mechanisms. Disney uses it more for better control overall and budget constraints are not a big issue like it is for smaller businesses. The major disadvantage is that fluid can ruin cosmetics if it leaks.
@@collegetoycollector I see. I am trying to figure out how to get smooth motion that can accelerate and decelerate, unlike the CEI-style characters.
@ servos will give you the most control, what kind of figures are you trying to make?
Merry Christmas you did a wonderful job. Can’t wait to see that finished. It looks just like Aaron’s rock, a fire explosion🎉❤ great job keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see it move.😊❤
@@RGJubilee thank you, appreciate the compliment! Merry Christmas to you too
Has Atlas ever hit you on accident while you were working on him? Zoey from Billy Bob's Wonderland mentioned that Dook has hit her in the stomach a couple of times.
@@AntronGeese Atlas has not. Dook has hit me before, not hard though because I know he’ll move his arm out every once in a while.
Do you think it would be feasible to make an animatronic but using PVC pipe instead of metal bar stock? What kind of problems (and potential solutions) might I encounter? I suppose the attachment points between the PVC and the cylinders might wear out a lot faster. Any suggestions?
@@AntronGeese you can make animatronics out of pvc. Obviously the material properties will not be up to par with metal. If airflow is controlled to not move too fast, pvc could be fine.
I love these long-form videos.
Looking good! Can’t wait to see it finished! Great job, Yoshi! ❤️

Wasn’t aware we’d still be seeing these! Looking great.
@@S.J.C._Entertainment Yup! Just been busy finishing my last semester. There’s more to come, stay tuned!
I’m not kidding when I say this, I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone’s custom animatronic that is literally on par with the likes of CEI, Creative Presentations, all those companies. Heck this even beats a crud ton of VP’s characters too. I can’t express how pumped I am once the cosmetic parts start happening! And regarding the springs, I’m assuming they were intended to be for some sort of secondary movement like a hip shake or something? I know some characters from varying companies have a little bit of flop in some areas to make them look less stiff
Houndog was pretty on par with his last version on Dave too.
@@Sea_of_Waves thank you, this means a lot. My goal is to make my animatronics as professional as possible, to hopefully turn it into something one day. I have put a ton of work into this figure alone, and I’m happy to finally get to start showing it again. Like you already know from the previous video, so much of the work was all drawing, design, spreadsheets and CAD based for the last few months, so there was nothing to show. Now everything is starting to come together!
Nice job I’ve been following the journey since the beginning
@@LeperchaunStoryMofo awesome, thanks for sticking around!

With your achievements in engineering. I'm incredibly optimistic about the future for Mattel. Having animatronic action figures one day. Is a goal that I felt would happen by now?
@@playdisplay1468 Thank you, that means a lot to hear. This project was partially what got me noticed by someone at Mattel in the first place… a former Disney imagineer. And now I am a part of what I’d consider the most “engineering intensive” brand. I hope to do a lot of great things, both in and out of work. Thanks for watching!
@collegetoycollector I genuinely hope that you are the next generation. That changes action figures.
