I don't understand how the audience could ignore the fact that this method could save 15% of the marine fuel consumption. If any point of the speech deserved applause then this one!
*The bubble scientist is funny.* Who would have known that bubbles are that useful and funny :-) Passionate teachers can make every subject more fun and interesting. The bubbles under the ship hull can save a lot of fuel and energy. We must incorporate bubble technology into the shipping industry. Great idea ! We can be glad to have such people on our planet !

I saw Bubbles : Ted Talks and instantly clicked................why? I had to know how this Amazing Woman could possibly be on Ted Talks............... talking about (LOL) Bubbles?! I was Not Disappointed.
As a heat transfer engineer, bubbles formation is crucial in reducing the size of things for cooling in heating. Perhaps someday their study may enhance chip performance, air conditioners, heat pumps, and thermal solar systems to make a greener planet.
@@HaseoOkami That's funny coming from a person with a playlist dedicated to Trolls, Elves and Orcs. Shouldn't you be on another quest to find your last brain cell?
I can spell words out of bubble foam with my Bubble-Worm(r) invention. I even created some bubble foam characters for 3 of my comic book series I have published.
Another fun application of bubbles - in very cold climates where frost damage is common, engineers will deliberately force bubbles into concrete mixtures used for construction (referred to as air-entrainment), so when water in the concrete freezes (and thus expands), it has “space” within the air bubbles to move into. Without the air bubbles, cracking and therefore concrete failure can occur and cause disastrous effects.
This further affirms my love for bubbles. I make sparkling wine bc I love bubbles. My favorite thing is to open a bottle of bubbly and watch bubbles rise to the top in intricate patterns. The longer the time bubbles rise, the happier I am.
I recently have been so fascinated by bubbles no kidding, not bubble on the water but underwater bubbles, I'm really curious about tye science behind it
As entertaining & endearing as this lady is, it's not a good idea to insert bubbles into your bloodstream for delivering drugs. That air has nowhere to go when it pops & that messes with your blood pressure & your heart. If a bubble ends up in an IV tube for example, the patient can have have a heart attack. If you want a safe way to deliver drugs precisely inside the body using the blood stream, you want to make a tiny water-baloon of sorts that you can pop from outside, NOT a bubble.
You know you're a really curious person when you've watched a woman talking about bubbles for 14 minutes.
Exactly!! 🙋🏻♀️😂😂

I agree
Maybe the 15% is not impressive enough.
Yes, I was wondering the same, that is a huge amount.
@@dangtrieupham55 it is when youre talking about millions of gallons of fuel.
@@Jacob-sb3su Yes, man. But "15%" is not as clearly huge as "millions of gallons of fuel".
One of the hardest classes I ever took was inviscid flow theory, half of which was about bubble vibrations.
Hmmm good to know, sounds fascinating, what sort of background would get u up to speed that subject matter? I love bubbles
