Nice video! I'm removing my shocks today to install a add a leaf to lift the rear.
Have never done this before and it's nice to see a video before doing it.

I live in Michigan, and the cars and trucks here tend to rust a lot. All the nuts and bolts under the truck are rusty. So, when I tried to remove the upper nut using a crescent and a 14mm wrench, the little part in the crescent wrench snapped despite soaking everything in WD40 overnight.
Basically I had to grind the nut with the end of the shock in it.

How much torque are you supposed to put on the nuts.

14' pounds for top nut...74' pounds for lower bolt and nut👍

If that top nut is frozen with rust on the shock can you use an impact to bust it loose?

If your from northeast just take a recipercating saw and cut top nut off...never gonna come off that easy(rust)....and pre load shocks...A MUST....

I have an 04 Tacoma, with a 2" shackle lift. The problem I have is jacking the vehicle high enough to work on the suspension. Installing the lift was an adventure to say the least. My question: is it necessary to jack the truck up on jack stands to replace the shock? Or is it just a removal of the old shock, compress the new one then install.

Thank you for your inquiry. Usually on lifted vehicles you
would remove the old shocks and compress the new one and install it. We highly
recommend to look in a service manual for the proper installation of shocks on
your vehicle. If you have any question on our products give us a call at
      (800)544-4124. We are open 7 days a week from 6am to 6pm P.S.T.

So what are you holding with the other wrench at the top? What are the torque specs? Where did you use all the tools you said were needed? What did you do to jack and hold the Axle? Garbage video for information but well produced.
