Hey Hannah, idk if you're gonna see this message but I wanted to tell you. A year ago in winter I was struggling mentally. Your videos were of great help for me. They made me focus on positive things I learned about kittens and I see myself volunteering one day. Thank you for your work and videos
This is why fostering is SO important. I get people who are like "Oh I could never foster, it'd be too sad to see them go" but not only is it literally lfie saving work, it's also so so rewarding to raise a tiny thing into a full blown cat who will go to live their long healthy best full life with a loving family. Fosters are part of that chain of life! It's a wonderful thing. If you have the means, I implore you to at least strongly consider it within yourself.
Yes exactly! I am often asked how do I give them up once they’re ready. The way I look at it is that as soon as this litter is healthy enough , another litter in need can be fostered in my house. Plus the shelter gives you all the supplies and support you need 😽
I agree 1000%! It is so hard to see them go but I always have more kittens waiting and I know I’ll get to love and cuddle them just like I did the ones who just left. I also love seeing them find their forever homes! It also helps to know that if I keep any more I won’t have room to foster!
It's definitely hard. I let myself mourn them when they go back. There's definitely some that I think, "what if..." But in the end it's so rewarding letting them go and hearing their adoption story. I helped with that! I gave them their meds when they were sick and gave them warm cuddles when they were scared, and now they're not spicy feral puffballs and get to have new homes
Wine corks are excellent disposable enrichment for contagious kittens! When I worked in a shelter we had some folks who would occasionally bring in gallon bags full of corks and it was always a big party in the isolation rooms! ❤❤
After 3 years of asking, my parents are (nearly nearly confirmed) allowing me to foster. I can only do one kitten and its just for the holidays- but that is a kitten saved! Thank you Hannah it isnt just the kittens you directly foster that you save, its all the kittens that wouldnt otherwise have been fostered by others if it werent for your videos. Thank you!
This foster care clinic is amazing. All of these kittens are getting proper care. It's a phenomenal program. If I lived there, they would be getting help from me. I need to check around where I live to see what's out there for helping these fragile kittend. Thank you
I love that people care about animals just as much as they do other humans. There’s not only hospitals and shelter for humans, but there are also places like these, only they’re for kittens and for animals all around the world. And that’s so heartwarming. ❤️
I foster through my local shelter! During the years I’ve learned how to treat ringworm, give fluids, syringe feed and administer medications. I love how the Jacksonville shelter encourages fostering right away. Their team looks awesome and so thorough.
Hey Hanna .... I just want you to know that I appreciate you a lot... you helped a lot of people and kittens ... because of your help I helped a 1 week old kitten to survive ❤️❤️ I learned a lot of you... he is now 6 weeks old...eating wet food ❤️❤️❤️ Thanx a lot may god bless you
@supakittykatnumba1 It's called The Animal Foundation 655 Mojave Rd. It was very clean and had a couple separate rooms. Good luck finding your new kitty. God sent me one via the roof, a beautiful Flame Point Siamese, no chip, no lost posters. God Bless you ⬅️
I would love to help and foster kittens. There is just one thing that scares me, and that is trying to find forever homes for said kittens. I am new in my area, and extremely introverted. I have a horrendous time making friends, or connecting with people. Now if the shelter I was helping, helped me by getting word out about the kittens, that would be amazing! However, This video is inspiring, and pushing me to at least go talk to the local shelter and see if it is do-able. Thank you so much for caring, and sharing these videos with us all!
JHS does all the adoption work because they help with medical and charge a portion of the cost of everything they do for animals. Foster caregivers can recommend an adopter but city license desexing vaccines microchip and what they can do for supplies during care is provided by JHS I encourage you to try a pair of healthy but not ready for adoption to start The social aspect is interesting and I learn from people as I come and go The kittens have health check ups pick ups and drop offs hence the waiting room. I learn another bit of information everytime I try to interact and be open to new information
If you go through a shelter, they should handle all vet care and adoption for you. Fosters are there to help the kittens make it onto the adoption floor. If you have the means, I can’t recommend fostering enough. It is so rewarding and nothing beats getting kitten cuddles after a long day.
Wow - what a wonderful organization!! I foster through the ASPCA in NYC (where I grew up) and they have a wonderful program too. I love seeing how other cities are operating. Thanks so much for making this video. Also, I knew nothing about kittens (have only ever had adult cats) and I was set up for success from the moment I picked up my first pair of kittens. It's been such a life changing experience for me.
This is a model shelter... all of them should follow this much care and concern for their animals. This was a great video, enjoyed from start to finish!
What an amazing Kitten Shelter. Jacksonville Humane Society is awesome for taking such good care of kittens in their care and above all, encouraging people to foster so that together they can save more lives. ❤
Wow, what a fantastic program! Looking at those numbers really made me tear up. Wonderful people, wonderful ideas... let's spread this idea everywhere!
STELLAR. Thank you Lauren, and your coworkers for setting up such an amazing and organized facility. oh....and all those patients are ultra cuties. I hope they all have long lives.
After fostering bottle baby kittens from the local humane society here in AZ, it's impossible to not foster them. By spring there are so many motherless babes depending on someone to give up sleep to feed them every 2 to 3 hours, wipe their tushies, and keep them cozy and comfortable. It's so rewarding.
Those kitties are so adorable!! God bless these amazing folks at Jacksonville Humane!! This lady is absolutely amazing. You can tell she LOVES kitties so much!! 🙋🏽♀️🐈🐈⬛💋
Hey! You were in Jax? That's great! I love JaxHumane! They were so incredibly helpful when found some 4-week-old kittens in the drainage ditch behind my house. They had some initial health problems (that JaxHumane's vets stepped up and helped me with!) and today they're such adorable, healthy, and loving babies!
Wow, what an awesome kitten foster program. I wish they had a program like this in my state. I would be a regular volunteer employee as I am retired. You can find animal shelters all over the world. But l’ve never seen a program like this. I’m very impressed. 💕
We foster to give them a second chance at life. It's hard to let them go, but if we don't, we have no room for the next ones who need us. Enrichment, play therapy, and understanding each individual kitten or cat's personality are important.
Thanks for all your videos! I rescued a pregnant mama and was lucky to not have any losses or sick kitties (minus small eye goop that was quickly cleared up thanks to your videos!). So many thanks to videos about how to help kittens!
I'm so glad I decided to foster myself. Not only was it an amazing experience, but oops I ended up with my foster fail Maya. I may not have wanted a cat, but she was there when I really _needed_ one. Sadly, though, I've only got one room so my foster journey might be ending here.
My wife and I donate regularly to a number of rescues. There are so,so many. I have often been asked why we don't support homeless shelters. People can help themselves get a better life if they really want it. These poor animals are not able to do that, they are dependent on our help to survive. Rescue dogs and cats are truly grateful for human help, they show it each day. Breeders and pet stores could care less about these lost souls. Please adopt and don't buy your next furrball.
13:47 thats how ppl who have made mistakes in pet care should be treated instead of seeing their mistakes and keeping their mouths shut or even better lying about sth so that ppl will do it wrong over and over again
I can't speak for this shelter, but I foster for my township shelter and we generally have them until they're around 3 pounds to go off and be fixed. So how long depends on how far on they were when we get them. Usually 4 to 6 weeks is how long we have them.
Hi! I've been using my Dad's acounnt for, like, 2 years to watch Kitten Lady and actually wrote a letter. I'm a tween and really would love too but can't foster I want to know what I could do to help out the shelters near me who have foster programs?
Strays or abandoned animals often have lost some trust in humans, and babies are afraid of the large creatures. Going to the shelter and helping socialize the ones who aren’t adoptable yet is a huge service and can be fun! You might sit on the floor and read silently or aloud with some terrified critters so they see you’re not a threat. Being fairly still, on their level encourages them to approach and give you a sniff. When they decide to climb onto you, you can do pets! Or use a wand to entertain them so they associate people with fun, followed by treats and calm sitting. Etc., check with your local shelter.
Please help me! I’ve been bottle feeding a newborn for almost 5 weeks now. A few days ago he’s been biting down hard on the nipples and just chewing/gnawing. I’ve had to squeeze the formula into his mouth. He gets angry because he’s not getting it fast enough. He flails his feet and arms around as fast as he can pushing the bottle away and shredding my hands (use gloves now). He becomes frustrated and angry. I don’t know what to do. I understand he’s hungry but now he’s put huge holes in all his nipples. I don’t want to use more because a couple he’s nearly bit the tops completely off and I’m afraid he will choke. I’ve tried to get him to eat it from the bowl. He won’t. If anyone knows what I can do please let me know! He’s such a sweetheart and it breaks my heart to see him so upset desperate and frustrated.
I would think it's age based like most things with orphaned kittens. Vaccines tend to be 4 weeks before it's safe, flea treatments and dewormers can depend on the specific treatment to decide if it's safe at all or how much to safely use. That sort of thing.
I volunteer for The Dancing Cat in San Jose, CA. The Kitten coordinators pull cats and kittens from the San Jose Animal Care Center. They give them a better chance, helps the shelter with over crowding.
So, I have an adult cat that I've found outside. I've solid reasons to believe someone either kicked him out of their home or he somehow managed to get outside and was unable to find his way back home. I've been taking care of him since, but I need to adopt him off into a better situation as I am tok busy to show him the attention he needs. I'm unsure as to how to do that. I want him to end up in a safe home and would welcome any tips anyone may have.
This is how shelters should be! Hope all the kittens will soon have foster homes until they graduate to forever families, hopefully quickly!😊

Yeah! I expected to be sad when they went, but I was really just excited for them to move on and meet their permanent families :)

@daniaaldossary5055 thank you for sharing your story. Hannah’s knowledge and your success story inspire and motivate others to do the same.
Looks exactly like ours in Vegas. God Bless these beautiful little kittens and get them to a forever home where they will give love and be loved. 🙏💓
What is the name of your Vegas shelter? I am looking for a kitten and I live in LV.

Great work! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for shining the light on places like this! ❤
Great place. Pets bring us such joy. Wonderful to have somewhere little kitties can go to be looked after - in facility or in a loving foster home.
❤ hi Lauren blessings to Jacksonville kitty Shelter ❤
Kitten Lady should visit Furball Farm Sanctuary, if she hasn't already. It's amazing how much people do for cats!
I use to work at the Jax Humaine Society back in the Mid 90s
Aww, Babies🩷
Thanks for all your videos! I rescued a pregnant mama and was lucky to not have any losses or sick kitties (minus small eye goop that was quickly cleared up thanks to your videos!). So many thanks to videos about how to help kittens!
This was lovely!!! I would adore more spotlights on good shelters
I like the fact the kittens get microchipped right away. I adopted my boy as an adult cat as he was never chipped.
So informative! Great work!!
Thanks Hannah 🤗💕💕💕

Congratulations!
Great work and she's cute.
Great program!❤❤❤🙌🏻
I adopted my kitty from there!
I love this sort of stuff. Just donated!

Where can I find those great pictures like the ringworm faq and all the other stuff?

As a rule of thumb how long are kittens in your foster care?

@@luciferfaust Thank you for that.
How many years you keep old, unwanted cats?
In most programs, kittens are fostered from the time they come in (could be any age) until they're about 8-9 weeks old.

Sounds like he is ready for weaning onto solid foods. If he has his premolars (side teeth) he can have solids.
@@jjbee11 just kitten soft food, maybe mixed with kitten milk at the start 🤗
Wait, you can microchip newborn kittens? This surprises me.
