- Upgraded a friends Razor SX500 from 36v to 48v for $65.
4th battery for $30
48v lead acid charger for $30
2 longer bolts for lower bracket for $5
Reconstructed the lower bracket to mount the upper batteries. I used spacers (wood) under the bracket above the lower batteries for space over the battery terminal ends.
When first run it was 15mph and a final run of 21mph. Most SX500 and MX500 will run 16mph in stock form.

ONLY stayed with Lead acid because the 3 batteries were almost new.
UPDATE!!!
Charger pins did not line up with the factory port. Need to resolder the negative from number 2 pin to number 3 pin on the charge port on the bike. OR find a different charger.

how much more did the shunt mod help..lot more torque?
When you "overvolt", by adding 12 extra volts, you get 50% more watts (torque) and 50% more RPM (top speed). So yes. But not neckbreaking torque. It really will put a smile one your face. Make sure to rest the motor every 10-15min. It will get hot.

Dude, that's awesome!! These days that is cheap. I bought a few MX650 bikes 5 or 6 years ago for $40. These days those same bikes go for $250 plus. Plenty of options to make it faster. There is this video but there's also my mx500 videos. Check then out!

@@J6vxplayzyoutube that rear tire is a pain. But do able. I love the electrics because they are neighborhood friendly. My town does not allow the gas bikes.
I found a sx500 mc grath in the garbage container, someone left it right besides. No charger ,but I found one on amzn for $8 .
Hopefully I can repair it if not working.
