NO POWER IN AN ITALIAN HEATWAVE! | And Meet the Artists From La Stradina EP 246

- LUNCH RECIPE:
I threw together a tin of cannellini beans, chopped tomatoes, cucumber, arugula and some mixed salad greens, sliced red onion and later added some tuna. Mixed with some black and white rice, sprinkled with olive oil and lemon juice.
To find the artists on the Stradina, just head down to the beach from Piazza Mulini. Or if coming from the ferries, go up the church steps and it's right there!

Thanks for watching the video No POWER IN AN ITALIAN HEATWAVE!
I hope your elders and animals in the area have what they need in this heat.
In some ways I think the older people cope better with these situations. We grew up without air conditioning, computers etc.
@@janetcorey5102 But elderly people are more fragile, less physically aware, more stoic. And therefore more vulnerable to the heat.
Welcome to our life in South Africa. Two to 11 hours per day, sometimes 24hrs, or 6 days without electricity. Every day, every month, for years now. It also affects things like tap water quality and sewage. You learn to adapt, make a plan. Especially those of us who don't have the money for expensive gadgets and solar.
You shouldn't have to adapt, it's the 21st century & countries like South Africa, Columbia, Brazil, Ethiopia etc shouldn't be still living in poverty. When I listen to Harvey Schlanger & Helga Zep-LaRouche discussing how the UN is preventing the "global south" from coming online with the 21st century advancements in technology, its absolutely appalling that countries like GB, France & the US want you to live in abject poverty but expect these countries to pay for carbon taxes. Utterly appalling.
I feel so bad for you. I really do. I dont know how you live there with all the other nightmare stories that come out of there. I wouldn't feel safe unless I had money for a 24hr bodyguard.
I'm a fellow South African and couldn't agree with you more.
Cape Town viewer and fully agree with Carlo re: grid going down. Keeping water on hand in 5L jugs helps with water turn offs & restrictions here in SA (don't forget large JoJo or water barrels to catch rainwater for the garden). Using small solar lanterns to help with illuminating the night, cooking on gas or braaing over wood & having a gas heater, and a battery-powered fan can be a lifesaver depending on the season. Prayers help with everything else. For keeping up with solar and space weather news, no one is better than Ben Davidson of Suspicious Observers.
I do not understand why SA is like that, I thought it was a progressive modern country?
You're so very gracious, Nicki! We thank you and Carlo for the armchair traveling and Italian dreaming that you afford us each week!
@maruiacancer6 I'm so sorry to hear this. Hoping for a better outcome for you❤️
Well said!🌸
Hi Niki and Carlo. Always fabulous to see what you are up to in Positano. Here in South Africa we know exactly what you have been going through without electricity. We average about 8 hours a day without electricity because of loadshedding. After years of inconvenience, we have learned to live with it, but there are days when patience and humor just evaporate. There is always a silver lining and your vlogs make a difference.
load shedding?
Nicki, you have such a kind heart! I love how you always promote your local friends and establishments!
We take so many things for granted. Carlo, you are correct about the disaster should everything go down. Nicki, thank you for introducing the hard working artists and jewelers. Stay cool❤❤❤❤
No electricity is a scary thing, especially for the elderly, those who require it for medical devices, etc. I imagine the tourists were NOT happy either! It was so nice to meet some of the artisans there in Positano. Lovely things they create. YOU and Carlo have a lovely week, too, Nicki! 💓
Have you seen the young girl on TT complaining about having to carry her luggage and the electric going off ?
@@marywood6270 no! oh brother!!!
Nicki, I ❤️❤️❤️❤️how Carlo looks at you with ❤❤❤❤❤ in his eyes!!! It's so touching!!!👏👏👏👏
We live on a remote farm in Scotland and often get power cuts. During the Beast from the East we were cut off by snow for 4 days, with no power, internet and running out of food for us and our pets. We also ran out of loo roll and coffee!!! I don't know which was worse lol. We did get rescued however. On a happier note I have 6 more pages of A Boatful of Lemons to read and I have loved every page. Bravo Nicki, it was wonderful!!!
No coffee 😲😬🫣😂
Dearest,
Wow,
You will be in my prayers. Nicki, solar panels and generator. Bless you for sharing ALWAYS the real moments, and your resilience.
Lovely to see the local artisans and their work and know the items were created there. Glad electricity finally resolved.
Thank you for personally introducing us to the artists of La Stradina. I too have passed many several times over the years on the way to the many other shops you’ve highlighted. This September, I will stop and and look at their art. I saw many works that would make wonderful gifts that are portable to bring back with me. I have Nicki’s book and I am saving it for my “vacation read.”
Nicki and Carlo , thank you for a lovely Sunday video again . Always lovely to see the waterfalls , streams and the pine forest, Holly and Indie. Thank you for sharing the artisans , your friends and their crafts . Love as always from the UK xx
Lovely episode! You guys took such a positive attitude towards not having electricity. It’s so easy to take these things for granted!
Wow you and Carlo are so patient. When our electricity goes out in New England I get very cranky! Loved hearing the artist vendors talk about their experiences. Happiness and greetings from Boston, Massachusetts
Without the internet I would be bored shitless. lol
That's why I've downloaded some books, for just in case situations.
Love You Nicki & Carlo
Hope The Best For Everyone There!
Thanks For Sharing...All of This~
Every Day is A Gift...GOD Bless~ (Heavenly Joy:) Eternal.
Glad the electricity issue was fixed!! Can't imagine being without it for a while; really gives us all something to think about. Loved meeting all your artist friends and seeing their creations!! Take care and Ciao for now ❣️ 🇮🇹
Oh how I soooo enjoy your videos. They inspire normalcy and real life not the artificial lifestyles many promote on various platforms. Bravissimo!!!!
Hello Nikki and Carlo! I hope this message gets to you. My name is Mike, my wife and I have been watching you for several years. Every Sunday my wife would come down stairs and say let's watch Nikki! She loved you guys! Unfortunately, my wife passed 3 weeks ago . Her illness was sudden and at 58 years old we lost the love of our life! We were scheduled to vacation on the Amalfi Coast with our boys when she fell ill. I've decided to take my boys to the Amalfi Coast in August . I have the ability to gain dual citizenship in Italy and it was always our dream to spend half the year in Italy and the other half at home in the United States. I just wanted to share my story and tell you that you and Carlo are very special to Dawn and me. Thank you and God bless! Mike
It looks as though you made the best of your time without power. I salute your positive attitude in this. I think that it's good sometimes to be reminded of how overly 'plugged-in' we all are, but I do worry about the sick and elderly when it happens. You still managed to give us a beautiful video, and now I'm craving a fagioli salad and a stroll down the little street of artists! Here's hoping you all will have cooler days ahead and thanks for still giving us our Sunday treat of a video.
Very nice to meet some of the artisans and hear their stories. Being without power can be very difficult. So glad you were able to cope with it.
Heatwave in USA too 🔥
What is your temp? In Central NY it's almost 90 today
This heat wave is no joke !!! I'm in sicily and I'm dying 😂..off I go swimming in the warm ocean!! Yes the water is warm .. have a great day 😊
Ah bless. The blind cat that always follows you down the stairs is still alive! 🥺🥺🥺
Also, THANK YOU, Nicki and Carlo....for bringing us into your home and introducing us to all the people, places, food, and experiences that are a part of your lives. Your generosity of spirit touches so many.....Grazie mille! M
HELLO FROM TEXAS - Yes, being without electric can be either a big problem, or a small one - especially when you have animals and family around. Thank you as always for taking us on walks in the woods, and into the towns.....enjoyable always. I enjoyed seeing the artists in town, the creatives are special and gifted people. And if anyone can survive the hard times, it's the creatives. Glad that things got back in order. Take care you two, and God bless both of you and yours....now and always. You are in my prayers. Love.
It must be chaotic not to have electricity in Positano at the height of the tourist season! And the same for you local people, in this tremendous heat. It's good to see that you can cope cheerfully in spite of the drawbacks. I like it that you promote local crafts, sometimes they're just taken for granted like part of the scenery, but you give them a great personal touch!
Have a good week and I hope the electricity doesn't fail again🙏🙏🙏. All the best for the week!🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱
So glad your power is back on. Loved meeting some of the artists in Positano.
So glad your book is doing well and getting great feedback!!
Hope you have a lovely week ahead!!
Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
How wonderful the outage did not last tooo long. I went through one for five days and it was not nice, especially in the country with no gas/petrol available. LOVE to meet various people around town. Thank you to all the artists who participated and to you for thinking to share them with us. Love to you all. Wishing you electrical connection for the rest of the summer. 🥰💜💜💜💜
Long ago, when I was in Girl Scouts, we were given the challenge to work together to prepare a meal without electricity. Since then there have been times when I appreciated that introduction to preparing food or just functioning for a day or two without electricity. Fortunately I have not needed to use these skills for prolonged periods as a way of life, as many do. But living simply so others can live does seem to be the mantra that is increasingly more relevant to a greater array of populations, not only those who are not connected to the electrical grid.
Despite your power outage, I envy picking your own apricots! Living in the woods, we have lost power in the past from trees falling on the lines. We finally got a generator to fill in when that happens. But long outages are frightening and make you realize how dependent we are on these things.
Thankyou for sharing so much of your time and loved seeing the artists around you plus the way you keep your cool in the heat😂 its so good to hear Carlos thoughts on the power issue we all may face anytime. In my childhood the power went off a lot and my mum coped with us 4 kids so admirably but i know it was often hard too. Glad i have those memories to draw on as a child born in the 1950’s when we made our own fun. Mum draped wet sheets on the doors to create a cooling affect on hot nights and we kids slept out under the stars! Fun!!
We had No Power for 2 weeks, we lost all our meats, but some of them we cooked on the grill and we ate, but we take naps. Because of the Florida Hurricanes.
Thank you Nicki & Carlo for sharing with us the real life of Positano which can include no electricity resulting in not opening the refrigerator and freezer doors, and if one must to an absolute minimum. I enjoyed meeting the artists and artisans of La Stradina. Buona Domenica e Alla Prossima!
I’ve been in 4 Italian summers and it’s always pipping hot. I think it’s just normal. I love it.
No this year is the hottest.
It's alarming 🌍 Let's all give love and thanks 😊 thank you for your uplifting videos❤ baci !
After Hurricane Sandy we had no power for 10 days. Awful experience but at least we still had a house and actually had places to go and shower and eat. I used to heat a big pan of water on the bbq and would give myself a sponge bath. Made my coffee on that too. Better than nothing I guess. We lost food in two freezers and eventually our kitchen refrigerator blew out because the electricity went on and off so many times during transmission repairs. At least it happened in October not August so it was cool enough to sleep.
Yay! so glad to hear you're pondering another book! I thoroughly enjoyed A Boatful of Lemons. You truly have the gift of storytelling. This was a great vlog, love seeing all the vendors and their art works.
Thank you for showing us all of the artist! They really do lovely work!
I’m happy to know that electricity is back. But, as you said Nicki, living without electricity nowadays can be hectic, but not impossible. There are many things that we still can do without it. Water and food are the most essential and important things. Great video 😊
'Glad you all got through the outage. It's good to have raised the topic in the beginning of the video about dealing with these types of incidents in the future. It may become more of a reality than we wish to admit.
* I have meant to ask Carlo - are there many sharks or predators that inhabit the coastal waters of the Amalfi coast either in or near where swimming takes place?
Nope, I'm from a small town in Australia and I go to Positano every year. And that is the 1st thing I ask every time I go into the water. It takes me a few days to get used to swimming freely and diving off boats and My God FLOATING with my arms out, and not feeling I am shark bait. Which in Australia you are. They are everywhere only a few meters from the shore all year. My best friend and his cousin went out in the morning before work to do some spear fishing. They started swimming up to the boat, my best friend made it up first, then his cousin suddenly all he saw was that someone was trying to pull his cousin back into the sea. So my cousin yanked him in but the whole bottom half of him was missing. A great white had bitten off his two legs and into his torso. He held him, and called the ambulance and raced back to shore, but he bled out before he got there. So I personally hate sharks and I think they should be culled to a manageable number. But the government listens to the bleeding hearts so we have a people being taken constantly. In rivers now as well. So swimming in Positano is an actual piece of heaven. There is nothing like it. You are free to enjoy the ocean.
Blocking the doors and windows with heavy curtains helps keep some heat out. A dugout cellar of sorts. And pinch of sea salt in water each day to make sure electrolytes stay balanced. 😊
Hi Nicki and Carlo, not a good time to lose your electricity in that heat! The power services didn't waste too much time getting you connected again thankfully. Glad to see those lovely Porters working in Positano again, and loved seeing those talented craftspeople and what beautiful things they create. Makes me wish Positano was a bit closer to visit!!😊xx
The artisans there are so good at their wares!
Omg, Nicki and Carlo, you are so close to 200K!! Anyone that’s out there and watches but hasn’t subscribed…please do so , so we can get them over this TH-cam milestone and heading towards the next. I look forward to your videos which come through Monday morning here in Australia 😊
In South Africa, we are currently experiencing electricity loadshedding everyday - we are given a schedule when our power is going to be off (anything from 2hrs to 10hrs a day) - this has forced us to plan carefully and to seek alternatives like power banks, solar, generators etc - I feel your pain😢
Sorry. Didn't read your comment before posting mine.
@@debbiewoodburn6786 no stress😘
@@debbiewoodburn6786 haha, I also posted one! Traumabonding we are!
I’m glad you guys are okay during the power outages.
It’s difficult for people who are elderly or have medical condition .
It's no different to me than going camping and using a fire to cook over, you go to bed when it's dark and the sun is gone. Wake when the sun rises or the birds and wildlife come to life singing their songs. 😊
Oh, Carlo, you are such a gentleman to hold that burp in for Nicki. ❤
Loved seeing the market and vendors! Lots of very talented artists 😊
In two years time, the planet (collective) will have more information and be better prepared. Yes Carlo, life is shifting for all of us, and precisely why the "old ways" have to be taught to the collective. Our ancestors did it and survived 👏 ❤
Here in the south in the USA we have been without power for 11 days after a hurricane. You learn to adapt. It's not fun when it's hot. But you figure things out as you go and the next time is a little easier.
Thanks for another interesting video. We have power outages here in San Diego also, fortunately not very often. I know it’s a huge inconvenience and we always pray that it won’t last too long. It was fun to meet some of the local artisans and see their wares. Nicki I’m always impressed how you whip up delicious meals from things you grow in your garden.
I so admire your love of the artists and the food and the hikes and the ocean. It's all so positive. Yes, even sharing your power outage you made us feel part of and that made us happy when you got back the power!
Glad the power was restored. You were able to survive. I enjoyed seeing the artisans on the Strada. Wish I could be there to buy some beautiful things.
Where I live in the UK I get several power outages a year, though typically a couple of hours at a time so I can work around them.
My recurring thought about a significant EMP event tends to be about the fact that all the cash any of us has is stored in an electronic form, would it completely disappear for good and not be possible to reconstitute, aaaargh...😱
Thank you for this weeks episode, it’s good that you guys are not like in a high-rise building or anything like that, that’s when chaos happens when the electricity goes off. Also, that was very important that you introduced the designers and the sellers and that little alley down in Positano, since I always see sellers all over when I travel, and I never know if it’s stuff that’s coming from China that people are displaying or if they are local. That was very important for your viewers to know that. Love your episodes as always.!!
If I lost electricity on a Sunday, I would be completely lost! Sunday is when all my favorite TH-camrs upload all their videos. My family and I could empty the fridge and freezer, take off, and go to my family's camp. We have access to electricity there, but we would also take off and go into the woods for a long walk. Play in the vast field next to your camp. We could walk into town and play and the playground and go to the beach and stay there for hours.
Here on the Texas Gulf coast we have experienced almost 2 months of 100 degrees temps as high pressure has settled in. We pray everyday that we have electricity!!!! To live here in this heat, AC is a must. I've lived here all my life and when I was young we didn't have AC but it would be very difficult living without it now. Hopefully your electricity will stay on!!!
What a lovely way to make the best of your catastrophe. Reading in the news of the impact of the heat on Italy and then hearing of the impact on people we “know” - how we would miss our connected world if we lost internet long term! ✌️❤️🔌
I live in Northern California. Power outages because of storm or fire happen every year. The longest we endured was 2 weeks. You learn to be creative and it's nice when the grid goes down, the silence is golden. I truly loved the segment about the local artisans. Traveling is not in my near future but this almost makes me feel like I'm there. Thank you.
how gorgeous is Giulia! she thinks her engish isn't good???? please she is fantastic and fluent. what a lovely girl!
Hope you don't have any further electricity supply problems this week. Thanks for introducing us to the artists.❤
Hi Niki and Carlo, just loving all of your videos. I was in Positano in 2018 and will be there again in September. I love how Carlo is getting more involved with these videos as he is a great Ambassador for Positano. My Daughter and I have just got your book and can't wait to start it. Keep up with your wonderful videos as they bring much joy to a lot of people. I will be looking out for you in September. Love from Gail from the land "Downunder" xxxx
I am from northeast Alabama and grew up without air conditioning. However now I am older and live in the Florida panhandle. I could not physically survive the heat with humidity here in Florida but could survive well back in Alabama. We hope to build a cabin in the woods up in Alabama for holidays and vacations on our family land and after watching your video today I’m thinking off grid is sounding really good. I am glad they got it fixed for you and y’all didn’t lose your freezer food. Holly seems to be getting around slower…. Precious little pooch.
My son wants to move to Alabama, He now’s lives in Italy ,Any location suggestions?
@@phyld6491 Yes! My recommendation would be East Central Alabama between Birmingham and Atlanta. It’s a great location and land is very economical. Lots of natural resources. Nice country folks.
@@CherylAnderson0 very useful info. I’ll let my son know.I especially like the economical part.Thank you so much.
And yes. We are actually. We. Being planet earthy experiencing massive solar storms n flares. Right now. Heating up earth n our waters. So. Carlo was so accurate. And then I ask. Why does all your food look so delicious I can smell the fresh fruit from your garden. I say thank u lord for the power generator they bring up so many stairs. A. True blessing. And. Perfect to jump in your pool flop on the hammock with a copy of your wonderful book 🧡🔆💛😘🙏🏻🥰🥰💥🥰
A couple of things I learned, is always keep your freezer full. Either food or water in a jug. Full freezer last longer. Storage some drinking water. Board games are good, as well as hobbies.
Hi I love Positano’s community behind all the tourists you really show the real Positano and all it’s real charms thank you Niki & Carlo ❤
While reading your book , everytime Wendy speaks , I can hear Nicki's voice !!!!! I love it , the story plus the size print makes it a pleasure for me. Also , the title and picture on the cover.. Thank u , can't wait for the next one !!!! Love from the USA ..
So lovely to see you again guys, and so sorry about your troubles with the electricity, glad you have it back I know how it feels without it…good thing the pooches don’t know what is happening…see you guys soon!
So enjoying A Boatful of Lemons. Thank you. And I'm so wanting to know what's going to happen but not wanting the book to end. More please, Nicki.
I loved the artists! Good luck with the leccy!
get some good solar lights to put around your yard. If you lose power at least you will have lights. You can bring the solar lights inside at night for light if needed. I use to make fun of preppers. Now I would say I am a half prepper. I have a generator, 2 solar panels, and solar lights. I also keep several gallons of clean drinking water in containers just in case they may be needed. Get a small space heater. In case you lose power when it is cold the space heater will keep a small room warm. We can power the space heater from the battery pack which the solar panel charges.
Nicki and Carlo... you two are very patient with the power outage problems. Hopefully it won't happen again for many years. It was lovely to learn about the local artisans with their wonderful jewelry snd the very talented Antonio and his paintings--thanks for taking us down the paths of Positano ❤❤❤
Bravo! Nicki & Carlo for video today!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Life is full of adjustments!
Electricity world wide is a problem! The Grid is old & overworked!!
Happy you are always promoting local Artist & Lifestyle of Positano!🫶🏻
I am grumpy because my wash machine has been out for a week and still have prob two more weeks to get it fixed. Waiting for parts. Not earth shaking, but this posting helped me to appreciate everything else we do have have like electricity. In the summer this wouldn’t be usually to bad but we are plagued by smoke and hot weather caused by the wild fires in Canada. So this year a huge issue if this were to happen. In the winter it would be life threatening as the weather drops to minus 40 to minus 60. So sorry you are going through this. Maybe think about solar power.
We lived in Texas during Hurricane Ike and Winter storms that put out electricity for a week. There was no internet, phone, and electricity. It’s not easy to live without it.
As usual loving the Sunday video of what you have been up to. Currently reading your book which I am really enjoying and I will leave a review on Amazon! Love it when you go down the steps and kitty and doggies follow. Your videos provide a relaxing Sunday therapy 🧡🧡
Exactly! One has to prep! That's what I've been doing today. I live in Sweden and this summer we are fortunate to have a mixed weather 🙏 I do feel for all of the people and animals and nature suffering in extreme heat around South Europe. I pray it will be cooler soon!! 🙏🥥🧅🌶️🍅🥛🥛🍶🧃🍯🍞🥜
Take care of yourself and drink a lot of water!!
Thanks so much for sharing your local artist and friends. Had to cancel my trip to Italy due to COVID. I froze my plans for the future. Enjoy you ,your family and friends ,you help me continue to work in a major trauma center in the USA .
2023 and still have those probs in such a popular tourist spot GEEEEEE
Grew up not worrying about our power. All the lines were underground. Never had a blackout.Moved to an old house in the country, in PA. If the wind blows in the wrong direction the power goes out. Here’s the kicker, no water either, we use well water so no pump. Ugh! Sandy was bad 10 days. After that a lot of people bought generators. Oct. so no heatwave. There was one in 2003 I think that was brutal, 4 days in August. I showered at the pool club. They had power but the water in the pools was so warm ugh. We had the grill & ate out but the sleeping w/o AC is gross. Played lots of cards 😊
Life is real in all its ups and downs at the end of the day . Whatever part of ourselves we share you guys are loved never forget that and many thanks for sharing your time with all of us ❤
We were out of power for a month after hurricane Ian. You use solar lanterns, generator (which we ran out of gas and had to find gas for our car and grill. You can’t siphon from cars nowadays. Very challenging. Plus living with fallen ceilings. Only good thing it wasn’t humid. Did get reading and crocheting done.
You’re giving many gifts… In life…. Beautiful, to see you two, on the steps with all your animals who love you unconditionally, a great scene, your dogs and your precious cat .
You’re figuring it out, by your resources you have, using your garden, making salads, sleeping outside, checking on your neighbors… Not letting the panic take the control…. Patience, things will come together. Sure! It’s questionable, to think… what would happen, how would things be done… It is happening all over the world, with changes… We need respect our planet earth and the resources we have…
How beautiful, all the jewelry and charms…. May she have great sales, to come… Wow, on the paintings…. very creative. To all of them, taking the time to do the work, share with tourists day and day out… Great sales! To all…
You’re incredible! For sharing… that’s a beautiful gift. It brings a joy, a change into my hot day from Arizona 🥵🌵 To see and listen, what is happening in your world. Continue success on your book… Way to go! Wishing all of you, best wishes…. And a Thank you 🫶🏼✨
Hi from Cape Town South Africa. You have my sympathy regarding the electricity, water and electronic communication problems. Our loadshed (scheduled power outages) can be 12 hours in a 24 hour period.
Even without power you made a fab vlog. Thanks for the introduction to the artists on the walkway. We visited in 2010 and am coming back in October this year.and will definitely buy one of those fabulous artworks. Btw finished your book..LOVED it ❤
I feel your pain. In South Africa, we have load shedding every day where we have no power for 2,5 hours at a time. At the moment in winter, we have no power 3 times a day. When things get really bad, the sessions are 4,5 hours long.
You definitely need to have standalone solar and battery in that situation.
@@LaReynedEpee very few people here can afford that
@@adriannavanderpoll4745 I understand. It's become a lot cheaper, but presumably not enough to be affordable as yet.
Thank you again for bringing us along in your daily life...the good and not so good. Being without electricity in the summer is not fun but I am so happy for you all that it is back on again. Everything seems to depend on electricity. Thank you for featuring some of your Rey gifted artisans from your town Beautiful. I am a basket maker so appreciate all of the variations of hand crafted arts and the people who do them. Thank you and hopefully you have no further outages. Also enjoyed your salad recipe...I am going to make it for dinner tonight.😋👍
Ciao! I love how you guys make the best of a bad situation and still bring us interesting videos of your lives!
We keep hearing of the crazy heat this summer in Europe and the rest of the northern hemisphere! With us in a Winter now that really doesn't feel quite as bad as normal, I can't help but feel we are in for a scorcher too, come our Summer... looking forward to warmer months but aaaargh...
I am so glad your book is getting great reviews. That's fantastic! I will buy it when I'm back in the States, come this September or October. Can't wait to read it. The views of the surrounding scenery were magnificent as usual. THANK YOU. And, lastly, I just love the amazing art, jewelry, and trickets you displayed for all of your subscribers. Thank God your electricity was not out for too long. Years ago, in Sammamish, Washington, we had a blizzard, and we had no electrity for two weeks.
Nikki, You and Carlo are so thoughtful to showcase these artists, and how nice to here personal comments on them too. You could start an etsy store using your platform and share the profits..I haven't read your book but I am excited at this huge acheivement, you should be so proud of yourself as we are of you.
I'll skip the current affairs in Israel where I live at thd moment. Past days have been protesters in the heatwaves over terrible judicial overhaul the corrupt government is proposing. We will be having heatwaves these next few days 36°c..and I worry for the kitties who are outside. Im sure they know to find shade and eat at night but its still hard on them😢❤. P.s holly and idi bidi kitty looked so cute sitting around contemplating the electric failures. 😅😊. Much love to you all. Lia❤
I enjoy you videos so very much! Your homes and gardens are absolutely beautiful. Watching you every week reminds me so much of our trips to Italy….it is almost like being there! You are an amazing cook and, all of you are so fun and such hard workers! Thank you.
My family live in an area where power black outs & brown outs are common due to higher than usual temperatures and increased demand overpowering the power grid. The first year we lost the contents of our fridge & freezer so we purchased a small back-up generator with enough power to maintain the fridge & freezer and to plug in items like our electronic devices - the next year we upgraded to a solar electricity system and we have never looked back.
We are in an El Niño period that means three years of intense weather. It’s a good opportunity to plan ahead and to prepare a back-up energy source if you are in a position to do it.
My wife and I purchased a painting from Antonio in 2019 in that exact alleyway. We had it framed here in the U.S. and it hangs in our dining room. We love it.
Living in Florida, we are prone to hurricanes almost every year. We have been without power for over TWO WEEKS in the past!!! It's a nightmare as you can imagine. I prepare by keeping plenty of water on hand (freezing some of it) and all kinds of canned foods and other staples that can be eaten without necessarily cooking them. It's a way of life here. It's the price we pay for living in Paradise!
Agree on make preparations for electrical outages. A few years ago TX had a freak winter storm that dumped alot of snow & the power went out for many & heaters weren’t working & then the pipes froze & busted causing water damage to homes. My elderly mom lost power & was starting to get cold even wearing a heavy winter coat. My sister luckily did have power & was able to get my mom. So yes we need to prep. Best thing is to keep a positive mindset & help each other.😊
WOW. No electricity. Sooo hot. I'm glad its working again and everyone survived without any health issues. God Bless.
Amazing to have fresh produce outside your door - many don't have such luxury. Lucky you.
