Man I can’t wait for the next part , a little bit of everything on day one Eh bud . That first bird sounded like a king Fischer and I’ll bet it had a nest near by but I’m no expert. That’s some beautiful country you can hear the peace in your voice bro glad you made the time . Next week can’t come fast enough thanks for taking us along
What a fun video. Man, I hate those mosquitoes. I also always seem to let a ton in when I set up the tent. Poor doggo, scared of storms! Good for you to stick with your regular routine out there. Looking forward to part two!
Yes, when we did eventually make it out of the backcountry, I heard from my neighbor; on that Sunday night there was a tornado warning issued for Temagami district. So I'm just glad the thunderstorms were all we had to deal with.
Finally had the opportunity to watch and so so glad we did! First...$32.50 for a site....it should include a canoe valet or something WOW!!. We usually take snapshots of our maps too (glad you did). Was the water lower this season or is it always shallow? We havent tried the Ready Wise...do you love it? Cheers C&J
Yes, the "Temagami Backcountry Cluster" through Ontario Parks says the new fee is a "pilot project" but this is the third year now of this so called pilot project. This year they are having a hard time getting people to visit the park and even sponsored Camper Chistina to do a video on the backcountry park but I noticed she left the cost out. Not sure the purpose of this outrageous fee which wouldn't be too bad if you had a party of 4 which after taxes and admin fees would only be 10 bucks a head. But as a solo canoeist, it's outrageous! I don't even get a complimentary coffee with that which as you saw I forgot this trip which made it that much worse not having morning coffee. As for water levels, yes, parts of that river are often shallow but this year it was really low since it was so dry for the first part of the summer. Now it seems to rain a little but every day. Looking at the rocks along the side, I could see where the water height usually would be and it was a good foot lower than normal. And as for the ready wise freeze dried meal I picked up locally, it was "pretty good" but not as good as the OTG or Happy Yak ones which I find are the best. Now since you were late watching the first part, the good news is you can go straight onto part two which is now rolling.😎 Thanks for watching!
Landed would have probably been the 15 pound pike I caught ice fishing one year. But I lost a huge walleye about 36 inches long beside the boat once when it came up and grabbed my 12" sauger I had on the line sideways in its mouth. My net wasn't big enough for it and it got away. The only other huge monster I caught was a big Sturgeon one day which played with me for about 25 minutes or so before snapping my 12 pound line like nothing like it was saying; that was fun for a bit but now I'll swim away and snap this little line.
It was just off Dawson Point before you get around into Suttun Bay. My brother caught a nice Sturgeon at the mouth of the Blanche River where it comes into Lake Temiskaming one day which we obviously released since they are protected there. But it was just a little 8 pounder or so. Quite a few people catch them around the mouth of the Blanche if you were to target fish for them. We were looking more for a walleye dinner that day.

Yes, even with the storm I was like; meh, its just another thunderstorm. Little did I know what I would be up against down River.

Yes, the river seemed pretty easy up to that point. But down River the portages give me a bit of a challenge. Thanks for watching.
Awesome footage! Gorgeous country brother. Poor Tuck, my Ollie(may he rest in peace) was petrified of storms too. That was some good storms.

@@darrendavidsonoutdoors where did you catch the sturgeon Darren. I'm from Englehart by the way.

@@darrendavidsonoutdoors yes walleye has to be the best tasting fish as well as perch. Barbut is quite tasty as well if you can catch them.
