    I experience the issue with the hotswap socket pins almost every time I change switches and keycaps on my kbdfans tiger lite. I found that it happens less when I support the pcb on my deskmat whenever changing switches and keycaps. Annoying to disassemble every time, but it reduced the instances for sure since I was using a PC plate and flex cut pcb.
    Cool video on long term usage of the QK60! I too am scared of committing to layouts smaller than 75% since I regularly use the function keys but seems that it can be only a minor inconvenience to some.

    I have also had the issue of the hotswap socket not closing the circuit. My solution was to bend the switch's pins slightly down so when its put back into the socket it touches both sides of the socket. This has worked for about two and a half months now without any adjustment. It also can be done without opening the case if you're are feeling lazy.

    Love the video! Thanks for this. Want your opinion on the board. What are some areas you say it could be improved in terms of sound? I am tempted between this or a frog mini for my next 60%. Ofcourse the Frog is nicer, but $200 more nicer? not sure.

    • @AvinashKunjamboo
      @AvinashKunjamboo  ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries! Not having experienced the frog mini, so purely based on the Frog TKL, I think the sound from Geon's boards would be way "fuller" but i think they lean a lot more on the purity of the board's sound i.e no foams, definitely no PE sheet and whatnot. The QK60 would be a good pick if you want more in terms of customisability for sure, but the frog would be great as a nice sounding stock board probably!

    Great video Avi! I too own a wireless QK60 and I use it in primarily bluetooth mode. That switch that is under the shift key is actually to cut power from the battery to the rest of the board. Whenever, you do not have it bluetooth/2.4Ghz mode, it seems to turn off the bluetooth. I have used it in the past 2 weeks and have not had a need to charge so leaving that switch up doesn't seem to drain the battery much at all. Typically when devices are active, my USB hub will shine a line to show that it is an active device. My bluetooth USB Adapter seems to cut off (as I see from the USB Hub light) and will only cut back on whenever I type. Overall, using the QK60 in wireless mode is very enjoyable.

      Thanks man! Honestly I think it was just because of my Alu plate. If you check out my mate Akeynote's video on this board, he has a really good segment with soundtests of almost every config. It's hard to explain but it just sounds a little clackier rather than just stuffed to the gills with foam haha

    So the socket is often not closing the circuit and the bt switch is under a key. That is a no go. Thanks

    You know what's even better than HHKB ?
    HHKB with split-spacebars, like no-bt QK60 PCB offers. You can map arrows to WASD or IJKL and use them by holding FN by your left thumb, without actually moving your hand that much.
    I'm sad because I miss the GB, but I will definitely buy an extra. Such a good board.

    to comment on that opener,
    yea. That's one of the big problems with hotswap sockets and one of the reasons I do soldered builds these days.

    I just got my hands on a QK60 and I'm already having this issue with the spacebar... It worked fine for the 1st couple days and now it only activates after I press the spacebar 3 or 4 times

    Getting used to HHKB was so difficult for me. I can adapt to layers pretty easily, but apparently moving that backspace just ruins me 😂
