i have the 52" model, just got it about a month ago. Really loving it. Coming from a Ryobi ZT. There's really no comparison. The Ego is superior in every way! i only have about 2 acres of mowable grass. I typically have 40-50% battery left when i am done depending mostly on the blade speed. Two things i noticed -- when i got it, the deck was not level. the manual says it should be pitched forward 1-5 mm (difference between rear and front blades). Mine was pitched 20 mm; excessive. so i had to fix that. I also mow at about 3.5, so i had to adjust the anti scalp wheels. while the manual says they ship from the factory in the B position, mine were way up in A, and i was scalping even small hills because of it. It came directly from Acme Tools on a crate, so it wasn't like someone else had put it together. Came like that from the factory.
Interesting, helpful information. To be honest I’m not one to read the manual and I bought mine from Lowe’s which came pre-assembled.
How is the mower deck rattle on the 52” model? Is it as bad as the 42”? That’s really my only gripe or complaint. I saw on Reddit many put rubber sleeves around the metal poles for the deck that clip into the bracket to hold it secure and that helps with the chatter. I might try that and make sure my deck is leveled. I also didn’t mess with the anti scalp wheels and probably should put them in the lower position given I also cut fairly high above 3” so they never actually come in contact with the ground.
I’ve found there is a big difference in cut range as well going down to 1 blade speed to the default 2 blade speed it turns on at. During peak spring growth you probaly won’t get the most fantastic cut going full speed on cut level 1, so can either bump it up to 2 then, or honestly, with as much grass I have and how fast it grows in spring, I have to cut again 2-3 days later so it’s good enough for me to avoid having to charge up a second time.
Have you also mulched with the 52”? I saw the mulch kit is a bit different which isolates each blade, instead of the simpler mulch plug on the side chute that the 42” has. I’ve read that some people say that isn’t the best design as the blades can’t really help each other mulch.
I'm an injured veteran.I bought everything that ego makes Except for the broom And snow blower because I live in Florida. I'm happy with the lawn mower that I have. I spent extra money for the one that I'm using. The problem is that I have to keep going back to the v. A because my foot keeps bleeding when I walk. I was thinking about getting the writing one. But it doesn't go up in a hills.That's almost $7000.For something that don't go up on slight hill It's only one hill. I don't know what the grade of it is. I cut part of the front of the lawn yes, today but then I had to stop to make sure my foot wasn't bleeding.
My property is on less than a third of an acre. I wish I could get some help from ego. All the items were purchased at Lowe's.

U should consider buying the nexus power station. With all those batteries its a great addition. I have it. Its great when the power goes out
I had looked at it, but I already have a 1kw portable battery backup with 2kwh inverter for emergency power during outages with ability to recharge directly from a solar panel, 120v ac or 12v dc that I had bought a few years back (prior to this).
We recently got an EV now so also looking into solar and battery backup that would actually be meaningful for daily power requirements. I’d rather have an extra panel over a nexus in all honesty for the same cost.

Yes, I do use this snowblower for my driveway. I got a pair of aftermarket skids to raise it a bit to prevent picking up and throwing a ton of rocks. It’s worked well, and if it has a conventional driveway it would perform phenomenally.
Leaving it in eco mode leaves more than enough power to chuck the snow for the vast majority of my driveway to where I want it and far enough so you don’t have to re-throw it. Any conventional / standard width driveway will not be an issue at all. Only around 10% or so of my driveway (between garage and barn where it’s very wide/deep) do I have to be a bit more strategic of where I throw the snow or have to re-throw it (unless I ramp up the power which will shoot it at least 50ft as advertised, but at the trade off of using more power).
If you’re only going to have the 2 7.5 AH batteries it comes with, it will do most people’s driveways in one pass, aside from potentially blizzard like conditions. If you have larger batteries it will last even longer, or ideally, having 2 pairs of batteries is ideal, as one set can be charging while you’re using the other set to essentially clear snow indefinitely.
Good review. If you lift the front up to remove the blades for sharpening. How heavy is it and how high can the front be lifted before the rear of the mower touches the ground?
EGO suggests removing mower deck for blade replacement. It’s actually fairly easy as you just need to remove 2 cotter pins and unscrew 2 electrical connections for the motors. Then just push forward to slide front hooks off metal bracket and it’s free. Re-connect in reverse order after removing and replacing blades.
When I was REALLY lazy I just lifted the mower deck as high as it would go, and could fit my Milwaukee battery ratchet tool and socket underneath to remove the blades and reinstall. Not tons of room but it works.
What I’ve actually found easiest is just reversing onto some car ramps and raising the mower deck all the way up (video thumbnail shows this). Allows for more room to replace than trying to lift from front (given the hitch hits fairly quick), it’s also very heavy to try to lift from front and I don’t have a jack. Find the car ramp method more stable / safe given all the weight sits on the car ramps as well.
Can you show the skid plates on the snowblower and then how it does with the gravel driveway? I got a gravel driveway and all sites say you need a three stage snowblower for gravel. Thanks if you do. Good review.
It has skid plates that come with it which you can adjust. But they’re not super long in length or able to adjust very high.
You can see a listing of the skid shoes I have here. They just go on each side and can raise the lip of the snow blower a few inches to have it skid above the rocks.

How is it on hills? Any slipping? Would you recommend a larger deck for hills?
First cut with my Z6. Don't get the bagger. Clogs and fills too fast. After I took off bagger...awesome mower.
I love the mower. Mine makes that squeaking sound also. Any thoughts on where it’s coming from?
The rattle is from the mower deck where it connects / clips to the front metal support bar, as well as where the metal hitch pins are in the rear of the mower deck if you go over bumps (albeit not nearly as bad as the bar).
I’ve read some people try to cover the metal bar or contact area with rubber tubing or something to prevent the metal on metal rattle.
Aside from that I also have some squeaking in one of the rear wheels. When it’s wet out it goes away, but will come back a short while later, especially when hot.
Sometimes shooting it with a hose can help (not sure if lubrication issue or if a foreign object stuck in there).
I can’t find a video on this mower over dense grass.
I live on canal and have irrigation and have st Augustine grass. Would love to see how it works after you put in irrigation
If you’re following the 1/3rd cut rule I don’t really think it’s going to be impacted much, especially if you use side chute or bagging and don’t mulch.
Even when my grass is absolutely roaring with growth in early spring I get pretty good cut longevity out of it, but not the full 3 acres (although, I also haven’t tried cutting it then on cutting speed 1).
I’ll try to shoot a follow up video cutting more dense grass or actively showing a cut so people can get a better idea of performance.
I have the same mower
Use the same battery configuration u used. I can can mow my 2.5 acres of flat land. Usually under 10 percent left.
Yeah that sounds about on par as what I’m getting here under ideal / most efficient conditions (cutting speed level 1, max movement speed to allow for maximizing cutting distance, grass growth back down around avg from early spring explosion).
I find that anything above cutting speed 1 really impacts mowing coverage though. If you leave it on the default blade speed of 2 I can typically only cut between 1.5 and 2 acres of my 3 total in one charge depending on conditions.
Interestingly, I don’t find similar dramatic drop between blade speed 2 and 3, so I actually typically pick 3 in spring to provide better cut quality and allow me to go faster.
With that said, if you ramp it up to max blade speed and meet a bit of consistent cutting resistance, I may only get about an acre out of it.
What is the width? Could it fit through a 50” gate?
My ESteer 42" has had an error code 401 issue since hour 1 (9 total now) and haven't been able to resolve. Have you had any dealings with EGO CS? Have done the software updates and "calibration" of steering wheel with no resolve. Any help would be appreciated. DD
Are you still within the return period? If so, I would just return it and get a new one. If not, contact EGO and coordinate a service repair.
I did have to do this as my mower was delivered dead on arrival. In hindsight, I wish I just returned it for a new one, but because there was limited stock at the time I had it repaired. Originally said it would only take 1-2 weeks, but ended up taking almost 2 months…
About that hitch for the gorilla cart. Where did you get it?
It comes with the Ego Z6. The gorilla cart handle flips around to use with a hitch or with the handle. A metal bolt and clip just lo through the receiver to keep it secure.
Attach some Solar Panels to the Mower and use it as a Powerwall.. Would last for a Day or so ? Well conservatively..
The batteries are 56 volt, so a 10 amp hour battery has around 560 watts of electricity. I have 4 of those and 2 of the 7.5 amp hour batteries (420 watts each). This gives me around 3kw of total capacity that can be utilized. Not bad, but won’t really cover much for me aside from lights and small electronic devices (keeping phones / iPads / laptops charged, etc).
We also recently got an EV (which I didn’t get onto that subject given how long video already was), so we’re looking into a more substantial solar setup with potential battery backup (or even exploring reverse EV to load / house setup).

Perhaps, thought there is the fact that a Freezer is 200w, Fridge 100w, TV 60w, the List goes on and on, so if the Power were Out and to keep Food from Spoiling or Necessary Communications, etc... with a Moderate Inverter, You could Power would is Necessary for 1-2 Days..
Just Throw the Breaker and use a Jump Plug from an Inverter...

Those big battery goes in chainsaw too?
Yeah, the batteries are interchangeable with all tools in their lineup. Using a 10AH battery in a chainsaw is a bit overkill though and will make it a bit heavy.
I have other smaller 5AH batteries that came with some other tools I use in that. Or I also have the backpack link (which I usually use with the weed whacker or leaf blower) which will carry the weight of the battery on your back, with just a small lightweight dongle that attaches to the tool.
It’s basically the best of both worlds with a large battery because you get the super long runtime, but the tool is even lighter than if you used a small battery because it only has the dongle.
The only tool I don’t really use that for is the chainsaw, because it seems a bit dangerous.
So 13% left while cutting weeds. How much left after cutting grass
The only part of the entire property that is mainly non grass / weeds and doesn’t give it much of a challenge is the densely shaded area under the tees beach to the barn and my wife’s garden area. The rest of the property has a lot of grass growth and a conventional cut job to any other lawn (~2.5 acres).
I can try to make another video showing how much it cuts during a typical grass cut so you can get a feel for how it would perform in your situation.

No disrespect, but nothing special about Ego brand. They are made in China.
I don’t have any allegiance to the brand, and would prefer one made in the USA, but none of the other brands really offered what EGO offers in the battery electric lawn care market currently. Same battery in everything ranging from something as small as a portable light, to a ride on zero turn mower. The only other brand that comes close is Greenworks, but that’s also made in China.
