Am I the only person who wakes up on Friday mornings and looks forward to what this weeks sweet surprise Chandi has for us? Thank You Chandi ! For sharing patterns and tutorials on how to make them. Also for the inspiration you give with each pattern. God Blessings to you and Tim, ( I know he is behind the camera😊 making this beautiful visual happen. ) with your hearts desire this year and every year to come.
Never try using lace yarn before.. Fingering weight is the finest yarn I've used. Now I have this pattern, I would love to try . This pattern is so beautiful.
I have never worked with lace weight yarn. This shawl is georgeous and more challenging than my knitting skills. I like the fact that this shawl can be made in different lengths. Blessings!
Lace weight is my favorite yarn! I just finished a shawl for myself and am working on one for my mother-in-law. Thank you for the LIFELINE! I have several small children, and I cannot tell you how many times they lost my place, not because they were bad, but just because they were curious. My two year old picked up my knitting one time and sat in my chair trying to copy Mommy. She lost my stitches, and it was SO difficult because it was a lace weight yarn with numerous yarn overs and knit togethers.❤
Awesome colors. Your explanation of the colors was wonderful. I have not ever worked with lace yarn. And to be honest, my budget does not allow for expensive yarns. 72 yr old retiree. Love your channel and loved loved your hiking story. Gave me my giggle for the day. Thank you for your channel. Grandma Donna
Hi Chandi. Once again a very beautiful shawl and excellent tutorial. Your zodiac yarn is absolutely beautiful. I have never worked with that type yarn before. Thanks for sharing.
Patricia’s pattern is amazing! The pattern really does look like water! The colors chosen are amazing. I can’t wait to see the colors for the rest of the zodiac yarns! I have not tried lace weight yarn yet, but love working with fingering.
i like working with lace weight yarn because the stitches and pattern can be so intricate - thank you again for another lovely pattern - happy healthy safe sane new year
Lace weight yarn is my favourite yarn to work with. I thoroughly enjoy immersing myself in lace pattern, whether they are Shetland lace, Haapsalu (Estonian) lace, Ohrenburg lace, Japanese lace or any other pattern. It often makes me smile a little when people are so impressed because it isn’t as hard as they think. If you know your increases and decreases and yarn-overs, you can knit lace. From there on out, it’s just a matter of knowing where you’re at in your chart (a post-it note stuck underneath the chart row you’re working on does wonders) because knitting with a finer yarn isn’t any harder than knitting with lace weight yarn. In a lot of cases it even makes the stitches easier to see. A little tip on life lines: if you’re using needles with interchangeable tips, they often have a hole in the base where they screw onto the wire. Thread one end of some dental floss through it and tie a little knot. Start knitting and the dental floss will thread itself through your stitches. Once your row is done, push the stitches on your needle tip past that knot, untie it or snip it off, and there’s your lifeline all threaded through. 😊 I’ll often use this dental floss trick for any time that I need to put stitches on hold as well, like for top down in-the-round sweaters where at some point you put the stitches for the arm holes on hold as you’re knitting the body of the sweater. Most floss is blindingly white and therefore contrasts nicely with any yarn. It slides easily and doesn’t felt into the yarn. It’s cheap and easily sourced. A small dispenser of floss easily fits in a project bag or sewing kit.
What a beautiful video and a great start to the new year as I plan on getting back outside more to hike and camp and this video along with the pattern was just the incentive I needed to get back into the things I love. Happy New Year Chandi and staff and for this beautiful pattern! 💙💚🧶
I have used your alpaca silk lace yarn before and I’m looking forward to using this yak silk lace. I enjoy the thinner yarns and smaller needles, my happy place. So glad when I found your website and yarns, no shop here for hundreds of miles. I adore your enthusiasm for the crafts Chandi! Knitting has been my Zen for over 55 years.
So elegant and beautiful. Those colors are just dreamy. I love a lace weight yarn 🧶 awesome for delicate projects. This pattern is so beautiful 🤩 thanks for sharing ❤😊
We travel in an RV and hiking is one of our favorite activities when travel. We’ve been to many national parks and actually live in Hot Springs National Park Arkansas. I’ve never knit with lace weight yarn but this design is amazing in your yarn. The new color collection sounds amazing!! May the new year bring much joy and many blessings to you and Tim. 🥂🎊🥂
Greens and blues are one of my fav color combos. I don't see much water living in the desert SW these days, but being a native to the Seattle area meant an abundance of salt and fresh water surrounded me. There's nothing like the crispness of a mountain stream to delight my ear and soothe my soul.
I’ve always loved to see things other braver knitters have done with lace weight yarn, but I’ve always been too intimidated to try it. Your yarns & patterns are so beautiful that I may be able to work up some courage to try it. Love your videos. Thank you!
Hi Chandi, I've never used lace weight, but fingering is one of my favorites. I love how delicately and flowing my projects turn out. Your yarns are works of art.
Your Friday gift of a free pattern is gratefully appreciated. If you have the urge for another RV trip come down to my area and experience the Big Bend NP in Texas. The spring colors are extravagant. And, the Sky! Oh, that sky ... During the day or on a starry night I'm sure you will find inspiration. Again, thank you and God bless.
I haven't had the pleasure of knitting with that gorgeous yarn - both the colours and their names appeal to me so much. Aquarian here for all the water inspired colours and names.
I have to say I have never worked with lace weight yarn before it looks so luxurious and pretty, I sure hope to try it soon. Thank you Chandi the shawl is beautiful.
I have worked up many lace patterns in my yonger days (with lace weight yarn).... the eyes are a little dim for that now but with a great pair of strong glasses I still make lacy things now and then... truly enjoy the final product! With 3 or 4 weight yarn it is so much easier to make lace patterns! You chose some very lovely colors! 😍💖
I’ve never worked with lace weight yarn but this pattern is so beautiful, I’m tempted to try it. The blue and green reminds me of hiking in our beautiful Rocky Mountains near Banff Canada, just an hours drive for me.
Lace weight is my favorite to work with- your projects look so ephemeral. Love. The colors for January are fabu. I love hearing the low lap of water in a neighborhood pond when I am out on my walks. I am stoked. So looking for the colorways in the following months. Have a great day.
I really love working with lace-weight yarn! I made my mom (92 years old) a scarf from lace-weight yarn. She says she gets compliments every time she wears it!
Hi Chandi, yes, I have worked with lace weight yarn before and love the almost weightless finished garment, as well as how little space it takes when you bring along on a trip. This is a gorgeous pattern, thank you for sharing. Happy new year!
That yarn is absolutely gorgeous 😍! I have never worked with lace weight yarn, but that yarn would be it 🤩! Thanks for the chance to win your amazing yarn ❤
Wow! Those yarns sound sumptuous! The shawl is beautiful! I have used lace weight yarns, but not silk or yak down. Happy New Year! May each day be more magical than the last.
Happy New Year!!! You started off with a BANG!!! This shawl is tempting!!! And the yarn is delicious. I've knitted with lace weight yarn working the Rhoswen shawl. Camarodonte shawl is waiting for me to get done with Anuket and Kaleidoscope. So, Flightengale will have to wait even longer. I'm hoping to get more projects completed this year. Thank you for all your beauty and positivity. Love and hugs.
I haven’t worked with lace weight yarn before but I have worked with crochet thread in tapestries before. I can’t wait to see the patterns that are created with this new yarn collection
The only time I've worked with lace weight was when I swatched for you Chandi!! It was a lovely experience, SO wildly drapey and soft ☺ I would love to create a beautiful elegant and flowing piece for myself out of lace ❤❤ beautiful colors and work on this pattern!!
I have been hesitant to try lace weight yarn as it is sooooo thin. But this project is lovely and I would love to try it. Thank you Chandi and all. Can't wait for next weeks pattern and live.
I have a couple of skeins of lace weight in my stash but have yet to knit them up. This pattern is beautiful and has me seriously thinking this may be the one to push me over into trying to knit with lace weight! Just lovely!
Happy New Year, Chandi and friends! I find your colour combinations so refreshing. This new yarn sounds very exciting. Can't wait to see your creations for 2025 🧶❄️🇨🇦
Ooooo so pretty... I would love to win these!❤❤❤ You are the reason I learned to knit, Wandering was my first Chandi project. Still wear it and get so many compliments on the pattern and feel of the yarn.
I made a beautiful tam for my Mom with lace weight held double. This year my to do list includes making hats for the family with the yak silk yarn. Happy New Year!
I never made anything with lace yarn, I would love to win these beautiful yarn! I just ordered the free pattern! I love Chandi, so generous with the free patterns and beautiful yarn! God bless you Chandi and Tim! Happy New year 2025! You’re both an inspiration, keep them coming! ❤❤❤
Hi Chandi. Pretty pattern. I don’t think I’ve knit with lace weight but I have 6 lovely skeins of yours so I’m sure I will eventually. Thanks for another lovely pattern.😊
I have not worked with lace weight yarn. I didn't think I'd ever do so. Of course, I also never thought I'd use 9" circular needles to makes a pair of socks either but I did so there's that, lol. Gorgeous yarn and pattern!!! Thanks, Chandi and Patricia!! Happy New Year!!
I have just recently tried working with lace weight yarn, but I have worked quite a bit with thread, so I figure it's probably very similar, The pattern and the yarn both are quite beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing !
I don't know why, but I love using laceweight yarn. It's so delicate and fun. And when it's heavy on the silk, the sheen in the FO is absolutely amazing. I also have some cobweb wool that I'm working with for some Shetland lace, which is an interesting experience! I often wonder about using small needles and laceweight yarn to make a pullover at a tight gauge, but I don't think that even I'm that patient.
The yarn is beautiful Chandi. I did several lace shawls and they are lovely patterns. I took your stitches and did the shawl a little different. Happy new year to you and your followers.😊😊
Your yarns and patterns are so beautiful! Can’t wait to see what you have for Scorpio. I’ve only been knitting and crocheting for a few months so I haven’t ventured into lace weight territory yet. Afraid it might turn out like your hiking adventure. 😊 However, Flottante could be the pattern that inspires me to overcome my fears.
I've never used lace weight before, because it kind of intimidates me. Having said that, I also hike (though I haven't for a while) and my funny hiking story is that I nearly fell off a rock scramble none of us in our group knew was there, so that was fun! Monica Wesley makes gorgeous patterns AND stitch markers. What can't she do, honestly....amazing.
I have made a few things with lace, and they are so pretty and flowy! I love the colors and stitches in this shawl. Can't wait to make one-thanks for showing how the stitches are made! I have to work hard not to stitch tightly. I haven't mastered stitch tension and sizing yet. Luckily, shawls don't depend greatly on guage!
Actually I wake up excited for the new pattern on Saturday mornings (being in NZ).
You are not the only person…I always looking forward for Friday morning for her new inspiration ❤
You are definitely not the only one. I have to use a great deal of discipline to get everything that needs to get done finished first.
You are definitely not the only one!

How gorgeous is this yarn and new pattern! I haven't worked with lace weight before, but I'm definitely willing to give it a try. 😄

Love working with lace weight yarn. It is so soft and scrumptious, and produces such delicate stitch projects with the absolute best drape.
I have worked with lace weight yarn quite a few times and I love it. I really enjoy all your tutorials. Thank you so much for all you do!
