try to repeat that challenge at another location. Did you realize that message at the screen about interferences? That seems to be the reason for that issues. I made a similar test with my mini 4 pro in the deep forest with much more difficulties and low light. There was no mistake and the drone made a very impressing good job. I think you should repeat.
Well actually it says “Strong environmental interference. Aircraft will change position and switch to a different shooting direction to follow subject.” It fails often to do both… it fails to change position. It fails switching to a different shooting direction. And especially it fails to active its main objective: To follow subject. So…
@@MK-Creator that is why I recommended to repeat that test in another environment. Just to find out if it is a technical issue or an environmental problem at that location. Other things you could do are: Reset the drone to factory settings. Calibrate the compass. :)
@@MK-Creator Well, it's exactly switching to different shooting drection, not behind, but infront, I saw mine doing this when I push it into shitty places. At the end the drone is safe
I had a similar opinion the Mini 3 Pro tracks more faithfully under many conditions, but it also would be crashing into things left and right in this environment as it can't see to the back or sides. It will be interesting what the Neo brings to the table in terms of tracking.
It seems to do the opposite to my mini pro 3 as I can't get it to track me from the front as it always rotates and tracks me from behind, but having said that it is amazing through forest and even tracking me on my motorcycle. I'm very happy with my mini pro 3.
I don’t like using the auto as it seems to be wandering aimlessly like MasterShots. I know there’s some programming by DJI but it’s just too random for me. Thanks for the sharing👍🙂
Hi bro not to detect your face in the active mode. Let it face directly behind you and it'll work perfectly for you. I tried it in the thick forest here in Ghana West Africa. I'm looking forward to see your next video. Stay blessed and safe all the time Amen ❤
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :) However that is not how it’s SUPPOSED to be… I’m excited to see how the next generation of minis will perform in this test.
Auto is useless unless in open areas. Otherwise, I also notice you experienced the same as me, that you have to be quick to click on GO after selecting Active Track. Otherwise you have to select Active Track again. When you started, you are showing the same I experienced (and crashed), it will start from behind as default and pulled away the set distance (minimum 4 meters). I have also tested Active track quite a lot and found that it is more or less useless in dense areas as the one you are testing in (it will not be able to turn from rear to front, because it is not enough room). To have a full use of any of the active track features, you need an open area. The Mini 4 Pro really does a poor job when the are obstacles close by. Thank you for showing that there are more than myself having these issues.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This is what I’ve said all the time since I first got DJI mini 4 pro a year ago that it is performing worse than the DJI mini 3 pro. I can’t wait to see what the successor can do 😎
Hi Mats, by using fpv controller 3 and using Manual mode, whats your max speed flying the Avata 2 in Sweden? Curious, because Im thinking about getting fpv3 controller, but Im afraid there is still a built in speed limit even in Manual.
seen other min i4 pro videos on active track and they had no problem , you should read whats it is saying on the rc2 about interferences you never talked about that once so i assume you never saw the message .
Well actually it says “Strong environmental interference. Aircraft will change position and switch to a different shooting direction to follow subject.” It fails often to do both… it fails to change position. It fails switching to a different shooting direction. And especially it fails to active its main objective: To follow subject. So…
Well… it has been like that since the beginning and I haven’t seen any improvement at all when it comes to this particular behaviour… so I don’t think so. One have to be aware of the limitations…
@@MK-Creator Gotcha. Do you still think its worth the purchase? i really wanted it over the pro 3 because it had more safety features. I don't know if I can wait longer for the pro 5 to get to costco which likely won't be until 7/2025. But curious your opinion. Thanks!
Wow definitely not even close to a flawless demonstration. Lost tracking, locked on to spot not you, switched to spot light, at least you were able to cover many malfunctions. Actually supriiaed it doesn't work better.
@@MK-Creator And thrilled you demo'd it. Newbies like me figure I'm doing something wrong when things don't work as expected (although certainly true in most cases). Loved your real-life results here...and the mini 4 pro cheat-sheets I bought last week or so.
Great video!! I am hoping an update will fix some things. My recent video had a crash!! Because of the way it followed me!! I am happy to see that I'm not alone!! Thank you for making this video
The mode does not impact anything while in Active track. I have demonstrated that in multiple videos. Active track falls back to Normal mode. Btw I believe I have actually never titled myself an expert… on anything. 🙄 I’m plausibly fairly educated in some topics, but definitely not an expert. Thanks for stopping by 😎
Don't you read its comments on the screen?! Each time you are complaining, it just told you there are too many obstacles for it to fulfill your task... This "test" seems useless for me. Sorry for being too honest. 😂

And it says it’s doing this to active that mission: to follow subject… so… back to the drawing board I would say.
I believe it is telling you on-screen what the issue is. "Strong environmental interference..." = Objects that it may hit / have to avoid in order to get behind you. In other words, there is not enough room for it to swing around behind you. In the first few days of my M4P I did a similar test in a confined garden, tracking me from behind. When I walked back towards it, it backed up in front of me until it had room to swing around and to the back of me. I'd like to see Nifty Mode tested. Not with my drone though... :)
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. However, there was many times where it’s expected that it should do what it did because there is no room, but there was also equally many times where there were room enough and it should have moved position, but didn’t. I also just filmed another video where it did a similar thing, and there were no obstacles around, at all… at least 500 m unobstructed… 😒
@@MK-Creator Thanks for your reply. The unobstructed test result is interesting. Did you get any on-screen message at all that time? I'll do a similar unobstructed test with mine. It’s hard to work out what you’re trying to achieve, it’s obviously not going to track proper in that scenario. Theees very very few people if any that are stupid enough to fly in there on auto. Thumbs down from me for this one
I’m sorry that it was not clear for you that I’m trying to compare the DJI mini 4 pro to how the DJI mini 3 pro performed at the same location.
