    There's an element of atmosphere vivaldi brings like no other composer. A sound so enticing, colourful and engaging. For me, Vivaldi is depth, purity and love, with hints of sad reality and the torment of the world.

    What a great period that was for the French school of cello playing. Just think: Tortelier, Fournier, Gendron, Navarra, all active at the same time...! All different, all marvelous.

    It's terrible not to understand the second mocement and call it boring when it's surely one of the most melancolic well written piece full of pattern and incredible harmonies

    2nd movement. When me and my best friend performed it, we put in an amazing cadenza between the repeat, at the end of the movement. I was principal cellist and had to do this. Had it planned beforehand. Went down a storm.Baroque music of this style was always flexible, in certain ways .

    TEMPO giusto, non piú leggero, moderato, il clave come un colpe staccato continuo, melodie con chiarezza e recoggimento, bravo!

    I respect all opinions. But to say that the slow movement of the famous Vivaldi concerto for two cellos is boring, it is an affront to art and taste, compared to a single work in the history of music in its kind. This Largo Vivaldi is one of the most heartfelt, beautiful and reflective of his work.

    • @RicardoPinto___

      " it is an affront to art and taste"... please, don´t be ridiculous!

      Boring???
      You don't know what is the cello..

    • @mayamanign
      @mayamanign 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ones mans art is another mans indifference or dislike. So I wouldn’t call it an affront to art and taste. I would just say to appreciate it if you love it. I do, but can understand how people raised differently might not. I do feel for them a bit as its an enrichment to my life to hear such sounds. But I am a lover of several different genres of music so my tastes are pretty wide.

But many people do not know about It, they are has not classic erudition!... I once played first solo cello in this concerto. At the rehearsals we had to play the second movement (which has only the cellos and the continuo - no violins) over and over again, because the others enjoyed it so much.
    Now please forgive my immodesty - I am by no means comparing myself generally to Tortelier - but I actually think we played this movement better.

    Wow. Snobby classical people really need to get their head out of their asses. What do you think composers did when they were not saving face? They could have probably slam any one of us in a drinking contest.
    I play classical music, and I change a lot in the pieces, otherwise we've just heard them way too many times now.
