    Very good idd. Thanks a lot.
    Also, you only need to do this on the monitor where the DCS window ends up.

      I'm not sure if this is still relevant. In the DCS VR settings you can now make it output to your whole screen without any warping and just use whatever to capture that screen. You can still use nvidia to oversample your monitor and use the downscalling in the monitor to get a higher resolution. But you don't need to crop and scale your screen like you're doing here if you do this correctly.

  • @SimDeck
    @SimDeck 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Can you explain how you record in VR. I can only record the monitor output and not full screen?

    • @Jabbers
      @Jabbers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think so, but the resolution has to be some aspect of 16:9 not just directly 4k. Also it may not work with all cards and monitors

    Hey Jabbers, quick question, how do you manage to capture DCS with a proper aspect ratio. I'm using Shadowplay and always get distorted captures. Thanks!

      @@Jabbers So I've tried all the things you put out, it works perfectly. Thanks again. Now the only thing bugging me out is that when my headset goes in standby, it reverts my desktop resolution to the recommended setting. I'm using WMR and a G2 btw. If I close WMR I have to restart the computer as the headset will show as not connected because of those resolution changes. Have you experienced the same thing? If not I'll try and find a solution anyways.
      Thanks again anyways, your videos were very usefull.

    4:15 Clicks DCS
    4:36 Loaded up
    Takes almost 3 minutes for me on a SATA3 SSD... now I'm jealous!
    Actually, most of the time, I could watch in the process monitor that DCS is loading up something at rates like 200KB/s until it actually gets going after ages. I wonder why...

    If anyone can help. I get the just of using OBS to record and i have great settings on DCS, but for some reason, when i watch the play back of my recordings it still shows the stupid vertical version of the DCS window in the playback or when i am editing. Really, you know how old this tech is. I've been doing this for a long time. You guys really need to learn you computers! P.S. same as on amd I have rx 480 and run it in 4K

    • @Jabbers
      @Jabbers  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Larry rosser ya but the desktop mirror is not suppose to do this, I knew you could do the 4K downsampled to 1080p, but under certain scenarios this doesn't change the mirror from rendering the native resolution of the HMD. So before you go saying we need to learn our PCs you should learn the new tech we are working with. I'll give you an example, on a 4K native resolution monitor you can't do this, the desktop mirror renders 1080x1200, so no one realized that this would work when it's faked.

    Playing DCS in 4K will kill your fps. I play on 1366/773

    • @Jabbers
      @Jabbers  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true, You cannot change the native resolution of the Oculus, setting it in DCS does nothing. I suspect what happens is the mirror is showing the unscaled version of the Pixel Density you choose, in my case 1.5. So that would be 1800x1620. I noticed no difference in fps doing this, and Ive had reports from others stating the same.

    • @Jabbers
      @Jabbers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This just increases your desktop resolution so the mirror will be larger giving you more pixels for obs to play with, SS or PD affect the resolution size of the mirror but if your desktop is 1080p then the mirror will only ever be 1080, they work together.

      @@Jabbers ah, i see. i have a 4k tv as my desktop though, and my recordings are still blurry 1080p. ah, but then again, i think i may have it set at 1080p when using vr because i have to unplug monitor from main hdmi for the vr headset and use a display port to hdmi adapter for tv/ monitro which can only do 4k at 30hz. so i think i have it defaulting to 1080p 60hz instead. which means using your technique should work for me.yay. im definitely going to try this out next time im recording then. thanks yo!
