    Now that DCS 2.9 is out on Open Beta, with it comes major improvements to the track replay system. Historically, track replays in DCS World have been unreliable... resulting in replays that were inaccurate. For instance, you may have completed an entire 2 hour mission successfully, but the replay may instead show you crashing soon after takeoff. Needless to say... this was incredibly frustrating. Especially as a content creator.
    But now that ED have fixed replays, you can now play DCS in VR at reasonable graphic settings for the best FPS, then once you save your replay you can CRANK those settings back up in non-VR mode and record your gameplay after the fact!
    I hope this helps other DCS VR content creators out there!

    tl;dr: track replays in 2.9 are REALLY nice now, so record your replays in non-VR mode so you can crank those graphics settings!

      They are not nice LOL. they are broken to the grave. Tracks replay are not working. they are out of sync like 100% of time. so this little camera feature just changes nothing.

      @@freedmt They are broken if you're trying to go up against AI that are still operating off a re-simulation. The player aircraft in the replay will do exactly what happened, but the AI you're fighting may, for example, decide to turn left instead of right. Hence 2:48

      @@Tuuvas yep, the latest build. Maybe this update doesnt affect old modules? I do my track tests with good old Flaming Cliffs and Su-25 T? And i am using virtual cockpit input, with no keyboard, mouse and hotas, maybe that confuses AI record as well... Just a guess...

    I was really hoping this would work for me, but unfortunately when I go to view replay it gets halfway to loading visualization and then DCS crashes :(

  • @Darrylx444
    @Darrylx444 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The track doesn't replay the original view zooming? Hmm, I thought it did, but maybe I'm thinking of IL-2 GB. Anyway, another huge benefit is the ability to reliably use external views for making DCS content now.
    And the new view option is pretty neat: RCtrl-F2, WASDQE and Mouse.

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yup! But something else that's interesting related to zoom.. you can change the Field of View slider to increase/decrease the FOV in the track replay. Meaning... while the VR recording could only show so much, the track replay can show WAY more. Even stuff not visible to the VR player!

    i am sorry but it didnt work for me, i am not sure if it happened to you as well, after saving the track in VR, i ran it without the VR and it was soo zoomed in that the video was useless, are you doing something which is zooming it out to the normal level. if so please please let me know

      Yup, all you need to do is press ESC while in the replay, go to settings, System tab, then change the FOV zoom slider

    Perhaps I’m weird, or I missing something, but why does the live recording look better than max settings playback?
    Also, what and how are you recording from your VR? The recordings look VERY smooth and clear. Would like to know more about your equipment and techniques

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There could be things like slight instability in the replay's camera compared to the original, more organic flow of the straight VR recording. Unsure how to properly explain it myself.
      As for making VR look smooth, this is thanks to OpenXR Toolkit's Over-prediction Reduction -100%. This gets rid of most micro shaking in the headset, making for a far far better viewer experience at the cost of feeling slightly drunk inside the headset.

    How do you switch back the cam to VR? When I start the replay, I can see my VR view. After changing to another cam, like F4, and I wish to go back to VR view… which keyboard is this?

    • @Tuuvas
      @Tuuvas  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is not possible to do. Once you change the camera angle/view, you kill the replay of the VR head movements. If you want to see your head movements, don't touch anything related to the camera.
      The only exception is the FOV slider in the settings menu.
