This Kid is fantastic. His rendition of "Happy Days Are Here Again" thrilled my soul. It was the opening melody in a seasonal variety show where I was the shows 18 year old Magician at the Olympia Theater in the seaside resort of Kilkee Ireland. I am 70 and a half now.
HOLY SAINT CECILIA! This kid plays by ear! What an inspiration. And on that old bird-cage action. What I'd like to hear is some of these rags played by THE KING on a harpsichord. A wonderful God-given talent matched with hard work. I'm in awe.
In German "Wochenend' und Sonnenschein". Danke, dass du die Erinnerung an Winnie lebendig hältst. Duelling pianos mit Winnie und Michael - das wäre was gewesen!!! Fröhliche Grüße aus Tirol ;-)
My Grandmother had an old pump player piano that us kids would sit and pump till our legs were too tired but a lot of those songs were on the player rolls. Brought back childhood memories:) Love to hear you play:)
1st song is Ain't She Sweet. Very Enjoyable medley Michael I am spending my morning going through your playlist and clicking "Like" for all your videos, I suggest everyone do the same. Support this great talent! Kudos from Ohio USA.Keep adding more!
The garter you are refering to was called simply a sleve garter. Back in the 1800's, men's shirts were made with a univeral sleve length, so the sleve garter allowed men to customize their shirt sleves. This would be rather useful to a pianist, for obvious reasons. By the way Michael, excelent as always!
Beautiful!! You nailed it!! My great-great aunt would be smiling now, seeing that the Ragtime she lived and breathed has reached yet another generation. Moosie
Dear "Kingofthekeyboard"! Your Piano playing and your choice of music brings a lot of joy to many people, I'm one of them. I keep coming back to your video's. Thanks for sharing your musical gift with us! I wish you God's blessings and greetings from Southern California.
Wow, you have no sheet music, playing by ear is difficult at best, but to learn the difficult keys for ragtime is amazing...we all just love to hear you play. Thanks for bringing these to you-tube.
I would love to see you play some of Scott Joplins work. The Maple Leaf Rag and the Entertainer in particular. I bet you could knock these songs out with as much style and influence as you do with Winnies work. Keep up the great skill !
I'd buy you a red and white striped shirt like the piano player in the old westerns in the USA would always wear in the saloon , , I forget what pant's he'd wear ,and a flat straw hat or a derby but he often had a woman's garter straddling one of his biceps , perhaps it was a token from one of the women who worked the bar ? All I can say about your playing is ....Outstanding !!! 5 stars !!!
@spirky I can read music but i cant read and play i have to learn it and play from memory i suppose if i practiced i would be able to do it another thing is i dont have the space for a piano
+C Deen When I get off of school in December, maybe I can create a MIDI of this song and you can learn it through Synthesia. However, I'm just so busy I don't know if I'll be able to finish it before Winter semester begins. Other than that, practice, practice, and more practice is the best thing for you.
I can understand playing the right-hand by ear, but getting the left-hand so precise simply by ear would be VERY difficult. How long did this take you to perfect? How many times did you have to listen to it?
Aside from your perfect presentation and execution of a perfect artist.. from the perspective a an amatuer piano tuner, I ask in all sincerity if your piano is somehow specially tuned? Many of Wini's pieces sound like she has a spiked upper range. May be the mikes or the mixers or just maybe piano tweaking? Just askin'
Hi KotK, Let me know if there is any music you are after. I hace a piano singalong bar and have collected all my life and have the dots to most of the standard singalong songs and am happy to scan them maybe for a pound a go to cover time in digging them out, copying, cropping, emailing etc. (Hope there's nothing wrong in me making this offer, but if I offered it freely a lot of people might take advantage and I could be copying for weeks. I'm certainly not offering to SELL these things.)

This Kid is amazingly talented at the Piano apart from being an amazingly handsome young fellow also.

I can understand playing the right-hand by ear, but getting the left-hand so precise simply by ear would be VERY difficult. How long did this take you to perfect? How many times did you have to listen to it?
can you play My Ding-A-Ling?
@janeway4eva Same here. I regret it sooooo much.
This song has the same melody as The Andrew Sisters' Oh Johnny Oh Johnny.
