The problem is it's super fun to play fast, and a fun challenge, but the proper pace has a really nice and completely different character and atmosphere which is lost when you go rush e on it.
Without the internet, geniuses (genii?) like this man (from Brazil!) would never be recognized and we would never experience the joy of their incredible talent. This is a definite POSITIVE of the internet. This is gold.
I played all this music as a kid on my huge upright piano (used to be a player piano but the mechanism had been taken out). I fell in love with ragtime. This was brilliant! Thank you
My dad loved Scott Joplin. When he developed Alzheimer’s in his mid-80s he moved in with me and played his CDs on repeat for hours, at high volume because he was hard of hearing. So they drive me nuts but also bring fond memories of Dad.
@@theparkouristad Going to disagree. I found the motion excessive and distracting and multiple times the reflection of the camera on the pole/gimbal appeared in the curio cabinet mirrors. I prefer multiple camera angles to achieve focus on hands, feet, and wide where possible.

Although playing by the tune, not feelings is neandarthalic I came for the sound. Piano is too serious, victorian era honkeytonk is too funny and salloon piano is perfect mix.
My wife and I love your videos. She plays classical piano, too. Last year, I took her to get a new Yamaha, but we ended up going with a Steinway instead because of the way the keys are weighted and how beautifully it plays.

I followed this guy 12 years ago on TH-cam when he was just a kid living in his parent's house. He played lots of "Saloon Music" back then and I loved his earlier Joplin pieces.... there were very few of us back in the early days of TH-cam... this fella made it big!

Scott Joplin wrote 100s of songs. Because he was Black a lot were copied/stolen from him. Also people put their name on his music. The law, back then, would never side against a White person. It was very important for Black people not to get credit for their work.

I always wanted my own personal piano player, suitably attired of course, that I could keep in a cupboard and summon when the mood dictated. Now I have found him, and can call for whichever composer suits my mood, I'm even prepared to put up with his saucy stares. Maestro, play on.

I like to imagine the piano player was off limits in the wild west.. Like everyone fights eachother in a massive brawl but one guy punches the pianist and everyone stops fighting each other and gangs up on that one dude.
