    Ah, that's interesting! So countries are gendered but cities have no genders, except the Hague or not? In English it has exception from rules.

      Countries have clear genders, that's for sure. However, for cities, it is a bit more insidious. But they do have a gender too!
      Though, as we don't use the article (except when the article is in the name like La Havane, La Haye, etc...) it does not impact the preposition before. It impacts the adjectives you may use to talk about the city.
      For example, Paris est belle. Though, in other countries, you may hear Paris est beau. I know, it is complexe. Even the Académie Française who loooooves to give an opinion when nobody asks them 😇, did not say anything about that haha.
      In general, cities are feminine but you may encounter exceptions.
