Bonjour. I have chosen a French tutor through Preply and I have had the trial lesson. I am 68 and I want to learn French again, I learnt before when I attended a French school in Lausanne aged 5 to 8. The trial lesson went well but I was very nervous. I have booked weekly lessons going forward as my tutor and I got on well. I made it very clear what my goal was, and a timeframe. As you say, this is essential. I am really looking forward to the first lesson on Friday and we have already agreed the topic areas for the first few lessons. You are correct in that engaging with the tutor with questions etc is really good, my tutor communicates with me very well which gives me confidence that the learning journey will be successful. Thank you for your videos.
That sounds like a match made in heaven. It makes sense that you were nervous, it is a very vulnerable situation for you not to be able to express yourself like you are used to. But it will only get better ;-)
@@cassyparlefrancais Thank you. I am very positive and hopeful that I can reach a good basic conversational level in French.
Super super helpful, given I'm in the process of finding a tutor myself :)
Oh I'm so glad 🤩
Pas besoin de prof avec tes videos :D
😁
J'ai une tutrice parfaite ! 😊😊
Maaaaw
Actually, the most important is to find a qualified and trained teacher, who can not only correct but explain grammar. Also someone who will give you homework and who will correct this homework off your scheduled time, included in the price. This is cruicial for the progress. I'm taking privates for 2 years and have progressed from A2 to C1.
I got this through iTalki, but through a community tutor. French teachers are way too expensive. Most of them are double what I'm paying now. I still get homework and lots of conversation practice.
I so wish had time for a tutor. Running a home of 5, leaves little left. Maybe when they have grown up a bit more, but will it not be too late then?
It's never too late! Why would it be? Now you have other priorities, makes perfect sense. Later, if learning a language, French maybe, goes higher on your list of priorities you will surely find a great tutor 👍
