Tried the 880 silicon in my mold, could push out centre poll in just 6 hours, and push the whole washer out in 12 hours. Good signs. I will leave it few days but so far looking good. Thanks again for Silicon suggestion.
Built pump and made my own silicone seals, following your advise... First session 2 score lug. Brilliant for a total novice. Learning each tide. Thanks for great vids.
Hi Dave I was able to get out and try my pump last weekend for the first time also took my eldest son we also took the pump I made witch I have just put blue seal's in. Bingo 200 in hour and half before that we was getting 30 in 3hours . Now he's saving up for another one of your pumps will let you know when he's ready possible mid September. Many thanks Steve
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I made myself a single washer maker years ago and used (Stick it Silicone Glue Tube) which is soft enough to allow compression without making it too hard against the inner bore of the tube causing friction and tiny air holes. I will try the No Nonsense 820 as its far cheaper than what iv been using so thanks for recommendations. Iv been using Tap washers at the top to guide the 8mm rod, but they dont last long. I may get you to take a look at my pump as iv not had good results as I did many years back, maybe its my bad techneque?
Good video pal.. noticed there was a flip flop on the table 👀works a treat up here but you can hear it sounds gritty sand down there.. worth a go pal 👍 try looking at 316 stainless for the main rod.. guaranteed it'll last longer in an abrasive environment 👍
hi mate that was not the best flip flop lol they are a mix of 316 and 304 shaft they do take a beating plus now i make them not a problem i think 3yrs to a shafts not bad😀hope your species hunts going well
There’s a load of ways you can do it , its like a science experiment to find the perfect pump for your own beach . I make two types, one for traveling ( general use on different beach’s types ) and one for a sand beach for home use . Your on the money for making it same size as outer pump diameter, just shy of an 3/4”in height and just shy of pump diameter. Where I find what makes a difference is the way you use washers also , If you use a few mill short of id of pump is good for a gritty ground and for sandy beach use a washer that’s less big and it curls the silicon slightly around the washer as you pump . I always use a leather cap to keep most of the material away from the seal ( cut it a few mm over the size of the pump, it will look something like an old bicycle hand pump seal ) . Get the leather from old thick rigger work boots.
Hi paul thank you for taking the time to post a great coment i have seen the tip with a bit of leather or wellie we are lucky the beaches around here are mostly nice soft sand a few places which are stoney happy pumping and tight lines👍👍😀
Hi i do it before i put the silicone in the mould and put vasoline on the thread so it helps release the thread . leave the thread just shy from the top while squeezing the silicone the wind in level .also wait 3 days after then wind the thread right out then just let it cure good luck
@@hastingsangler Thanks. Im looking for better ways to do it, the way you do has been my way too for some time now. I do get times where the silicon had not filled all the gaps. Looked into liquid silicon, but thats expensive.
@@beachuk38 in my new video i am now using plastic pegs works so much better and you can pop 1 out at a time to see if they have cure you have to take a bit more time compressing it im still learning but this new way is much better good luck

Hi Pete the blue seals are better than the yellow kev sent me some a while ago to test but still need lots of liquid my home made seal don't need none good luck

@@richardevans9061 hi Richard I'm a bait pumper lol who uses a pump pump over a fork any time only if the ground is good but what ever way you choose we both collect worms👍😂👍

Thank you for the tips. When im back on mi feet. I'll be building and pumping my own. 🧔 👍
hi hope your getting better thanks for the post good luck with the pump 👍👍👍
I make my washer from a rubber ball, the type used for dogs as they are quite dense and work very well

At what stage do you push through the 8mm screw into the silicon mold, or do you push it through right away and push silicon around it?

Lo mucker hope Ur good mate👍👍👍
Bought some blue ones off fleabay and they work very well still use the owld flip flop tho just nice to try something different
my friend loves the flip flop he tells me thats all he can use the sands that cause😀👍
I use the yellow decent suction but I agree got to keep chucking liquid in 😢
hi thanks for being honest is it the seal or the washing up liquid thats giving you the suction i have had lots say they are hard to adjust cheers👍👍👍

have you considered PTFE bolts in the mould, the silicone shouldn't adhere to that, might improve the yield?

Those yellow seals I had with my pump.
The pump is a DS Pump. The suction is amazing and never had an issue with it.

Good video dave as always could i get your details as i would like to purchase a pump
Hi Jack you can dm me on facebook hastings angler nice to meet you
Why not sleeve the bolts in the mould so when you take them out, the bolts cut into the sleeving, not the silicone 🤭👍
i like the idea but the bolts sit about 4mm down until i compress the silicone then i wind the screw the rest of the way up any ideas on what to use for a sleeve was thinking about straws cut down
@hastingsangler electrical insulation sleeving you can buy in different sizes or a straw whatever is easiest for you to get
Or make them with the bolts already in and sleeved, then add the silicone
How thick should the silicone washers be when making your own
Hi best results are when they are about 12mm thick too thin they snap and too thick makes them harder to pull
@@hastingsangler thank you for that my freind
@@DaveMielczarek if i can help i will good luck
