On the 8th of June, 2020, KQ2319 departed from Nairobi's JKIA, to Sharjah International Airport in UAE. It was a special flight for Captain Peter Maranga as he took to the flight deck with his son, Emmanuel Maranga who served as his First Officer.
Captain Maranga retired having spent a remarkable 31 years with Kenya Airways, during which he accumulated over 17,000 flying hours.
Capt. Maranga, hope you are ok...remember we were together at Air Service Training, Perth Scotland in mid seventies...!!!...your pictures next to that viscount aircraft and the cessna 310 Reg G-BAIM brings back memories...!!...am also retired but now am helping out as deputy director at soroti flying school where we both started in 1975...!!!...good luck in your retirement...!!..(am capt. Sam Madaba).
I love this recognition
As a black man am extremely proud of Kenyan Airways for investing in their own people. I would see KQ at JFK and I’d smile with pride.✊🏾
I flew with him back in dec 1998 at the time he was FO with my late dad flying the A310 at kq..Capt maraga thank you,I still remember🙏🏿
There's power in a spoken words, especially parents to their kids.
Legendary Captain Maranga....I remember the tour we did at Pride Center when we met him 👌🏾

Excellent! Should have shown the JKIA water salute
The troubles at KQ do not really reflect the industry, dedication and patriotisms of these Kenyans. Most Kenyans mean very well for the country and where they work. KQ is a national pride. The son here is still awed by his dad's precence. It shows he's been a great daddy. I just wish I could say the same
Nice he was in Kagumo high school. He once came to motivate us. Big ups.
