Flat-Moulding and Casting the Infected Knee Tutorial | Freakmo and Powdah Collab

  • My wonderful friend Powdah ( / powdahoz ) came to visit me in Perth and we decided to create this gruesome infected knee. This is the second of four in depth videos covering this makeup, going over how to create a flat mould and run an encapsulated silicone prosthetic. Subscribe to get updates when new videos are released: bit.ly/1QHJigm
    We found the image on the app Figure 1. It was a total knee replacement which got infected (MRSA) and the skin started to die.
    Our idea was to sculpt, cast, pre paint and apply together but we unfortunately ran out of time. So we sculpted and cast the piece together, then Powdah took one appliance home and will pre paint and apply his in Melbourne, and I have pre painted and applied mine here. Keep a look out on his channel for when he uploads his pre paint and application.

    I love the tip about using a heat gun between layers! It would definitely speed up the process.

    Why do you specifically use epoxy parafilm release before spraying the cap plastic on? And is there another option you could use in that step? What will happen if I don't do it at all? Thanks! Amazing results!! :D

    when putting on the cap plastic are you using the same compressor you use for makeup but a different airbrush and hose? or just a different airbrush? and did you use that same one when painting the arm prop?
    was also wondering what airbrush you are using and if it comes with that reservoir?

    • @maysmonsters4333

      I use something called Body Double, there's a shop called The Engineer Guy in Atlanta but I'm almost certain they can ship anywhere in the US. They have other silicone molds too.

      Smooth on makes a product called body double
      Or go to brickintheyard.com
      And they sell silicone with a pink catalyst its relatively cheap and it works same

    Does anyone know if you always have to add 100% of deadner to the mix or can you do less if you want your prosthetic to be firmer?

    • @bekkalitzner7227
      @bekkalitzner7227 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Poppy Fenton
      All depends on how soft you want your silicone to be
      If I want it more dead I don’t add deadener
      If I want real live skin feel I deaden it 100%
      But I use dragon skin by smooth-on and I don’t have to deaden my silicone

    Hey Freakmo, just wondering, what is cap plastic and where can i buy it in the states? also, would painting the silicone with liquid latex and then removing that work as a substitute? thanks!

    • @bekkalitzner7227
      @bekkalitzner7227 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      maxxam1a
      Cap plastic is a vinyl material used to dissolve silicone into your skin it can be purchased at frendsbeauty.com or fxwarehouse.com
      And the whole point of using silicone is it has the translucency of skin, moves and feels like skin.. It would defeat the purpose to put silicone on top of your silicone
      Also you can't use silicone while it's curing anywhere near latex because then it won't cure ever and you wasted material
      It you want use grease paints thinned with some 70% alcohol and it gives same effect as the alcohol activated paints it just doesn't have the same longevity

      No it needs that border to extend from your piece because that is what will blend your piece go your skin

      The cap plastic is basically just there to dissolve the edges to be smooth and you have to put some pressure down to actually dissolve the plastic
