However, because of her blindness, her other senses (hearing) will be heightened, therefore she can hear the stars twinkling in the night. She's the only one who can truly appreciate Luna's night.
I think that Snowdrop's star resonated with Luna because a lot of ponies just slept through the night she made every night. Snowdrop felt that ponies didn't appreciate winter enough, just like Luna felt they didn't appreciate her night enough.

I love her and Luna's relationship. She understood Luna in a way that no one else could. That her night was beautiful and lovely, even if she couldn't actually see it herself. I understand why Luna would have liked her and now I con't forgive Celestia for banishing her away from Snowdrop.
Even so many years later it's still a gorgeous animation and story. Always fun going back to these incredible projects fans created! Barely any other fandom could live up to that til today :>
@@silkypaws420 omfg hi! I am not the only one here.!… do you guys remember when tik Tok just appeared and random songs where popular..? And COVID wasn’t here!
I used to love watching this as a child. I'm 17 now, and this still hits hard. I'd be a liar if I said I didn't get slightly emotional while watching this again.
Im not blind (or disabled), but I can relate with Snowdrop through creativity, loving winter and also being lonely in middle school. This animation means a lot to me and it’s nice to look back at it. I’m almost 20 and cry every time seeing this… I still always appreciate MLP FIM for what came out of the show and fandom itself.
I also love Snowdrop and her creativity that touched Luna’s heart about winter and the night being underappreciated though it’s beautiful despite what people or ponies say about it. I have a learning disability and sadly, I am not a fan of winter, but I love summer and I see the beauty in it from the nice heat and beautiful nature. No matter what you love, someone might have the same feelings about the true magic behind it.
Here I am, at age 17, watching this again. I remember watching this whenever I was seven years old. And not going to lie, this little story always nearly makes me want to cry. I come back almost every year to watch it.
This always makes me so happy because of the unknown acceptance Snowdrop gives to Princess Luna. Its so sweet...and the tears Luna gets holding up the wishing snow.
I loved watching this as a child, i simply loved it. My original language isnt English, so i didnt understand much of it then. But now, its really sweet. She died, i didnt know then. There was much i didnt know. This animation is really beautiful, sweet, and sad, i began crying!
Her voice sounds like a mixture of Fluttershy’s and Pinkie pie. [In response to the replies, yes, I am aware that Pinkie pie and Fluttershy share the same VA’s! :). What I meant by the comment was that during most of her moments, she has a voice that is soft and gentle, just like Fluttershys. That’s why I think she and Fluttershy could be great friends, and relate with each other on their anxiety and nervousness during moments where they socialize. And she sounded like Pinkie pie in a few scenes where she was talking about snow/snowflakes. She has a passion for snow and it shows when she speaks about it, the clarity in her eyes and the fondness in her tone. In those moments, that’s where the similarity between her and Pinkie truly shine. This is just a personal opinion^^, so it’s totally okay if you don’t think the same! Stay safe everyone and go hydrate
I never realized that the snowflake falling at the end was the same one that Snowdrop first presented to the Princesses. I'm glad that I got to rewatch this masterpiece so many years later.
The ending always makes me cry, but what hits harder is the fact Luna couldn't say goodbye to snowdrop and I just now realized why and it made the ending even more sad! 😭😭😭😭
I would love to see a sequel detailing Snowdrop and Luna's friendship from the Centennial Sunrise all the way to Nightmare Moon. It could be so emotional and sweet.
I remember listening to the voice over of a fanfic of that actually. It was Snowdrop seeing Luna in her Nightmare Moon state. After Luna was freed, she felt guilt. And she wished to see Snowdrop again. They met in one of Luna's dreams. It was really good. I might wanna go back to it one day
I cried re-watching this. I haven't seen this since I was around 7 and the animation still holds up well. It's a real nice nostalgia trip for a lot of us
Frrr I just had nothing to do and was bored so I just search up my childhood. I hope everyone who watch this video gets a glowup and live a successful life ❤❤
I still cry every time I watch this. I felt Snowdrop was severely underestimated by others, and that even though she was blind she could see better than most. I thought it was sweet how she pointed out that a snow flake is like a star that you can wish upon.
You know at least someone gets my feeling it's nice to have someone to talk to and that really get that feeling that I'm missing but just can't complete
I never realised that Snowdrop was a blind foal and when I observed her body language and how she behaved, I can now obviously see her struggles and how she uses her senses. (That was because I was a little child that didnt easily notice things-)
I watched this back in elementary but now? I’m graduating soon and It’s been years. I remember being completely enamored by this video, i remember how beautiful it was and how i cried at it every time i saw it. Sometimes I forget how beautiful things like this can be, but this reminded me how gorgeous the world it, even in its darkest moments
I watched this as a child, all the way back when MLP was at its peak and to this day, no other creation has been able to continuously let me cry. This has such a special place in my heart and I love it so much
It is almost hard to believe that this animation is ten years ago. I went back to my mlp era and came across this, it unlocked a core memory in me, this will always leave me with a heavy heart
If I was an mlp me and Luna would've been good friends none of my friends understand that winter and night are the two things that probably kept me sane all this time⛄❄⭐🌟🌛and snowdrop would be a great friend too
This story is still wonderfully executed in every way. The parallels to Princess Luna’s desire to have her night appreciated are such a nice touch. This is the kind of story that belongs in the cannon show, but I don’t know if even the writers of the show could have come up with something this deep and beautiful. I enjoyed this animation as a child and it still holds up as an adult.
I can't believe that it has been 8 years since this was made. I remember watching this live, when they did a live stream the day of release. Oh man, it made me cry my eyes out. It still does.
that was....beyond words. I watched MLP since I was a child but only now as an adult im seeing these BREATHTAKING animations, AMVs and songs that FANS made! im shocked that masterpieces like this had been arround for so much time....

Fun fact, Lullaby for a Princess has a Snowdrop Easter egg! In the scene where Luna is crying in her bedroom, you can see a poster of Snowdrop’s cutie mark in the background :)
I remember finding this gem of a story and I couldn't help but tear up the last part when the princesses sent the last snowflake and it was her very first one really got me
The first few times I've watched this, I cried so much because this story was just so heartwarming. At the end my heart broke at seeing their last snowflake from Luna's dear friend Snowdrop fall from high up in the sky. 💖🥲🥲😢😢😢❄❄❄
"you can wish on stars" "imma wish to be able to see" "save your wishes for better things" "don't i need to be able to see" "lmao no you're to good for that"
DoubleDecker BeckerPecker For real, same though. I forgot the year I first watched this, but even after at least once or two plays a year (after the first time), I still cry. It’s such an amazing story for such a short clip. TwT
I always remembered this story from when I was younger and only now was able to find it. And now I’ve found it… it’s given me the most profound sense of nostalgia and sadness I’ve ever felt, and I know it when I say that it’s not just the inner child long ago that’s crying to.
I would literally always avoid rewatching this animation. Not because it's bad. But, because I literally cry every single time. It's still such a beautiful message it holds. I'm crying as I write this comment, it's just so sweet.
My post vanished for some reason: Snowdrop didn't die. She was an inspiration to us with physical disabilities. A legend, whom will never die... Especially for those of us whom understand her point of view. As one born with a severe hearing loss, I understand all too well what it's like to be taunted and made fun of because my hearing impairment and that I wear hearing aids. This video touched on a reality that naive and ignorant people can be cruel to those whom struggle with disabilities. Mocking and poking fun at me. I also had a condition called deaf speech, which arised from having such a severe loss of hearing from birth. No matter how much speech therapy I went through, I couldn't fix something that I was unable to hear. The official diagnosis wasn't finalized until I was 13 years of age; despite the many warning flags that would have indicated such hearing loss. By the time I had gotten my first set of hearing aids, I lived an isolated life, far removed from having any meaningful friends. I had zero social skills and I just wanted to be left alone. My pets were the only friends I had. I quit wearing my hearing aids and savored the silence because I didn't want to hear others rude tormenting comments. I think Snowdrop's greatest talent was to inspire those whom suffered from debilitating condition. This should have been thoroughly illuminated; albeit its difficult for a so-called normal person (Pony) to understand. Maybe it's silly to mention hearing the twinkling of the stars... But I'm sure there is some underlying metaphor that I haven't grasped as of yet. Splendid animation... Laura Faust would be proud of your work. For some reason, my post didn't go through. Many thanks for typing in notepad so I could copy and paste.
Ashley the wolf 2 OP meant metaphorically. The character isn’t dead in the hearts of the fans of the animation. Snowdrop “lives” in the people she inspires.
Rexlaninetales Celestia's Pet Fox Truly love this story. I wanted to add to it a bit if that’s okay, and maybe give a bit of insight on why the twinkling snow was so important, at least to me. I have clinical depression and social anxiety, so making friends was always really hard, sometimes impossible, for me. Not only that, my parents were constantly moving houses, so I was never able to make any meaningful connections with people. To some extent, I found the solitude comforting, and after my first couple of moves, I stopped trying to make friends with people. I retreated into myself, and my only comfort became music because, if I looked long enough, I could find music that could help me understand my feelings and fears. Music, as silly as it may seem, became a really important outlet for my emotions, and it was the only thing I could truly keep with me during every move, through every school, in every new town I lived in and every new person I was forced to socialize with at school or church. Music was easy, and it was always there for me. I was a forgettable person since I would only live in one place for a few months at a time, and no one would ever get close to me because I never gave them the chance. When Snowdrop said that the snow was just stars everyone seemed to take for granted, that she could hear them twinkle, that really hit home for me. I always felt like people would gloss over the things they didn’t want to take the time to understand using the excuse that it was seemingly “cruel and cold and unfeeling” when, in truth, you just couldn’t see the potential it holds. When I first watched about 6 years ago, I cried so hard after that statement because I never felt heard in my entire life at that point. People brushed me off as shy, anti-social, withdrawn, or just rude because I didn’t want to give them the chance to get close to me just so I could lose them again, and the people I did let in, my family and parents, would still brush it off as something I would outgrow. It was infuriating, so the fact that this little, made up child would do something as small as listening to something that everyone else around her despised, really made an impact on me. I don’t think ur gonna read this wall of word vomit, but it’s already here. I’m just gonna post it, so I hope this gave u a tiny bit of insight on why it’s so important that Snowdrop compared the snow to stars...
Aaliyah Hall I read it, and I found it cool, deep and I wish you are alright now Snowdrop got my feelings to, especially when Luna said "Goodbye" and the last snowflake, the first "star" Snowdrop has made, dropped out the jar For me, it looked like destroying the last memory of something very important Speaking from knowledge and a bit of experience...😪 (I lost a good friend when I finished elementary school and I only have a bunch of objects from him, because yes, it's a guy)
I first found this when, I was nine and I didn't understand much, although I did feel a lump in my throat after. Things really do get a lot better after you grow up. Sixteen-year-old me still cries at this. Thank you so much for making this. (I used to think this was an official short.)
Bro, even from 6 years ago; from when I first saw this; the ending has me crying, or near crying every time. It’s so heartfelt, and gives a whole new world to the world of MLP, even if it did end. I love this; and at least once, every year, I watch this to remind myself how far the MLP world has a become, and how much of a good fandom this is, and has always been. I always will enjoy this heartwarming story; and I will never get rid of that tear-jerking feeling at the end. This is precious, and I couldn’t ask for something more unique and heart lifting. Thank you. And thank you Snowdrop, always.
I got recommended this animation again after so many years. The ending so bittersweet and the story so meaningful. The detail and writing, everything was so amazing. I'm so happy to have experienced this once again with older eyes
Y'know. It's ironic. Snowdrop was the only one who ever truly knew Luna's night, but she couldn't even see it. Because to understand the night, to love it dearly, you don't need to see. That's what day is for. During the night, you listen.
Who says the day needs eyes? One can't even look directly at the sun! I was with a blind person once and they told me they loved the morning because it was the only time of day that gave you the hearty feeling of warmth. The pollens fill our nostrils and you can feel the sunflowers moving towards the daylight. So no, I disagree. Day itself is just as wondrous as night.
Emem There is a big difference between night and the day. The day is filled with joy, laughter, and playful, kind attitudes. As for the night is calm, sweet, peaceful, quiet, and serene. There is a huge difference between night and day and I won't lie but I usually stay up till 4 A.M just to see the stars.
@@gaminghuskie5530 how the heck, it's stated so many times. "She can't even see her hooves in front of her" "You don't need your eyes to see the stars" and more. 🙄
Christmas is nearing. And I am still coming back to this video. This video still hold very dearly close to my heart. I still enjoy this from start to finish. Thank you. Sad that I never got the chance to get a Snowdrop plushies. But it's okay.

I love her and Luna's relationship. She understood Luna in a way that no one else could. That her night was beautiful and lovely, even if she couldn't actually see it herself. I understand why Luna would have liked her and now I con't forgive Celestia for banishing her away from Snowdrop.

Im not blind (or disabled), but I can relate with Snowdrop through creativity, loving winter and also being lonely in middle school. This animation means a lot to me and it’s nice to look back at it. I’m almost 20 and cry every time seeing this… I still always appreciate MLP FIM for what came out of the show and fandom itself.
omg, i related to this animation too because of my childhood

Can relate very much
I also love Snowdrop and her creativity that touched Luna’s heart about winter and the night being underappreciated though it’s beautiful despite what people or ponies say about it. I have a learning disability and sadly, I am not a fan of winter, but I love summer and I see the beauty in it from the nice heat and beautiful nature. No matter what you love, someone might have the same feelings about the true magic behind it.

We need more blind, mute and deaf ponys like how snowdrop is blind
My post vanished for some reason:
Snowdrop didn't die.
Rexlaninetales Celestia's Pet Fox I think she died of old age tho
This is a long commet
Aaliyah Hall I read it, and I found it cool, deep and I wish you are alright now
Snowdrop got my feelings to, especially when Luna said "Goodbye" and the last snowflake, the first "star" Snowdrop has made, dropped out the jar
