We appreciate your editing, one of the many reasons we like watching your videos. I live next to the AT in Virginia and there is a guy around us who hikes in the altogether - known as "kilt man" as he is supposed to have a kilt with him, but most of us have seen all of him - underwear would be a treat.
Speaking about trash and waste, you gave me an interesting idea. Maybe one of the well funded trails could try experimenting with a small section adding vegetable gardens at trailheads. It would be interesting to have a sustainable trail, even if it was short that could teach best management practices for the rest of the trail systems.
It is going to be so nice when they get the Monon South Freedom trail finished in a couple of years. Deam lake and that IU campus are both right on it!
Nice one ! Better 20 spiders on your body than one car , the road was a litle on the dangerous side . Also i think it must be "team Masotaters" by now : hi Taters , welcome on the ADT again .
When you go into stores like Wal-Mart, do you carry your pack through the store, or do you ask to leave it at the service counter or somewhere else where it will be safe?
I always carry it. I don't like having my pack out of reach. If I start getting side eye I just throw it in a cart and that's always been ok except for a few times along the AT which has this odd don't bring your pack inside rule going on.
Oh No.... I could not get my daily fix of watching your videos as you are behind on editing. I worry more that something happened and you ended back in the ER. What's a few spiders between friends... better than ticks. Before I retired one of the young kids I was working with was complaining about how he was hurting that day and had considered not coming in. Told him if I did not come in to work because I was hurting then I would never come in
I think most people go through life firing on about 5 out of 8 cylinders. We're blessed if we get to have fun and do something personal fulfilling in the process.
And I'm curious. There are many times. like in this vid, when you have the option to move over a bit to some nice easy, soft, level grass to walk on yet (stubbornly?) continue to hold the line, literally, and walk the tiny paved shoulder with oncoming traffic that appears to have no option to move over. Why?
I will sometimes walk on grass but it generally isn’t very firm. So it takes more energy and I find I’m more likely to twist an ankle on an unseen divot. So usually I take the path of less energy aka walking the pavement and then step off as needed
Idea would be to try and make as much of a trip out of it as possible particularly since we’ve already seen the lower bit. So we’d try and find the highest point we could practically launch from
Also, I think there should be a federally-funded, state-administered universal garbage collection scheme. Toss anything, no questions asked, and it'll get processed correctly.
That might work better as a one-time event or one day a year rather than creating incentives for people to generate more trash. Gov'ts could also fund more volunteer organizations to pick up litter.
I would like to thank you for starting each video with a map. It is great fun to see where you are and all the adventures yet to come on your journey!
The maps are awesome and all thanks to the hard work of Dennis
I agree. Hate to be the guy to ask for more, but would also be neat to see a map of the US showing where you are.
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes Way to go, Dennis!
@@hankremer6606 He already thought of that. There is an inset map showing where the zoomed in map is located. Current map is the brighter red box
ok. I see it now. Maybe a bigger one? Dennis? Can make it happen?
Hey Matt….. my family is headed for Hocking Hills for a day of hiking thanks to your video earlier in your series. Thanks for the inspiration
Might want to think about going on a weekday. (unless you like huge crowds)
That was a very beautiful park.

The main IU campus in Bloomington is one of the prettiest in the country!
Love the "spiderman" graphic! Spiders, hug bugs, and mosquitos. You do attract them. Good mileage! Hike on. Tortoise

Never a truer statement than what you said about WalMart people.

Day 61. Random man in his underwear in the forest. Walmart freak show. Things to remember.
I hope you eventually stop at one of those places that says "cold beer".
I think the fresh air plus winding up and down trail are making for a more cohesive environment for healthy skin!
5:21 , do you do video editing from your phone?
Yep, everything is done on my phone. If you poke around my channel I made a video about the process a while back

Yes Matt, every editor sees the thing more than the average viewer. That's how it works.🤣
Back when I was making videos, I could spend 8 hrs. editing a 20-minute video.

I distinctly remember the Knobstone Trail. Up Down Up Down. I don’t think there was a single switchback
I think switchbacks are considered too west coast for some of these trails…
Finally caught up on the videos.
Thanks, taters will be with you soon hehe. ✌🏻👊🏼
That was a nice forest at the start but I don't think I could do the road walks with the traffic it makes the CDT look easy to me.

11:50 Poor Carl.
i would figure they would say.....oh like forrest gump? given your beard and red
If you did decide to paddle the Ohio, would you start in Pittsburgh, or further up the Allegheny?

@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes You'd probably want to start just upstream of Coudersport, then.
@KC3YCU thanks. Just added that to my notes for when I have time to do research
Carl died last week? I didn't even know he was sick. When is the funeral?

😎✌
With a side order of spiders? I hear spiders are a crustation and they are supposed to taste just like crabs so bite them back.
"Walking across the world"....Hummmmm
Without naming names, I'll say there are some really really bad NCT thru-hike series on here. I tried, I can't watch them.
