The Super 73 RX is one hell of an electric bike. It checks off so many boxes for what makes a great ebike in 2020. Great range, suspension, removable battery, comfortable seat, the list goes on. Really cool to be reviewing this 3 years after I reviewed the original.

Strange compression noise from the motor which im currently finding out and problem solving with the customer service team but aside from that very happy..doesnt effect my riding but is a bit noisey at times up hills at 40kmph!

It’s a nice bike! I feel like it’s not the “best bike” though. There are a lot more options now than there used to be. No hate. We as consumers are getting lucky though with a lot more options from Monday motorbikes, Ariel Rider, and Sondors. (Edit: also adding the Sur Ron and Onyx RCR. Haha thanks to the posters that called me out for forgetting them)

@@samsheffer Super 73's are iconic, haven't got the opportunity to ride the new RX series though, so my opinion may not be the most informed. I feel that Super 73 was a bit ahead of the curve in styling and performance, kind of like (even though I hate to use this comparison) "the Apple" of the E-bike world. Competitors are starting to catch up a bit though. The price to range/speed always gave me pause on the Super 73, I bought an Ariel Rider X-class (albeit with a 750w motor and not 2000w) but can get up to 34 MPH in like 5-7 seconds, front and rear suspension, and have range of 25-35 miles depending on PAS. And, I got it for roughly $1,400. Super 73 is more polished and has that customer support and based in the US which is the justification for price I guess- which is great, especially if you don't want to tinker. The two bikes I have my eyes on are the MadMods from Sondors and the Anza from Monday Motorbikes. Honestly would love to see you compare these with the RX when they finally release next year! Keep up the cool content- electric transport is awesome man. Ride safe!

30 miles of range is what stopping Super73 from popping in the Electric Bike market, it is just too expensive for a low range e-bike. Yes I said low range because there will be always the tension of running out of juice when you're out with the bike. Maybe a little price increase with an addition of a extra battery that comes by default giving maybe and extra 20 miles or so in just throttle mode cuz lets be honest, how many people are using the eco paddle assist mode for the "75" miles range with a low speed and heck if you manage to run out of the battery then good luck paddling this heavy beasty tank of a bike.

Scratching my head as to why they didn't go with a mid drive motor and a belt drive considering the price, the previous model used a mid drive model after all the logical path would be to upgrade suspension (check), improve the frame (check), and swap the chain for a belt drive to make manual maintenance virtually nonexistent. Shame, it looks super cool too.

Seems like a serious oversight to have the battery on top with so much empty space in the middle.
It restricts how shorter people may attempt to mount the bike with the battery being higher than the seat. It also limits the potential accessories you could use with the bike to have the entire front tube covered by the battery.
I could see if they had concerns over the battery maybe falling in rough riding if placed on the bottom of the tube or on side but bicycle battery mounts of dozens of companies have already established that that's not really a likely scenario.
Also "The app isn't a priority" if this bike is over 3k and has such a limited shit display you better believe the app is a priority, I was shocked at how little information and options that display supports.

Where I live the nearest blacktop is a two-lane highway almost a half mile away over roads of dirt and gravel that reflect the weather rather than welcome a bike tire. I wonder how the 73 would compare to a taller framed ebike with full-sized fenders in an environment devoid of concrete and blacktop?

How much better offroad than the ZX? Same tires as ZX? Good on soft sand roads? What is the the most powerful charger you can charge at? Any way to charge the battery with a solar panel or 12v?

I wish I had a better place to ride a bike like this. I live in the mountains of NC and I could probably do some trails but if you want to go anywhere here, you are going to be getting on the highway.

Can you change the throttle setting from the bike itself or ONLY from the app? (Can I put it in unlimited mode from the bike?) not going to lie, if you can only use your phone....that’s a deal breaker. I like the assistance an app brings, but I don’t want my bike to be dependent on it. What if it dies? What if I lose it?

Like this bike for fun easy street cruising and distance. Not so great off road , for off road I hop on the surron.

love it but man here in eu the RX is nearly twice the price of the ZX. and being in EU all of them are limited to 25kmh and 250w. SO only difference is the suspension and the light.

sorry I haven't ridden one but isn't the center of gravity too high with the battery mounted at the highest point? I understand they did it to make it look good, to like where a motorcycle gas tank is

  • @werner134897
    @werner134897 3 ปีที่แล้ว

pity they didn't put the battery low in the frame instead of high up. Would have made it more stable.

When the motor burns up then you are screwed. Better to have, like the original, a mid motor. Think about it - which motor is easier to replace? Especially for all that $$.

Looks like a $16 to $1800.00 bike to me. I must have missed something. Thanx for the review though.

Hey Sam, I love your reviews but the bike reviews feel like you are mainly just reading the catalogue and stating all the features. I'd really like to learn about the actual build quality of the components too and most importantly the maintenance of said bike. Is it possible to do yourself, does it require software updates, can I upgrade stuff with aftermarket components from other manufacturers, the placing of the sensors and all the other in-depth stuff that comes with an electric bike. What the hell do you do when they possibly go out of business but you need new tires for that thing?
Maybe it's an idea to drop by a bikeshop and have them comment on the bicycle too?
