@@JL-ei7hy taco bikes have been around since the 1960's. The company originated in Cali. The company still exists. You are looking at perhaps another $700 in shipping and tax but indeed you will find cheaper and potentially better. I have ordered Mario Retro but not got yet, delivery around 2 months.
Maxwell53095 agreed. I wouldn't have even bothered with pedals. I wonder if they kind of had to put them on to be able to use the off the shelf running gear since it has pedal assist. And now on second thought even though you couldn't pedal normally with a 5x pedal assist it should be fine, still kind of pointless though.
They should lighten up the weight of the bike by using aluminum, carbon fiber or even titanium. 60 pounds is too much weight. 30 pounds is better. Peace, Flood!
Why not start trying to make a 30 pound ebike anyway? I think that it can be done by using carbon fiber material, titanium metal and even aircraft grade cnc aluminum. Peace, Flood!
evelasq1 because the battery alone probably weighs 10 pounds. not gonna make a 30 pound ebike for under 10 grand... sure u could possibly make a home made one but they usually don't look the best.
Here is Trek's latest offering, with a 350W motor and 500 Wh battery. It weighs 52 lbs. and costs $5000 www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/electric-bikes/super-commuter/super-commuter-8s/p/1367000-2017/?colorCode=red
Why not make a bike light when they could do that to road bikes with their twenty speeds on it??? In order to bring down the cost of purchase is to use Henry Ford's way of manufacturing. You need to create a huge demand for the product to bring the cost down and create an efficient factory that could produce a high output at a low cost. Quality in craftsmanship and material should always be held at high standards. You don't want to lose your customers. Peace, Flood!
A V Can you name some better bikes? Pretty much all e-bikes I've looked into are akin to gaming laptops, disgusting to look at but efficient. I'd like something that is efficient AND nice to look at.
Err, Microsoft actually bought another DOS called QDOS, and it was the IBM that developped it into MS-DOS. So that much about "garage company'. And Google uses NSA's search engine. NSA programmers still go to Google and work with the Google's search engine, as admitted in a press release. And it's birth was funded from the birth by In-Q-Tel, the CIA front firm en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In-Q-Tel so there was nothing garage in the birth of Google.
Surprised ! Also how can you justify the price ... The Guy who developed the RadRhino has a product at a great price point that looks like a bike and not a square frame with a wheel on each of 2 corners
Does pedal assist make much sense on a machine that doesn't provide a good pedal position? Love the way it looks - just like the minibikes from my 70's childhood. Next up, an electric tribute to the Honda Ruckus?
There are much better bikes than this, and cheaper too! I have a foldable one with 20'' fat tires, 6 gears, front suspension, mudguards, and 800w motor, Italian brand bike for way less than this, Super 73 are overpriced EBIKES!!
I saw a lot of these in the socal campgrounds and looked 'em up. Wired reviewed and said, "very heavy" uses a lot of juice to move the weight, don't ever get stuck pedaling solo and they don't handle speed very well. Maybe they're wrong. It's a great story if you want to buy/ride a provenance.
Steel? I see rust coming 26 miles is not legal on streets but that aside it does not look like a solid looking bike. No suspension wtf, that means all pounding is on wheels....over 3k get the fuck out of here
To be fair road bikes have no suspension and have skinny little tires. Those big ass tires and big ass seat should be fine for the short distances anyone's going to do on it. I agree 3k is insane though. Not sure if they chopped the price or just eliminated that model but the most expensive one on their site is 1500 and does 20 mph.
thing is that electric bikes can be charged for free, you can take them on the subway (maybe just in sweden where i live) and you dont have to complete some test to get a lisence to drive it.

Commenting because of Casey's plug.. I was already a subscriber though !! Good luck with the Christmas Miracle!
1000 usd on alibaba search: New arrival 20inch 750W Electric big wheel Halei Scooter with Lithium Battery
You are looking at perhaps another $700 in shipping and tax but indeed you will find cheaper and potentially better. I have ordered Mario Retro but not got yet, delivery around 2 months.
Looked great until I saw the price, much better options for that kind of money in my opinion.
Merry Xmas Sam, great video! This bike looks very similiar to my banana seat bike of the 70's, needs a glitter seat!
Christmas miracle. I liked the videos you made when you were with the verge so I am glad I found your channel 😎
where is the suspension...???
How is this worth $3200 forget.
christmas miracle
I wanted this since i saw jesse on one. I run minor errands and i think this would be nice in the summer and it looks cool af.
A christmas miracle for sam!
nope, i can't pedal normally on this. take off the pedals, add more batteries
Maxwell53095 ya but then the price will go up and it's already not worth $3200
Maxwell53095 agreed. I wouldn't have even bothered with pedals. I wonder if they kind of had to put them on to be able to use the off the shelf running gear since it has pedal assist. And now on second thought even though you couldn't pedal normally with a 5x pedal assist it should be fine, still kind of pointless though.
They should lighten up the weight of the bike by using aluminum, carbon fiber or even titanium. 60 pounds is too much weight. 30 pounds is better. Peace, Flood!
No ebike weighs 30 lbs.
It weighs 52 lbs. and costs $5000

Watch Electric Bike Reviews on this. Not the best by a long shot. So many better options especially for that price point.
Dam straight, it's inferior in range, top speed, style, comfort and even charging time. Meh, i'm very underwhelmed.
greysuit17 can you give examples of better options?
Chițu Ștefan check out Rad Power Bikes.
A V Can you name some better bikes? Pretty much all e-bikes I've looked into are akin to gaming laptops, disgusting to look at but efficient. I'd like something that is efficient AND nice to look at.
Don't Reply please specify what nice to look at means :)
I was just inspired not only to wanna go to New York but also ride a super 73 in New York! Good job
really great video Sam. LOVE the visuals of this kickstarter model.
It's a mini-bike styled frame with off the shelf parts. Nothing clever, nothing new.
Alex Paulsen and shit geometry as well
This vid is a stroke fest for this thing.
Christmas miracle
$3,200 with that money i can buy 3 honda bikes xD too expensive! great bike non the less.

Not going to win a design award
We won a design award
It looks like a great electric bike, but 20 mile range is not fine, especially for these prices. However, 27 mph does exceed most ebikes.
There are much better bikes than this, and cheaper too! I have a foldable one with 20'' fat tires, 6 gears, front suspension, mudguards, and 800w motor, Italian brand bike for way less than this, Super 73 are overpriced EBIKES!!
what's the name of your bike?
www.speedyebike.com/catalog/fat-bikes/mini-elegant.html
Nope, nope.... Still build 50mph ones for $500 to $1k with 40 or so mile range.
At 50 mph, it's no longer classified as a bike, requiring a DL and insurance.
Hoochi Koochi, I’d also like to know how to build one that goes 50mph with 40 mile range for $500-$1000
Mark Troup, this is true, but it could still be worth it.
Or you could gear it down and have a really powerful bike.
A Christmas miracle for Sam
I hope a Christmas miracle for you. Nice video.
the parts cost only about $1000... build one yourself :)
Please link me the frame, wheels, motor and battery for $1000
Martinpe yes please
7 days to die rip off
casey sent me dude! let me know if you need a web developer?
cheers!!!

oh cool
Christmas Miracle - Greetings from Germany 😎
Buy a moped. Cheaper. Faster. Nicer to ride. Storage space. Can park it outside and it probs won't get stolen.
thing is that electric bikes can be charged for free, you can take them on the subway (maybe just in sweden where i live) and you dont have to complete some test to get a lisence to drive it.
#christmasMiracle
Merry Xmas. By the way: you really do good videos, I’m glad Casey sent the msg to subscribe.
All the best Sam: you can make it mate!
