    "Inspired by the Mediterranean diet" recipes - that explains the almond nut butter. In a real Mediterranean diet, they would just sprinkle the nuts in the yogurt and if you wanted it to taste sweet, to just add some honey. I've been researching but I haven't read anything that says straining the whey out of yogurt increases the protein. From what I've read, it merely changes the consistency of the yogurt, and you lose sodium, sugars and helpful bacteria by straining it.

    • @andreawood991
      @andreawood991 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really wow just Googled that and yes it does increase the protein wasn't hard to find that 🤷 😊

    Do you feel any different since adding animal products back into your diet? I’ve been plant based for over three years and feel good but I keep reading about how healthy the Mediterranean diet is and am considering adding fish to my diet.

    • @jordanwaddell
      @jordanwaddell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Such a good question! I will say the difference is not HUGE, but I do feel more satisfied after a meal with some animal protein. I also increased my iron/ferritin levels and B12 back into healthy ranges that my doctor was happy with. Everyone is so different. I think it's FANTASTIC you are feeling good being plant-based! 😊If you are comfortable, you could experiment with a really small fish like sardines - that's what I did to transition. See how you feel! If it doesn't feel right and/or you don't feel different after a month or so, then you know 🙂My first Mediterranean Diet video was 100% plant-based.

    Love this video! I'm trying to switch my husband and I completely over to a Mediterranean diet for health reasons. He has acid reflux and I have prediabetes. I've read that this is a good diet to restore gut health and lose weight. Do you think this is the best diet for gerd? I would love to see more of these videos from you! Definitely trying each and every recipe, can't wait for the cod!

    • @jordanwaddell
      @jordanwaddell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I definitely think the Med diet is a great place to start for GERD :) However, everyone is slightly different when it comes to food triggers. For example, some dairy is okay on the Med diet, but many people with reflux do better without dairy. So it's important to stay in tune with your individual needs! I'll definitely be posted more vids soon!

    I've been following the Mediterranean way of eating for about a year (btw, you are one of the few posting such things). I've had great benefits of MUCH less joint pain and GERD symptions are much reduced. But I LOVE the food. Everything tastes wonderful with lots of fresh veggies. Your food looks wonderful too! Had forgotten about the fish in parchment thing. Your idea on the peas was genius as well. My next step figuring out baking bread. BTW, I do different flavors though keeping to basic principles so I may have Mexican or Asian inspired flavors but with much more veggies and whole grains, less red meat (do eat a little but maybe once a month).

    Hi Jordan, thanks for the wonderful video that introduces simple but nutritious recipes. I just wonder why you squeeze the whey from your homemade yogurt? Is whey not good for health? I’m making kefir at home and just drink whole kefir milk product made from kefir grains, never separated whey from the final product, but now wondering why you do that. (And I’ve seen some people also do that, there must be some reason)
    Could you kindly reply me please? Thanks 🙏🏻

    • @jordanwaddell
      @jordanwaddell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I don't think there's anything wrong with the whey :) I did that demonstration to show how to make "Greek" style yogurt since it is a Mediterranean diet video. Some people like the texture of Greek yogurt and the higher protein content. Neither are "good" or "bad" - it's just a personal preference!

      Hi there! By straining it, you concentrate the yogurt and remove a lot of the lactose, leaving behind a yogurt with a higher density of protein.

You do not need pink salt found in just one place in the world or super organic, everything free special ingredient X made in the remote regions of China only by Norwegian bachelor farmers. I'm down 13 pounds with only 8 more to go and it is mostly from stopping drinking and cooking almost everything at home from fresh ingredients. Best part is blood pressure is under 120/80 even after stopping two medicines (under my doctor's supervision).
