Brian's Straitjacket escape, live: • Brian Live and Direct ...
Straight jackets are much easier than most people assume. And rubber rooms are much harder. Trust me, it really hurts to bounce on those walls and floors.

Nice video guys! Keep it up

2 years of sucking up to the nurses and doctors for computer privileges was worth it, free man tonight.
I'm sure someone in the community lives by the hospital, and is happy to give you a ride!

Are you out now?
@@jacksoncobb7115 nah they checked my browser history and now I gotta stay longer :(
I’m confused
Saw the title and thought "It was bound to happen."
Good one
I saw the title, then saw the thumbnail, and said, "You sure did."
BOUND to happen
...and now my comment makes no sense since they renamed the video. :-)
I saw it and actually thought "how have they not done this already?"
"Brian did it in 2 minutes, I'm going to do it in 120 seconds"
Hmmm
"every sixty seconds in America. A minute passes in Africa"

"You gotta push in on the butt, and jerk forward."
- Brian Brushwood
Push the butt button 😳
I laughed and cried at 8:20. He's going to push and jerk. That's why they got demonitized.
@@Ali_Rhodes I was making a joke, the same one they did.
And that's how the injury counter got reset
THATS WHAT SHE SAID
For those confused by comments: original title was “We Put Jason in a Straight Jacket”
Jason: "So what are we learning today, Brian?"
Brian: *Does jazz hands as the word "MAGIC!" appears in a rainbow arc over his head.
just letting you know i gave you you're 69th like
nice
@@theswaff699 your*
Jason: *looks up at the rainbow* How did you do that?
Sounds like Dan Sperry’s act on Fool Us
Theses guys are Rhett and Link plus alcohol
This is too accurate
There was literally a GMM episode about escaping from a straitjacket a few years ago! Neither of them are magicians, though, so it wasn't quite as informative as this.
spoiler alert! for those who haven't seen the episode of GMM with straightjackets
rhett and link had different jackets, links had armpit straps where rhetts did not. the modern rogues also didn't have armpit straps, so i wonder how they would do if they did.
trace matson cut it
I think modern rogue is a lot more informative. Each video teaches you something. Rhett and link just eat stuff and play games
Also, one of the Houdini's tricks was doing it while hanging upside down. It "stretches" (I don't know how to explain it correctly, English is not my first language) making your upper torso thinner, it loosens the straitjacket if someone put you in it while standing, so it makes it look way harder, like "oh, he's doing it while hanging upside down!!" but in reality it made it easier.
I was the brought up on stage with a guy escaping from a straight jacket in March. I messed up the crotch strap binding and he wasn't able to get out :)
Best. Sentences. Ever.
I call bull in that. The crotch strap only prevents it from being pulled up over the head, nothing more. You can't thwart an escape by "messing up" the crotch strap..
"I'm not gonna break my glasses for you."
Immediately almost breaks his glasses.
Well he was right.
Can you do a series about betting games? Poker still confuses me, and I'm also curious about how card counting works.
Agreed, it'd be a pretty cool thing to know
I’ve been wanting exactly this since they did pool! Get all the smokehouse/bar betting games in
Yeah that'd be good.
YES
@@johnnyparsnips7641 any game that uses card values really
The Magic related episodes are always really entertaining.
Bryan does such a 180 degree shift, he goes from "oh god oh god oh god" to "listen here fool".
Great to see^^
Brian isn't quoting Houdini, he's quoting himself.

@@LoserLilith haha, nice
The funny thing is what Jason did for his "performance" when he said 120 seconds, not everyone will realize that is 2 minutes, so to the majority who didn't catch that, 120 seconds is faster than 2 minutes to them
Lol the moment he said that was I was like?!!........ Was that a joke or do I suck a math. I then double checked my math more times than I'd like to admit.
You're still allowed at my parties.
I think another good gag for this routine is when the hand comes out of the neck to have a old cell phone come up to the ear and start asking for help then drop it and say something like "boring conversation anyway, guess I have to do this the hard way(sounding deflated)" and start doing the whole struggle thing.
Next episode of the modern rogue:how to escape an insane asylum
Not a joke, actually, they should do this
Aka escaping modern rouge HQ
Act normal :0
Remember that line in Endgame, "That's Americas ass"?
5:14
He'll probably still find a way to reset the injury counter.
i wouldn't be surprised if he found a way of dislocating his shoulder when getting out or something lol
At around the 10 minute mark he cuts his left index finger while tightening the straps.
@@michaelwoodby5261 I was looking for this comment, he did cut himself.

Me: **looks at title**
Also me: "normal modern rogue video. What's special about this one?"
*me after watching the demonstration of how the act is done:* ah. i see. it's an act, of course, that makes sense. how quaint. glad i know how that trick works now. i will never be fooled again
*Jason, performing:* "yeowch! i'm havin trouble folks! this is really hard! gee whiz"
*me:* :O woa how he did that. riveting
When they put they straight jacket on you, it is important to puff out your chest and keep your elbows up to give yourself the most room. As you can see, Brian isn't doing any of that but instead he's making it more difficult. Next what I did was try and pull one arm up my sleeve and into the jacket, so I can use my hand on the clasps starting from the neck down. Sometimes I would need to work my other arm over my head as well. Dislocating both your shoulders is so highly likely I would almost guarantee it, not something to try at home.
"Continue with the picking of the wedgie..."
I hope I didn't wake up the sleeping roommates, I laughed waaaay too loud
"Pace yourself."
Uh... That seems uh...
Look I'm not into... Whatever you think I'm into.
I've always "known" that a magic act is a "performance". But this really drove home how essential *performing* really is.
Why did you guys change the title from “we put Jason in a straitjacket”
You guys should definitely more stage performance-oriented style videos as a way to do more audience engagement. The moment there's the "fake audience" during that stream, it makes it fun to have the live stream audience cheer on --- which fits well to the stage performance story intention of having an actual audience.
Finally! About time. Now only if they also put Brian in a straitjacket, that way neither of them can hack the world.
I love Brian's shirt in the intro!
Brian: say stop when its tight enough
Jason: help, help
Brian thinks "well he didn't say stop, i'll carry on pulling" :D
And now, the secret revealed! "Just get out of it now."
*after reading the title*
Ah, yes. Where he belongs.
Edit: the title was originally "We put Jason in a straitjacket"
That's not how a real straight jacket works. A legitimate jacket has a vertical loop on your stomach your arms go through so you can't lift it over your head. There's no way out if the person putting you in doesn't want you to.
Different makers have different designs. This one might be older than the one you know.
@@The_Other_Ghost no they've had that strap for years. Magicians would usually buy specialty jackets or make adjustments to jackets they purchased to make escaping them easier
In addition to the loop, a proper straightjacket has an additional horizontal strap around the whole thing, which severely limits any horizontal movement of arms. After knowing how a proper straightjacket looks like, the performance seems so lame.
Episode was a lot more saucy than first anticipated.
12:45 “I rate every Modern Rogue video based on how much Murphy looks like Castro. This one’s about a 3.” oh how i wish live chats had a like button just for this absolute gem
Video title: "How to escape from a straitacket"
Subtitle: "Don't tell Jason, but we're transporting him to a haunted asylum"
I look forward to a Modern Rogue branded straight jacket
I really love how you teach the showmanship. That's just as interesting as the mechanics of the escape.
This is such a great episode!!! I love it. Thanks to the Modern Rogue we have now learned how to escape Straight Jackets, Cut Through / Break Zipties, cut through Duct Tape using hidden blades, now we just need an episode where we learn how to escape handcuffs (which was technically covered on Scam Nation).
I would love to see an episode where TMZ Cobra makes Brian (or vise versa) use all of the previously mentioned escape methods to escape their captors.
13:50 leave it to Brian to laugh like the joker in a straight jacket
Modern Rouge: BDSM edition
Hell.Yes.
THE VIDEO I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!! This was awesome Brian, great video and great tutorial! I hope to try a straight jacket escape in the future for my acts, so this was very helpful!
God, I'm so glad that I watched Hack The System that day on Nat Geo so I've finally found the best content creators ever. Keep it up guys!
MAAAAAANNN!!! Jason’s life is ridiculous. Every episode he drops a gem
Good video guys! I havent watched it at all yet as its the countdown to the premier but i can feel it in my b̶o̶n̶e̶s̶ giblets
Finally, a how to video I can use.
Thanks! I'll be needing these tips for rehab
I remember the first time I was in a straight jacket. I was at a goth party and we were showing each other some tricks and gimmicks. I can dislocate my shoulders. The first thing I did was what turn myself in the jacket and dislocated one of my shoulders and tried to pull my arm out. I got legitimately stuck. Even tho I know the secret I was waiting for the same thing to happen to Jason.
Originally, I thought this show was awesome.
Then I discovered Brian Brushwood is a magician. I thought, "aw man, this show...just got more awesome
!"
I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THIS CHANNEL! I’m so glad the TH-cam algorithm recommended it to me
I'm probably gonna miss out on the mystery box this time; sadly I'm between jobs at the moment and won't get another paycheck in until here in a week or two. I ABSOLUTELY plan to get a mystery box if/when another one is done but sadly I'm gonna have to miss this one. I love you guys' stuff and I applaud you for everything you and Jason do. Keep on being that modern rogue
Jason needed this, let's be honest.
"Jason killed the president of Nicaragua and decided to plead insanity, now watch him escape"
Super excited for the mystery boxes. Never dissapoint!
This is my favorite video of the whole channel
Can we talk about Brian’s shirt in the intro segment?
It's a great shirt! So simple and yet, It makes you think longer than it should have the right to.
Jason: owch my franks and beans!!
...
Me an intilectual, fRAnkS and beans, FrAnkS, franks plural ?!?!
Thank you for posting! You guys need to make more videos
Every once in awhile I remember that this video exists and i come back and watch it and it's just a good as the first time I saw it.
The editor not putting in epic music when Brian talked about it being there hugely disappointed me.
'Cause I'm a Bondage Rooooogue!
Everyone at work now thinks I've lost my mind, as I spent the first 9 minutes of this video, laughing maniacally to myself! Awesome video!
Looks like the skills in the video might be applicable lol
Love ya Shwood! Been a fan since the Mohawk!
Was that a German Assembly Hall from wwii at 19:42 cause that's a really meta joke
Gonna use this when the send me to a mental hospital for recreating modern rouge videos in public
Thanks man, really needed your help.
Brian’s “I’m fighting you.” Is just another word for, I’m making the audience laugh by doing a butt wiggle while you get me strapped in. 13:15
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… “I did the thing!” - Brian Brushwood should be on an official Modern Rogue shirt
The "normal" "modern" jackets have a loop on the back where the arm belt goes thru
Finally... Content that is somewhat 'rogue-like'!
I love the thumbnail of this video. The very slight insanity in Jason's face is amazing.
I want 2 stickers from the modern rogue:
The TMZ Cobra logo and
"Your nipples are copyrighted"
Jack Kirby loosely based Mister Miracle on the real-life escape artist antics of Jim Steranko.
Thank you Jason for doing this video...I will watch it many times. 😈
Amazing video! Loved it!
So, knowing this have you even gotten a smartass on stage that ran the sleeve strap under one of the back straps and totally botched your routine?
is the chalkboard just a list of people who have escaped from straight jackets?
it's just a list of people (and fictional characters) who are known for escapes. like DB Cooper and Snake Plisskin.
the chalkboard always has something relevant to the episode(if its the regular wacky MR episode).
Michael Scott Really needed to see this.
Brian: "You want to go and, with one finger, push... push the button"
Jason: "OH, THERE'S A BUTT-" *cuts*
If someone is ever in a situation where your in a straight jacket,
Maybe you shouldn't know how to get out of it
Unless you’re kidnapped
I live in a mental straight jacket, but I'm not flexible enough to get out of it.
With that kinda edge I don't think you need to be flexible
That was great! Very entertaining to see you yanking Jason's "chain".
This was the first video I watched from them. I’ve seen a lot of videos from them now
Kinky vid time.
Oof
Great video as always.
Thanks man gonna need this next week 👍
Brian's got some majestic hair action going on! Jason's look is of course on point as well.
Thanks man, helped a lot!
I've been needing this
I genuinely think I have found a new phobia. Never since watching purposefully scary cave videos / deep water diving videos have I been so thoroughly terrified even while you guys seemed to be so calm and having a lot of fun. I truly can not describe how uncomfortable the thought of a straitjacket is to me. Yeesh, good video nonetheless!
I literally looked the title up a week ago but now that the guys made a video on it I will learn from them
Oddly enough, Wisconsin being the setting for happy days, your reference to Houdini sounding like the fonz isn’t too far removed. Since he lived in Appleton as a young man. (Lil factoid)
Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind.
Thanks this information will come in handy very soon
Thanks really needed this
8:10 and on had me in tears..
"This button right here Brian?"
Thanks this really helped alot and it actually works!!
13:49 Best Joker laugh ive ever heard...
This was great thank you!
