I installed a 15" example of one of these last Friday. It's well made and has good instructions. The alignment tool is good and got the alignment VERY CLOSE but double-check the alignment visually. I used a crescent wrench and tightened it by hand then tightened it until the next slot aligned. Double-checked it with a torque wrench and mine was about 52 ft-lbs which is appropriate. On the TFB article people were poo-pooing the weight and cost in favor of chinese ebay alternatives. You do you. I like this handguard and got it on a 10% discount code.
My wife walks in and says, "That's odd. Pauly V doesn't seem like the tattoo kind of guy". Then she realized it was just a graphic. She was referring to the 5:20 mark. The Brownells Ram logo looked like a tattoo for just a moment. By the way, you will always be "Pauly V" to this family. Paul Levy spoken in rapid succession has given rise to your new nickname. Wear it proudly. Keep up the good work my friends. EDITED for double spacing and missing punctuation.
Bert Shackleford Bert, I gave you a like just for making the extra effort to check your punctuation. What a wonderful place the internet would be if everyone did so. 🖒
I enjoyed hearing about the new handguard system. I didn’t enjoy the annoying background music. I want to listen to them talk without some folksy generic guitar in the background. Play it on the intro and then fade it out until the video is over.
Very innovative guys. This fix is why I dont go for midwest industries handguards, they look nice but are not strong enough for what I need handguards to do.
That would mean that the tapping of the barrelnut is important, if there is only one ridge to allow the gas tube to pass through?? What if you tightend it already and the only ridge to pass through the gastube is still not aligned and you cant tighten it further???
Good design, although I'd have preferred beveled screws that screw directly into the barrel nut for a hard index, ensuring it CANNOT rotate, any. This is still better than 90% of stuff out there.

@@noluckpureskill9985 Had a look at Syrac per your recommendation and it looks like Syrac isn't in business anymore. That said, the Syrac piston retrofit kit looks visually identical to the Superlative Arms kit. Think I'm going to buy a SA kit and see what's doing. I have two AA piston kits and they're pretty sweet so the SA has a lot to live up to.
@@nolarick4054 damn sad to hear, but ya I noticed they looked near identical as well. I love my AA set up but I'd love to b able to use a geissele rail, I do believe it's possible with SA kit as well
@@noluckpureskill9985 I hear you about wanting to use the Geissele handguard. For me, its a quest for weight reduction and having to use a GI spec barrel nut with the AA arms kits blows. No Anti-Rotation other than the Barrel Nut and hardware??? 🤔🤔🤔 On a barrel nut that is that long does the gas tube clear it or is there pressure on the tube? I’m not sure about that design, but I would be willing to test a 10.5!!
So what about the millions of handguards that don't have anti-rotational tabs? The ones that have been in use from the 60's? Just like the Wrenchman, the gas tube keep the barrel nut from turning. Anti-rotational tabs are only to keep the handguard from turning...and if you watched the video, they pointed out the ridges inside this handguard that do that. I guess you'll pass on common sense and listening skills also.

Looks heavy, is it?
@Joshua Bressel 2 years later and holoson is inching their prices to be the same as aimpoint.
So no more torquing the barrel nut? Just tighten with an adjustable wrench? Sounds too easy!
Wish you all would bring the precision back. I love mine.
Thanks brownells love your products and site. You keep our freedoms alive!

Very nice.
so on the percision the inside tabs go the whole length of the longer barrel nut?
Are these still made? I don't see the Wrenchman Precision 15" listed on Brownell's site.
Any plans for an AR10 version?
tried looking for it on the web side couldn't find it

What do they weigh with the barrel nut?
11.9-14.94 ounces depending on length

Most likely back the barrel but out and take it off. Then start again with shims

Will this work with an M&P 15 sport 2? When I replace the front sight gas block what gas block should I get?

NMhvac Tech the barrel nut has notches in it that time with the Handguard. It’s not going to rotate unless the barrel but loosens.
Umm. Gas block, tube
If not who is.
Crescent wrench? You mean adjustable. Crescent is a brand, not a type.
I suppose you use facial tissues and adhesive bandage strips instead kleenexes and band-aids too...
kwb377 ok boomer 👍🏿
Too bad the standard looks like shit and the precision looks good
🙄
So no anti-rotational tabs? Twisting the handguard could loosen the barrel nut. I’ll pass.
Could you give an example of a system that has anti-rotational tabs for those of us new to building?
Midwest Industries. Aero Precision, STNGR, Troy, Geissele, etc. Hell even the PSA handguards have anti-rotational tabs.

The gas tube indexes the nut. The nut won't back out anyway, if installed properly.
