Yeah, but we had a good run, dood. Playing Helldiver 1 campaigns was amazing, I finished many, even when pretty much nobody even knew the game existed. Also I'd be lying if I said I did not see this coming. When Helldivers 2 for some reason hit it big, I was thinking "Yep, it's going mainstream, which is the kiss of death to any IP these days. I'm out."
Yeah it was cool and it was one of favorite games even though most players of the helldivers 2 community think it’s a boring top down. I played this on PS3 while my boys were on PS4 and PS5, I bought my PS5 for helldivers 2 in Feburary 2024. It hurts me so much to know this franchise is over😭

The cracks were showing from the community managers showing their ideals while the fissure that started the full collapse was Sony being like “Hold my Beer” and forcing a policy that was never implemented since the start of the game being live. Well, whatever you feel notwithstanding, that senior writer worked on SM2 for years, and we have no way of knowing what parts of the story she did or did not work on, or how much of, if any, of her work was cut, so that game _might_ be woke. We just don't know. Sometimes, you can tell when a game is tainted by wokeness from the trailer. Other times, it's not so easy. This is one of those times where it's not so easy, because it is still a fact that she worked on the game, and some people, rather than take the risk and buy the game, won't buy the game because they don't want to risk supporting that kind of content.

I remember when we thought we were taking down the automatons a few months ago, there was almost 800K players on at the same time. Now every time I get on the game weekly, there’s only about on average 50K.. How the hell does a studio fumble that hard???! We live in the wrong universe. Everything goes to shit for literally no reason. 800 to 50 is such a major fumble, I hope someone else sees how bad this is.

@@marbles8641 it was sony that enforced the PSN requirement and then steam offered refunds to people in the blocked countries and then made so you couldnt get the game in those areas, now that Sony has retracted the PSN requirement they are probably talking withe valve/steam to get helldivers back in those blocked countries. But it was steam that took it off

Valve is just the distributor, and I'm pretty Sony has a direct line to Valve when they need to discuss things since they are one of the biggest game companies in the world.

The past 2 patches have consistently broken aspects of the game, balance and still did not fix what was stated in the patch notes. Then they took a summer vacation because God forbid they work for more than a month at one time. The game has only been out for maybe 4 months, I've worked non-stop for years with no breaks. What's their excuse?
Most of their patches have fundamentally broken the game and the fun each and every time. This last major patch was not as good as every fanboy has tried to pedal it as. Considering the player count is still falling just 2 weeks after the "major" patch that took almost a month and a half to put out. The signs are there, clear as day. You, and people like you are not even a single percentage of the player base and have always been so.

Western games are increasingly over-representing so-called ‘under represented groups’, to the point where the majority of western players feel under represented. In short, DEI is making a very large portion of the player base lose interest.

I understand that fantasy requires a certain degree of belief suspension, but it gets to a point where I kinda just wanna play a buff dude throwing hands instead of a chick. It's kinda hard to rationalize, but it just fits more, to me. Plus, women are put in modern games largely for one of two reasons. A: western dev forcing you to play an ugly female character because girl power or some crap. B: Asian developers making characters hyper sexualized to milk the wallets of desperate, lonely guys with disposable income, while providing bare minimum for actual gameplay. I don't like either.

"A game made for everyone, is a game made for no one". Basically this means, if you try to implement everything in an attempt to appeal to everybody, the resulting product is such a weird mutated conglomerate of biomass that it ends up appealing to no one it intended to.
If they add anything into the game the review score will fall, not as far as the PSN linking but it will be at least mixed overall. This is and always has been a controversial issue and it clearly divides people no matter which side you choose that part is obvious. We should put aside our differences rather than highlight them.
I gave up on Helldivers months ago when those mods in the discord started showing their true colors

sony retracting its linking was only half the issue addressed. they never reversed the availability changes and in the process fucked players over in other countries. so on principle lots of players (myself included) stopped playing.

This is just tragic. HD2 was supposed to be a testament to the unbending fervor of our resilience, now it is but a tower with its gates wide open and its battlements unguarded.
Thankfully it seems to be restricted to the Discord and I was planning on buying a ps5 to play HD2 but now I’m hesitant, if all goes well I think I’ll buy one in September, until then, I’m gonna be watching its progress.

The game itself is so far untouched, and that the one community manager that got yeeted out was the one that caused issues for Sony by egging players to reviewbomb harder tells me that Sony may be the one deciding who manages the community side way more than Arrowhead (who may not be allowed to say or do anything about it)
Time will tell if the two are really that separate, but yeah corporate overreach from Soyny may be at play
