Ya know, in a burst of creative energy I had in grad school in 1984, I painted an oil on canvas to about 90% completion, but I couldn't figure out how to finish it. Over the years afterward I got SO many compliments on it, that it made me even more hesitant to finish it. Finally, my younger sister saw it 25 years after I painted it, and she thought it was SO great, that I was even LESS sure that I wanted to finish it. Now, after her untimely passing, I don't think I will ever finish it. ❤

Plenty of great advice, as usual, here. This philosophical aspect of a flow state is beneficial for not only artwork, but also everyday life. I've heard of something similar to this ("go with the flow" of course, among others) but this is the best way I've seen it implemented and heard it explained to the point where it seems far easier to apply it to life situations. Another great drawing and life lesson.

In the legendary duel against Sasaki Kojiro, the legendary duelist that was using a really big long katana, Musashi didn't use his swords. Knowing the advantage that the longer blade gives in range he knew he cannot win by using his katana. So he sharpened a paddle from the boat he used to come to the island for the duel.
He was hours late and when the arrived he had a long sharpened paddle as a weapon. Those where the two main factors in his victory over Kojiro.
If he was attached too much to his swords and his skill in swordsmanship he would probably die in that duel.

From the book Deep Work by Cal Newport, you got one thing that's really rare to a lot of people, which contributes a huge part in building your flow. That is an isolated workspace. A place full of quiet with no one interrupt your concentrate, for me as a normal office worker, that's an expensive experience. An open space office may seem good to many people cuz they encourage interaction between colleagues but it's hell for people who just want to get job done asap and get the f*ck out so I can relax in the evening at my home, do my stuff, while still maintain the working performance.
Sometimes I just feel so jealous with you about being a neet but still maintain the income
And yes I'm asian, my parent (like many asian parents out there) expects their kids to go to work, bring the money back home, share some of it to pay the family living expense. Despite I'm still happy sharing a huge amount of my payroll for my parent (so I can feel like an adult helping my family), it's somehow put me in some kind of invisible pressure which builds a wall between me the normal worker and me the neet
I just wish to disappear and being a ronin, let my feet leads me without thinking too much just like master Musashi.

Hello Alisa, I really love every thing about this channel - the calm, simple, no-drama, zen, etc. videos.
I have a feeling I just finished college, but I think I'll probably be in your position sometime soon, I mean the NEET thing and not TH-cam Channel.
I just wanted to ask you something, how do I stay strong in what I do and not give into temptations and money from platforms that can offer short-cuts like Instagram, OF, etc. Where it might be a good start, but once you go in, there is no turning back? Have you had those thoughts/offers? And if you did, how did you manage to make a large TH-cam channel despite those offers/short-cuts?

you have to stick to your values and morals, you need to know what is important to you in life and what you want. Every choice you make you have to think to yourself, would this make my ancestors proud, would this make my future self proud. If you really have something to offer or good discipline you shouldn't need to give into the temptation ever

I can certainly get behind Buddhism and Taoism. Personally, I've always understood Buddhism better because it incorporates the feeling of all kinds of thoughts (especially the bad thoughts people pretend don't exist.) Then again, I like Jungianism so that's my bias.
I don't know if I want to copy your drawing mindset approach. I typically draw on my traumas when I create stuff. I find it creates more interesting drawings on my end. Cool drawing btw.

Alisa, love your style. Here is a business idea for you. Can you design some stickers with sizes and shapes that can fit on motorcycle helmets? Something for you to research on and likely similar ideas for other wearable items/gear market segments... For example, helmet manufacturers make money on nice graphics. The price gaps between nice graphics and plain color of the leading brands for the exact same models are in the range of hundreds of dollars. And as a returning rider from many years of hiatus I found top line helmets with nice graphics are no longer affordable. Nice stickers are the way to go IMO. There are also opportunities in electroluminescent... And many more people will see your works when your style is distinct from the mainstream racer graphics.

Most people can't see pictures in their head. It's blank. But they can still draw. Cause they have the muscle memory to. You draw a face over and over again, so the next time you draw one you'll get it out of the way pretty quick.
Than you slow down to add different details to your character. Don't be upset if you draw slow, just focus on what your doing. In 10 years you will find yourself drawing faster as well

Part of me knows I need to just be more like water and be more adaptable to this life we find ourselves in, but idk it’s hard to explain, the wind is blowing towards the fire like I know if I can be like water i can let the wind take me to the fire and put out the fire. I want to help and get rid of the fire that’s destroying everything. I feel like according to everyone I’m just supposed to adapt to everything in the sense that I’m just supposed to do what I’m told, but I know the wind like I know what’s right and I don’t need to be told what to do anymore I’m supposed to go put out the fire to stop it from destroying everything and everyone, and just stop all the unnecessary suffering. I know despite everyone saying I should just adapt and follow along with things, I can’t help but resist because I know we were not born simply to do as we’re told necessarily, we were not born to work at McDonald’s, to work for money, etc. God, or our creator, or just nature itself do not intend for us to all be slaves to money and those who control/own the money/those who are slave to it/them. I don’t focus too much on this religion or that religion, I just focus on what speaks to me as you say and I’d go farther to say I focus on the things that are just true, people get caught up with things that may or may not be true, but we should all focus more on the things that are certainly true. Just my thoughts I felt like sharing, Peace n love✌️

Oh! Personally...? I like the painting as is. Then again, I love singular colors and it reminds me of isolation and childhood. Good times. Ultimately, it's your painting that represents you at that time. Unless you feel a compulsion to upgrade your previous self (or whatever), I wouldn't.
Can I ask a question? I tend to understand people based on narratives. (autism thing that I developed during my trade, I think? I don't know.) Are you American or Japanese? Do you reside in America or Japan? It doesn't matter at all, of course. I'm just wondering.

Yo this is random as f but I think you would make an awesome art teacher just teaching children how to draw and stuff, and without even really trying it kinda teaches about life bcus a lot of the advice that applies specifically to just drawing for example also applies to life, idk maybe there would be very dumb, stressful, annoying parts of it that would make you hate it, but just a random thought I had. If I had kids I’d want a nice lady like you to teach them art u seem like a good person with a good heart who’d make a great teacher!🙏
