He's a deeply spiritual, humanistic, intellectual who questions, probes, explores ideas and theories. It would be nice to see more people like him. He'd make a good teacher.
Unfortunately. And also the guy helped two great directors when they were beginning, Scorsese and Tarantino. Of course it was two different moments in Harvey’s carrer, but he helped anyway.
Harvey keitel is one of THE most underratted actors in hollywood today. He's careful, measured and meticulous re his need to be all over the place re his image, just like de niro. One of the all time greats.
This guy is one of the most perfectly casted characters I have ever seen in "Life on Mars". He was so perfect as a 1970's boss type. His mannerisms, hair, attitude, little nuances were spot on. He transported the time travel for me. Now after seeing him in this interview I am even more impressed because it makes me realize what a good actor he is because he is nothing like that character in real life.
I feel very sad that Hollywood has largely overlooked this man as not being a so called bankable actor and have therefore snubbed some very very good work.
That point is excellent for anyone or anything in this world: "Not up, but in. What is relevant in your experience as a human being?" We are always trying to go up, better ourselves, intellectualize ourselves, but looking inward and meditating on what drives us and what comprises us is something we're not taught to do. Actually, we're discouraged to do this in society. He makes a great point about ego and how we have to recognize and diminish our ego in order to be more truthful with ourselves and others.
Bad Lieutenent is one of the best Character Study films of all time! Up there with Taxi Driver, Joker, There will be Blood, A King of Comedy, Five Easy Pieces, Nightcrawler, American Psycho and etc.
When i was in my youth, i wanted to be a 60 year old guy. Thats how cool this guy was. It was almost a hunch of manlove. When i grew up later i see it was a bit patetic indeed. But he really Remember me of my dad. Not educated, but very streetwise. Tough guy, and a bit of a lover for the ladies. It was the 70s. You dont make guys like this anymore. lol
he sounds really smart and humble, and according to some of his friend actors he's also very sweet and kind. This may come as absolutely random but I wonder what his mbti would be
You could see how passionate he is about the situation in the Balkans at the time, and when the host changed the subject from politics back to acting,he was pissed!
Man I miss Charlie Rose, especially his show. There are so many big name celebrities that will go on his show and really open up, show great transparency because Rose is genuine and honest, n is very empathetic to their own boundaries. It’s too bad that his end was tarnished like that. Regardless of his ending in tv, I was fortunate to watch many episodes of the Charlie Rose show n be visually entertained & stimulated by both his style, his guests, and the interviews. You are sadly missed on tv.
I would rather say that art is the ability of the artis to make people feel things that are never felt before. If is something different, I'd call it propaganda. That isn't a bad thing per se, it depends on the message it pushes. That's my opinion.

I agree ! Thank you for a refreshingly perceptive comment !
The most underrated, underused actor ever....in my humble opinion.
I 100% agree man in my humble opinion 👍👍
I agree and I'm SURE I'm right. Would love to see him getting his due recognition by all the "academies" BEFORE he dies
@Jim Newcombe how can you tell that? You couldn't even understand what I wrote.
Unfortunately. And also the guy helped two great directors when they were beginning, Scorsese and Tarantino. Of course it was two different moments in Harvey’s carrer, but he helped anyway.
Underrated? I thought everybody loved keitel? Shame on those who don't.
Amazing man, humble, spiritual, kind.
I agree 100 per cent !

BTaylor3444 perfectly said
definitely my favorite actor...
I love Harvey Keitel. He is a brilliant actor.
As much as I loved Liam Neeson's performance in SILENCE, I would've really loved to see Keitel as Ferrera. This interview IS Fr. Ferrera
One of the most deep thinking interviews I've ever seen.
Gotta Luv Mr.Keitel
Thank Harvey for being REAL and brilliant.
Fascinating interview
I heartily concur !
fuck politics, love art.
He is one of the best Actors ever! I have always enjoyed every one of his movies!
Beyond his talent is a steaming authentic honesty.

I love him in spike Lee clockers
Better than Joker; BL was a real character study.
Joker?? LMAO
Harvey sustained that deep emotional connection throughout the entire film. Unmatched. Flawless. One of the beat cinematic performances of all time.

BRAVO,WOW, IS KEITEL SENTIMENTS, SPOT ON NOW!!
Wise talented man. He’s so Right Enough with Politics. Not up but I’m in
seriously, this interview is almost 30 years old and everything he says applies to our clownish times.
Gotta give Charlie some props too for letting him monologue
he sounds really smart and humble, and according to some of his friend actors he's also very sweet and kind. This may come as absolutely random but I wonder what his mbti would be

Can't think of an actor I enjoy watching more than Harvey Keitel
"Luckily enough, I chose a path where I ran into myself."
💟HARVEY💟
Charlie was out of his depth
Was it in 1995? When he did " Ulysse Gaze" with Theo Agenlopoulos in greece ? Amazing movie about Serbian war. The movie won special price at cannes.
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡Harvey♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Reminds me of how, Mozart put things into perspective...
Here's a marine saying that educated politicians are too trigger happy and he's right
very true..some of his roles could only be played by him.

That's my opinion.
No we the people have to take back more of the authority, not responsiblity. The responsibility lies with those that comminted the crimes.
"People like me from the lower middle class"
Left school at 16 and joined the marine core.
You're working class, my friend.
I agree, I think he said it in gratitude and to avoid insulting maybe his folks or to avoid lowering the depths of his humble beginnings.
He walked off eyes wide shut as he believed Kubrick was a fruitcake
really? didnt know that thanks
❤️
36 vues? That's say it all...
I think he shot drugs in bad lieutenant
yeah, if not for the shots then definitely for study
There's no god damn jobs in this interview are there?....
