There's just something about Keitel that gets me. His acting always seems so incredibly real, and Mean Streets is one of my favorite movies of its genre. Basically, if Harvey Keitel is in it, I'll give it a watch. Such a cool guy.

I'll add to the list :) one of my faves was Holy Smoke! with Kate Winslet, I believe it's one of his greatest performances. They are FIRE together. He is a dude who rescues and "de-programs" people who fall victim to cults. Great little film. Jane Campion, who directed The Piano. I just love her films too.

that is my one critique of Stephen's, he shuts interviews down suddenly - and so fast - and guests look stunned. But I also think it was really weird how Harvey kept saying his wife was "hungry." I am still thinking on it...that was weird thing to say and that's why I think Stephen shut it down so fast. He did something similar w Hugh Grant and I loved it.

Ive noticed a few guests lately are either surprised at the short interview or perhaps the absence of discussion on why they're truly there. I'm not sure if he just doesn't steer correctly, ask the right questions or maybe I'm just reading too much into it but it's not just Stephen, cause I've noticed it with Seth as well recently. lol! But rather than persistence (Keitel did just let it drop after she refused the third date), the moral of the story seems to be "timing is everything" and "if it's meant to be, it's meant to be." The main reason it didn't work out the first time around is because she was already in a relationship with another man at the time. It's a lovely story!

@@yellowonesdontstop and @Ava Masquerade ~ I only jest, of course. I'm not averse to a little bawdy humor, but nor am I a cad, either. Also, it was a sly double-entendre, as it can be taken a couple of ways. Hungry for a love, for a relationship, not just for the physical act. Think the love connection was there from the start, at least for Harvey. He was smitten at first sight. Happy for him that he got a second bite at the apple, though it's kind of sad it took so long.
Reply above was for Ava, as it wasn't posting to her reply for some reason. In response to your reply, would just say that he was persistent, he just wasn't going to be a pest. Which is a good strategy for both fishing and dating.

@@divagirllove3977 he described it as love first sight, he got two dates out of her even though she was living with another man (so she wasn't very hungry, or she would have pounced on his Hollywood money and fame), doesn't see her for 17 years, sees her and feels the same way after all that time. Now they've been married for 20 years. She's not that pretty, not rich, not famous, not successful, but he always knew she was the one for him. He still sounds in love. Those things don't usually happen in Hollywood.
About being ready to get married, she was available and wasn't before. And he's Harvey Keittel! Of course she was interested. He could have lots of women. Especially after The Piano.
