I gave away my nitro 3.3 e revo, HPI nitro drift, tmax nitro to a family man with a bunch of kids. Instantly missed my cars but knew they were happy. Then karma came around and someone randomly gifted me a nitro truck! Crazy how the world works! One day I’ll get another drift rig. Kevins videos always bring up good memories and inspire me drive more. ❤❤❤
I love nitro drifting🔰 My first nitro drifter was a thunder tiger ts4n. That was about 15 years ago. I'm still drifting nitro today but a hobao hyper 10.

I'm a closet nitro fanatic, enjoyed the video. And that you captured both nitro frustration, nitro tax and nitro serenity all together. Good stuff. Boy it's rewarding when you get it running spot on. You gotta work for it though 😆. Nitro heater next time will help that pullstart starting arm.
Recently acquired the same model and experienced the same problem. Glad I saw this video before spending hours troubleshooting. Issue was with the one-way bearing. Resolved with cleaning with parts cleaner. Cheers!

Use a heat gun to preheat the motor and loosen it up before starting or buy an engine warmer

1:32 Kyosho RTR radios are excellent. I have many high end radios and cheap rtr radios. Kyosho RTR and very very good for RTR. They have tons of adjustments and the wheel is great.
I didn't know kyosho was still making these. awesome. I usually richen a half turn for starting then retune for high end each time. A bit of a pain at first but makes starting much easier

its only three screws, with a new nitro i normally pull the glow plug put a couple drops of oil down it, cycle it with the glow plug out, put the glow plug back in but dont tighten it all the way. also use the idle screw and make the idle a bit higher so it starts easier. once it starts tighten the glow plug, then proper break in after that.

Looked and sounded great when it was running. But pretty poor having a bearing issue when it was fresh out the box
Mistakes happen in production of everything, i recently bought 3 bounty bars in a pack when I opened one of the individual packs there was nothing but air 😂
There was nothing wrong with the one-way bearing, the carb was still at factory settings and the engine won’t produce enough RPM for the clutch shoes too fully engage, what we saw in the video was actually the clutch shoes slipping on the bell-housing. If anyone needs help with their NITRO weapon, please don’t hesitate to ask👍🏼
PS: I’m doing this simply because I love the hobby and want to help anyone who has a NITRO vehicle to enjoy their’s too🙏

Kyosho is one of the most competetive brands in the world. Can't see why they haven't updated their 1/8 GT since it's release. Body is a beauty though.
Funny kyosho is the reason I dont seemuch point in a nitro. But that was back in the nicd MSC brush motor days
if it ain't broke... It's nice when a car has parts available. My x-ray NT1 nitro is 2017, so I'm nervous that I won't find parts for that year soon because they update every year... I'd rather just keep it simple and cheaper. The Kyosho is a great car for bashing
@@lawrencewinter Good point with the Xray. They should be able to support parts even for older designs, but it is the same with the most competetive brands. It is all about being on the edge of the latest developement, to be fastest around the track.
I only drive kyosho, still parts avaiable for my old R4 2011 and new updates from last year.
I remember when RC drift cars first started I had a nitro car and bought drifting wheels and started drifting my nitro RC car,it was a lot of fun.

That why i carry 3-4 extra glow plugs with me, when nitro running, after 2 or 3 tanks i change glow plug. Also Kevin take that pull start off and put a one way bearing so you can start with drill. Much easier 😉👍🏼💯

I don't know much about nitro, but if it's essentially a two stroke, then they can be very fickle indeed when it comes to starting them.

Love the looks of the Mercedes AMG. The more nitro rc cars u review makes me want one. Just the sound of them is cool doesn't look like it was really fast but does look like it drives nice. Sucks u had to fix it first but looks like it's a blast now. Great video can't wait for the next one.

Have you ever heard of the Schumacher storm 1/10 scale stadium truck 3 speed 70 plus mph and they did a on road car 80mph plus and the traxxas 4 Tec 3.3 70mph plus you don't have any knowledge of rtr nitros or any rc history unless you was still in nappies pmsl gimp
@@johncardwell3119 some salt I see but every nitro I've seen so far needs money poured into it and tuning to even come close to electrics performance yea it's fun but at what cost
@@nickbates2009 I have both you just don't know how to make a nitro engine work properly iam a qualified mechanic electrics have come a long way but how many times do you have to charge your batterys for a good few hours of running electric cars etc all you need with nitro is fuel and batterys for your transmitter and a couple of receiver packs glow plug igniter and just to be safe spare glow plugs and your telling me electric is cheaper I have electric and nitro cars and trucks and boats electric is more expensive I don't see any salt

Nitro is a pain in the ass, hardly ever starts, hours of tuning involved, but holy sht it's the best 😍😍😍

I watched your channel for six years straight
1st of all you can most definitely tune a Nitro RC Kevin if you can build a Monster truck and do everything else you do. You are alot like myself and great with your hands and I'd be willing to bet can do anything you put your mind to and or learn quickly when interested and even learn just by eye. Also pretty talented TIG welder man Kev as I have 32yrs experience and you even impressed me. I wish more 2 stroke RC's were made as nothing like when they hit their powerband, almost like when turbos spool up on a vehicle and off to the races ya go.
You got to be one of the best RC drivers 🙏

Awesome! Like all rtr models I have ever owned, this too needs a strip, no matter whether it is a Kyosho or a china special. There is no telling how long it has been sitting in the box. In this case, it was the one-way bearing in the gearbox that was stuck. Always assume it is not really ready to run. By the way, Kev, great video. That dumbo rc never ceases to amaze me. keep on!

Kevin you need to buy a starter box for your nitro stuff. You place the car on top of it, there is a spinning wheel that uses the engines flywheel to spin the engine saving the effort of the annoying pull cord.
It's great fun seeing you struggle with nitro !!!
