Dang, it would be much cooler if my water dilevery drive wore a helmet while making deliveries lol Lol those side pipes on the crashed Camaro dont connect to anything 🤣
These days they would argue, “ if you hadn’t chased him he wouldn’t have crashed, it’s the police departments fault and you owe the runner 1.5 million dollars “
I love how the cars always explode right after everyone gets out, and fuel doesnt burn like that either, fuel vapor burns and it wouldnt cause an explosion like that😂😂😂, good ole ponch😂😂😂
Because of this show everybody to this day thinks a car will explode in an accident. A friend was showing off on a winding road rolled his car down a hill and it landed upside down in a stream. His friends that were behind him ran down the hill to get the passengers and him out of the car. One guy groggily says "I think it's going to blow" to someone dragging him out of the car. Message received. The guy immediately let him go dropping him in the stream and ran back up the hill.
@ Yes. I have always focused on license plates. I grew up in Southern California and the plates on the car can tell you a lot about the cars previous life.
Got to love the passenger side front corner damage on the Camaro when a couple of seconds earlier there's no damage at all and the car didn't hit anything
This is an early 2nd Gen Camaro. 1970-73. The second Gen Camaro was 1970-81 but the front grille changed significantly in 1974. Judging by the picture of it upside down, it has an 8.5” 10-bolt rear. That rear wasn’t used in 1970 or 1971 so this Camaro is either 1972 or 1973. Since this show was in the early 80’s, this generation could be considered a “late model”.
Every car built today is a late model. IN 1942 every car built was a late model in 1942. What did you expect them to call it a classic car just because it's a classic now?
@@jerrycallo His question was why in the early 80’s when this show was first aired is a 10+ year old, early 70’s, second gen Camaro considered a late model when the third gen Camaro came out in 1982. I believe that’s a fair question.
Interesting seeing the "body damage" on the Camaro BEFORE it hits the Lincoln. Kind makes sens as it ran up a ramp. The same ramp that FELL OVER after the Camaro hits it. Also - it's interesting seeing that Chevy Water Truck with the "snow plow" front end - the one who's driver is wearing the helmet. These "clamshell hoods" are usually used on snow plow and other similarly equipped trucks with equipment mounted on the front in order to access the engine.
Wow they're getting a lot of use out of that black Camaro I believe I've seen that thing in other episodes I think it was red and then another color.... I liked it when it was red when the guy stole it from The Car Lot what a badass car I like it better red and I think it had some jet-powered exhaust coming out of the back of it in that episode... who knows maybe it was a different Camaro there was obviously a plentiful amount of them back then
Great TV show if you're into classic cars from the 60's and 70's. Someone commented on another video that most of the chases on this TV show were pretty lame. I think it was meant that the high speed chases and stunts weren't that thrilling.
I guess I expectations are key… in the late 70s/early 80s, when I was a kid growing up watching this show… these chases were thrilling. We had no idea, how cheesy they actually were 😂😂
What's cool is that you can see all the old cars, collectable or not. It's probably the most realistic show in that respect. Even old beaters were in the shots.
Damn, Trisha looked good in that Uniform. Hurts a bit to see that old Camaro get wrecked but that was back when they were practically crawling out of the woodwork.
That same camaro was used in many different scenes. It was originally red and stolen from a used car lot in a different episode which was when the damage occurred i believe.
Used to love this show as a kid. Now, looking at it...well, its definitely dated. Couple big issues: What in the AF is Ponch doin' by telling a fellow officer to stay back like hes afraid she would get damaged. She went to the academy like everyone else and is expected to PERFORM like anyone else. If he was her FTO, then how's she gonna learn? Then the second gen Camaro being chased was a fake hotrod... It had a single exhaust, and the sidepipes weren't connected. But it was California...
She was a rookie that was constantly ignoring her training instructions. It was a basic part of the characters' plot line. It's not like she was going to listen anyway.
Thats not how you do it.. standing at the finish line waving a flag? Tell me the producer/director knows nothing about racing without telling me they know nothing about racing. Also all the cars sitting there would have gotten tickets for attending or something... It kinda looks like my yard, except there is only one Camaro here... and its not pretty.
Bet that Camaro would have run better if those sidepipes had been connected…
he ran out of money cause he lost too much
I was too focused on the hood being unlatched to notice 😅
It would have exploded quicker lol

Liquid fuel won't explode, but the vapors when ignited become a rapidly expand gas. Exhibiting exactly the same characteristics as an explosion.
