Looks like a nice UPS but no usb out to connect to my Unraid server makes it a no go. Seems you would have pointed this out in your review. People are not always there to turn off a PC if power goes out.
Great point, a USB port for communicating with the server would be ideal, bu I didn't about that. I am not using on the server, so it doesn't matter for my application. I still love the unit!
Thanks for the review! Seems a neat unit. I´m running my home server in a HPe DL380 G9 server and have a couple of old UPS but they just don´t handle the server´s need... they run out of juice in like 3 to 5 minutes... no joke, they suck... anyways, it would be nice the manufacturer add some USB or Ethernet ports to monitor they UPS and have it neat on UNRAID. Love your work! Keep video´s coming!
Hey thanks for the review! I was a step ahead of this new video and I got the CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD3 Intelligent LCD UPS System, 1500VA/900W, 12 Outlets, 2 USB Ports, AVR, Mini Tower Pheww what a powerhouse!
Thank you for the video, do you have contacts at GoldMate that you can give them feedback for USB monitoring? Either way, I am picking one up. I am tired of replacing the battery every few years. Thank you
Its not a UPS worth getting if it hasn't got at least USB communication to automate the shutdown of a PC or Server before the battery is 100% flat including shutdown of the UPS well before battery is 100% drained. With 10 hours to recharge you don't want a situation that the UPS is completely drained, the power comes back on, your server is set to auto start when power is detected and while the server is booting back up the power goes off again and the server suffers another hard shutdown, this defeats the purpose of a UPS and I got a feeling UNRAID wont be happy, UNRAID also supports a bunch of UPS's for controlled shutdown and many UPS's have settings that control what battery state the UPS shuts itself down or even some of the UPS power outlets. Also on their site it says even though you can shut the alarm off it will "continuously alerts with an alarm when the battery level drops below 25%." That is the last thing I want when power goes out at 2:00am and I have no automated control with an UPS that is on a path to 100% power drain along with a lot of annoying beeps in the middle of the night. Also for general info "This UPS is estimated to run for 30 minutes at half load, 10 minutes for a full load" that is quite good.
Thanks for sharing that info, I am not running the UPS on my server, so the missing shutdown feature doesn't matter to me. I totally understand the beeping at 2am issue! It's in my basement, so I wouldn't hear it anyway. You make some good points, and I am sure the community will appreciate them. Thanks again.
@@soana65 not sure about user manual.. but under settings there's a UPS icon. Once you have your UPS connected via USB to your server click on that and it's right there. Battery level % to initiate shutdown.... You put the percentage you want. That's it

Same here no USB or network connection equals a no go for me.

Thanks, glad you liked the video! It would be really nice to be able to monitor those units from Unraid.

It would be cool if you did a video setting up a ups that automates safe shutdown thru unraid configs
It's extremely simple and self explanatory.
