  • The Dodge Viper is an amazing car. It's been a car I've dreamed of owning for many years, and loved as a kid. Here's what made me want to purchase a 2004 Dodge Viper, what some would call the ugly duckling generation of the revered V10 machine.

    The Viper is the one sports car I own that when people ask "What is it like driving a Viper? What does the Viper compare to?" the only honest response that I can give is "Driving a Viper is like driving a Viper." Simply because I have not driven anything within my lifetime, so far, that is similar in feel and handling to my Viper to me. I don't find the Viper to be better than or less than other great sports car brands, the Viper is just.... different.

    just bought a gen 3 as well love it man, was my favorite car in HS. its the "more affordable" viper for sure. I been lookin for a few years on and off. i had the chance to get a 2004 in 2019 for around 39,500. man have they jumped up after covid. I got a 2003. it was priced right. has 50k miles on it but in good shape.

    Did you get the heads and cam? If so, hopefully you went big on the cam!
    If you still have it, are you in the market to sell?

    • @bsmitley
      @bsmitley  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I opted to hold out on the heads and cam for the time being. The money I would have invested I could have made an amazing down payment on a gen 5 and figured I'd just let this value hold steady while I enjoy it.
      As most car owners, everything is for sale for the right price 😂 but I'm not currently looking to move it.

    Can’t you take the interior and stuff from gen 5 since gen 3-5 are interchangable

    • @bsmitley
      @bsmitley  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're thinking of gen 4. Gen 5 is a completely new platform. There might be some interchangeable things, but I've personally never seen a gen 5 to 3 swap from interior.

    • @A_SIMPLE_JOURNEY
      @A_SIMPLE_JOURNEY ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bsmitley oh, maybe that is the case but I’ve already seen someone completely swap the exterior from gen 5 to gen3 and it looks exactly like a gen 5. So wouldn’t the interior do the same

    • @bsmitley
      @bsmitley  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@A_SIMPLE_JOURNEY yeah I saw that as well, crazy. I'm not that versed in swapping in regards to cars, but having been in both gens that doesn't seem like an easy feat. I'd much rather just put that money down as a down payment on a gen 5 😅

    Greetings from Finland. I had Gen 1 for several years. Then went few years without Viper until I bought gen 3 2006 convertible. I've had that for 4 years now and couldn't be happier. Vipers are definitely different beasts compared to corvettes.

      @@bsmitley Gen 4 and 5 had electronic throttles, and gen 1 and 2 were much more rough around the edges, which makes me feel like this is the Viper to have. Yes it isn't as analog with ABS, but come on, this is one of the scariest cars ever made, I'd rather have ABS than not.
