It's so cool to hear Paul talk about the thematic arc of his band's output and how he intentionally wanted to provide a "vibe" with lyrics and packaging that put his audience into a certain headspace. I can say emphatically that he was successful, because that vibe is I think the central reason I just cannot stop listening to these guys, and I think exactly what I was hoping to hear him speak to when I hit play on this video. In retrospect OF COURSE it was intentional, it would be amazing if that were all just accidental. I love how he teases Luminescent Bridge by saying they're hoping to cohere the intensity and ambient on the next work, they completely nailed it.
I'm not a long time death metal listener, I'm near 40 years old and have barely touched the genre, but this band has completely sucked me in over the past year or so.

24:40 Sinking Into Transparency by Purulence is most definitely a quintessential precursor to Gorguts' Obscura.
A damn shame that there isn't a Purulence full-length elaborating on the fundamentals of that specific song before Steeve joined Gorguts.
