To me there’s 3 options of what’s going on here with Caleb and Rome. Because let’s remember Rome also isn’t signed yet. My top guess is they were just waiting for Hard Knocks to be in town in full force which happened this last Sunday and then they’ll sign tomorrow. Option 2, both were out of town enjoying the little offseason they get as rookies and haven’t been able to even be in the building to sign contracts until today or tomorrow. Option 3,(the most doubtful I’d hope) some how the Bears front office is completely fucking this up. Rome has an agent so it’s not just some bs Caleb’s lawyers would be causing if that were to be the case.
The fact that it is both 1st rounders says it is probably more logistics of getting together to work through the details of what is mostly a per-negotiated deal with minimal nuances. It is possible they want HBO there for it, but given their long-time hesitance to Hard Knocks I have a hard time believing George McCaskey is angling for camera time.

I genuinely think this new front office has finally made the whole family realize it’s time to step back and let the people you hired do their job. To me both of them being unsigned is what led me more towards it being for Hard Knocks and now after them both signing today, a day after Hard Knocks officially started filming I’m leaning even more towards that way. This morning I had a wild take that I said had a .00001% chance of happening which was Hard Knocks previewing the Bears Hard Knocks tonight on the Giants show by showing both players get signed. Now after what’s happened today I honestly think it’s more like a 25% chance. What better way to drag some people into watching the Bears Hard Knocks than putting a preview of their 2 top 10 picks getting signed after a couple weeks of Bears fans and some media talking all about it. People have to remember the NFL is still an entertainment industry.

Assuming that’s what the Bears offered from the get go which I assume it was then what was there to negotiate? Because the guarantees and the signing bonus are what you’re negotiating for the most part lol.
