This song could had been my winner if it had qualified for Eurovision (it stayed in the semi final of 29 countries(it came 24th)). Easily on the biggest ESC crimes ever! The song is so catchy! Juries didn't appreciated it
The thing is, while I applaud the UK for giving this 10 points in the preselection, had they have given this the 12 (and consequently given the 10 to Ireland) then this would have qualified instead of Finland.

It's not strange the UKs Gina G qualified for Eurovision and this didn't. They were both eurodance a bit too modern for Eurovision at that time. Boring Irish Ballads were drowning the competition, the UK and Germany were desperate to bring the competition more up to date. UK offered a number one hit that went on to sell millions, became a massive hit in America and was nominated for a Grammy. It still remains one of the biggest hits from Eurovision, even though it never came close to winning the competition (Boring conservative juries probably didn't approve of such a modern song). And Germany offered up this...? Not quite in the same league, however it should still have qualified but the same boring juries, who loved a boring Irish ballad, didn't vote for it.
In the mid 1990's UK was trying to be modern; 1994 they went funk with Frances Ruffelle, 1995 they went hip hop with Love City Groove, 1996 they went dance with Gina G. But they won in 1997 when they gave the juries what they wanted, a non-threatening generic ballad. They returned the following with R'n'B and almost won, but no quite. I think the BBC frustrated with the contest and it's unwillingness to accept modern genres. So they gave up trying.

I think the only countries (in terms of their juries) who also wanted to bring the contest up to date were 🇫🇷 (12 to UK in 1995, 8 in 1996), 🇵🇹 (10 in 1995, 12 in 1996) and 🇧🇪 (7 in 1995, 12 in 1996).
Uk and Germany were the most modern. I'm from the uk, we tried something modern every year, which should've won, or got a high placing. We only won when we tried something that wasn't as modern, and was a repeat of the ballads, which is confusing. 1998 was more modern, and had much more power, as with 1995, 1996, 1999, 1994, 1993, 1992!

Biggest injustice in Eurovision, there were actually crap songs which reached the final (Spain, Iceland, Bosnia&Herzegovina or Finland) can't believe this wasn't there...juries might thought with UK the festival was already modern enough, not room enough for two great pop-dance songs...shame on you!

Well, Gina G did use the orchestra - a minimal string and harp arrangement. I think something similar could have been adopted here - most evident during the bridge of this song, ‘cause Germany weren’t really at the anti-orchestra sentiment yet (this would cement itself in the gap between 1996 and 1997, possibly as a result of this not qualifying).
Haha this is the song that did not make it to final because it was deemed "too bad" in the prequalifying round. Little did Europe know that Germany was to send Michelle, Gracia or Corinna May in the following years.

It would have qualified had they had 25 songs instead of just 23.
