I love watching a black Strat build. And glad you got the one ply pg, too many people put 3 ply on a black Strat which looks awful. Now get the magic switch and you’ll discover more tones :)
Thanks! :) Unfortunately I ended up changing my HX Stomp to Focusrite Scarlett + Amplitube5, and I don't have the unit anymore. But as far as I remember, I was using WhoWatt (Hiwatt) amp and Triple Rotary (Yamaha RA-200 Rotary Speaker), and some plate reverb.
Last summer I had very similar project. I bought Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster Candy Apple Red Body without any other parts. So I have to buy also neck, pickups, and saddle system. Saddle system was cheap, but neck was 79€, and pickup system was Fender Vintage Pickups, which was 229€. I alsi had to send my guitar to professional instrument fixer to finishing the neck. I also ask him to add a logo what I had designed by myself, in to the neck's head. And because body was from Squier, but neck and pickup system were from Fender, I decide to give guitar a totally own name, and that name was HeartBlade. I admit that, I take little bit inspiration from Gilmour's Candy Apple Red Strat, but also from Clapton's Torino Red Strat. It doesn't have actual same features, but it have a tone and sound of Vintage Fender.
Nice job, I went all black on my project, all black controls, trem block, pickup covers and pick guard, graphite nut and tuners and trees. Rosewood fretboard so all pretty dark aside from head. Hope you're enjoying it. Thanks for the vid. I'm too lazy to edit my footage.
Thanks! I like it very much, it’s funny how visually pleasing gears makes you wanna play more, hah! Your version sounds great too, looking forward to see your project here in TH-cam :)
Of course, you still have the “Gilmour wiring mod” to do, so that the neck pickup can be used together with the bridge. There are several ways to do this, and some newer selector switches that can do this and more.
I hope you're proud 👏 because you should be that is fucking awesome ❤ 😊 inspires me to do the same, but I don't have your skills, one question have you considered adding the mini toggle for additional pick up? Thank you now rock it out my man! I'll probably watch this 4 or 5 more times cheers 🍻
Thanks mate!🍻 I was considering the mini toggle switch, but decided to leave it for later since I ended up using pre-wired CS 69 pickguard. But that would be a really cool feature to have! And about the skills; it was mostly assembling and replacing the parts, so if I could do it, you can too!😄 And I also used a professional guitar tech guy for lowering the nut, which would have been more difficult to do by myself.
For me with those parts it was somewhere around ~850€ / ~915$ ( + Fender Player series Strat). Some money can be saved if being able to find second hand parts in good condition👍
Hi, I ordered the neck from Thomann, It is this one www.thomann.co.uk/fender_neck_50s_clsc_laqr_strat_mn.htm?__cTr=47d01e96-88ff-4e87-833f-6979f8224190&shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOjJ9&reload=1&atr=true
what kind of failed string job was that? ends are supposed to go down the inside of the split shaft to save a sharp end dangling out and as part of the passive locking feature... other than that, nice guitar
Beautiful build !! I did same thing but I have Daphne blue , cream guard , fat 50s…. Gotta love that soft v 7.25 !!!
Nice! Loving your build. One thing, The Black Strat had a charvel I think) neck with a Fender decal. It definitely wasn’t a fender neck. 👍🏼🎸
Pros: beautiful replica guitar, nearly faithful reproduction, tight camera work and editing, correct tuners and neck profile, fabulous guitar playing. Cons: missing secret Gilmore pickup switch, wammy bar too long. 9.5/10 Bravo.

My god!! What a beatiful neck...all the guitar is awesome, but the neck is incredible. Congratulations!
Lovely job and nice playing too, Can you share your HX stomp "Gilmore" settings buddy?
