After a cancelled ‘trip of a lifetime’ to Europe that I was so looking forward to in 2020 (everything was booked, payed for after years of saving, and holidays from work finally approved), COVID ruined that - but I look forward to the future with optimism. 2023 will be my next big trip - to the USA and Europe hopefully on Qantas business class on (hopefully again) the A380. It’s great that we are taking small steps to travel getting back to some sort of normality (the Emirates A380 returning to MEL signifies that). Here’s to being able to travel the world again! ✈️ 🌎 👍🍻
I can still remember the first time I saw an A380 in person. I was in a 747 taxiing at LAX. I had told my wife what I was looking for, explaining that it would be double decker the whole airplane, not just a little. She saw it first, out the opposite side of the 747. We have been lucky enough to have flown a few times in the Quantis A380s. My wife is not the best passenger, but the A380 is so smooth that she once fell asleep on taxi and woke up 3 hours later asking if we had taken off yet! Wife and kids had flights booked to MEL for June 2020......looking like they might make it this year. Hopefully travel can safely get back to normal soon. Sorry for the rambling comment, but your excellent video got me reminiscing international travel.
@@set3777 As a passenger, having empty seats beside you is nice, for the airlines, empty seats hurt the bottom line. The A380 's days were numbered, before the pandemic. As great as the A380 is it's downfall will be it's size and number of seats. Maybe it will see a future in cargo.
I love the A380, the look of it is inspiring for a commercial airliner. I'd say nice to fly in too but to me anything that can fly is fun. Especially Gliders, the grass roots of Aviation.
I remember rhe day the first a380 came to brisbane, there were so many plane spotters, the plane was so big..loved it...just wish i could afford to fly in one.
Sorry for inturrupting your filming Stefan! But was honestly worth it to be able to meet someone who represents aviation Enthusiasts across Australia so well! The fact that emirates has invited you to see this aircraft speaks to just how big of an impact your channel has to so many people who adore the aviation industry!
Great Video as always Stef! I went plane spotting at Melbourne about 2 weeks ago on top off T4 Carpark, was good to see the airport busy again especially with international aircraft
As someone who works in aviation and at Melbourne Airport, I could not be more excited to see the return of the Emirates A380! Love the video and fantastic editing showcasing the aircraft and what an exciting time this is for the industry ✈️
I was lucky enough to continue to travel in 2020 and 2021 down to the Dominican Republic from the USA. I have a family home there and wanted to make sure the local resort staff was supported in a small way. I was shocked and happy to see how many Americans fled to the DR during that time to escape the craziness here. Even still they took a huge hit like every other tourist dominated country and I agree get out there and support the places and countries we haven't for years. I'd love to come to Australia and see friends there ASAP!
Working as cabin crew for one of the major airlines in Australia I 100% agree with what you said in your video Stefan. We need to get the aviation industry back on its feet again and there is no better way of doing that than by getting people to travel again. Love your content! Very awesome of Emirates to offer this sort of thing!
Dude '22.. I'm going to be flying massive in my Skyranger I bought just before covid and needed overhaul and haven't gotten it working properly until now. Big up 2022 for all aviation enthusiasts! Keep up the good work!
Once again what a fantastic job you've done mate. Emirates should be very happy with the plug you've given them. I've only flown on the A380 twice, & everything you said about them is spot on. Smoothest, quitest ride I've ever experienced. Now I wish I could afford the shower experience. Also loved what you said about the staff. I worked for many years in the entertainment industry, & while it's been over 20 years since my last pro gig. All my old road crew find themselves in the exact same predicament. Both industries have lost a lot of experienced staff that frankly have the last 2 years may never what to go back into such a risky business. I really feel for those that their job is their dream, to loose it due to something out of their control really is heartbreaking.
Some of the videos taken of the 380 during certification flights are simply awesome especially the max crosswind landings. The Queen is still my favourite. I must add however I’ve never flown in the 380 but great see it here again.
My first trip to Aus was Emirates from Chicago to Perth and the Dubai to Perth leg was a 380 . What a great experience, airline and aircraft. Can't wait to do it again.
We did Sydney - Honolulu - Vancouver - Banff - Seattle - Honolulu - Sydney with Hawaiian, Westjet, Alaska & back home with Hawaiian between over the last 2.5 weeks was so great to travel again and especially get to fly somewhere. I missed it :-)
Flipping love the A380 such a shame the last one has been built. I’ll be travelling at least three times internationally i hope this year. Although the long haul will be on a 787…
Another great video Stefan! Editing and music all on point :) Made me nostalgic for the aircraft inspections I used to do in my old job. Hopefully I'll be able to do a few in the year to come! Keep up the great work
Oh hell yeah!! Sooo keen to get travelling again! This vid put a big smile on my face.. Im also a pvt pilot, though to be a passenger on one of these bad girls, heading to a destination we've only dreamed about for the last couple years... wow, honestly brings a tear to my eye. Great vid Stef 🤙
I look forward to the return of the A380, but for more, the Qantas A380. The $49 worth every single cent for having such a close look at one of the biggest and greatest aircraft
I hope one day I get to be on an a380 or get nice and up close like you did Stef. This video is really cool, and puts more perspective into the sheer size of the a380 compared to a person. Have a good night Stef, cheers
This has got me pumped for flying again! Booked on to a flight to NYC from the UK next month… cannot wait! Look forward to the day I get to fly back out to Melbourne again ✈️🤘🏻
If I see a Stefan drury video I get excited if I see an a380 video I get excited if I see an emirates a380 video from Stefan drury I whatch the entire thing no mercy
Love the vid stef. I'm so happy the emirates A380 is back in melbourne I watched it fly past my house 8 min from landing at 11 o'clock at night. And also keep up the great work
It is always staggering to see with ones own two eyeballs the sheer size the A380... some serious black magic makes that thing fly! Thanks Stef for the video.
Ah, mate, you are a lucky devil to get to an A 380 whilst we( all others in Victoria) have had to cope with two years of cancellations, credits and probable refunds. You are correct, all we ought to do now is make bookings and bookings to places OS and resume what we love to do ( and hope that double vacs and a big booster will make a difference) .Hope that all your future flying is in blue skies. Xheers
I've been on many flights with different wide-body, narrow-body planes and I can confidently say that A380 is the smoothest and most stable plane to fly, for example when it takes off it seems like you stepped on an escalator and you are just gliding upwards, same for landing, no violent shakiness or jitters. I miss flying A380. Also, they should've paid for your parking lol
It's weird to see an A380 as someone who works on the ramp at a small-ish airport in the US. I'm used to A320s and 737s, so it's really bizzare to me to see how...small the A380 is for its capacity. Despite being huge, it seems much smaller than I ever expected!
Well @Steph - I'd love to travel and come to Australia, but as you know I can't (from the USA)... I had a trip to Australia booked in 2020 that would have included a couple of new aircraft types (including the A380); however, you know how that went. Trip was booked solely on miles and since mileage prices have risen (huge increases) I no longer have the miles needed. I'll go somewhere eventually, but for now I'm limited - both by the virus rules and increasing prices.
So excited to be travelling again- so much so that I even have a countdown to my little measly trip to Melbourne next month! Can't wait for the smell of jet engine once again- 2 holidays have now been cancelled on me during this time- incidentally my latest one was due to be paid off today :( . So that money is now going towards a big ass trip to the Big Apple when all this crap is done with- always wanted to go to New York!
I want to fly again but WA's indefinite hard border is getting in the way. Done a lot of intrastate travel over the past 2 years and even managed to sneak in a few interstate trips while borders were briefly open.
When was this shot? I flew in yesterday and was quite happy to see one back at the gates. The Singapore 747 cargo was also in town. Quite the time to fly in.
International travel in the Asia pacific is now at about 7% of pre-pandemic levels, there's still lots of Pilots driving taxis and doing other things etc. It's going to be difficult for plenty of airlines to crew their aircraft with experienced aviators as plenty of us have left the industry permanently, Emirates is no exception in this regard, particularly on the 777.
Still had to pass through the same security checks as non-ASIC holders and still needed an escort airside. It just made registering my details with security easier to be honest.
Ummmmmmm the A380 has still been flying on and off to MEL since the pandemic started with China Southern. Not sure what the big fuss is with EKs A380's returning???
Travel can't resume until we can all be sure that countries won't lock borders or ban flights and people at a moments notice. I won't even leave NSW for that reason as well, let alone OS. And my hundreds of thousands of FF points sit unused.
im gonna get majorly cancelled for this, but I find it a shame when such magnificent planes like the airbus here after over 20 years of fighting, are brought to an end due to a pandemic and the fact that American aviation companies were unable to match the A380 with a plane so advanced, and theirfor having it banned from their market, but oh well, their will be another airbus that will revolutionise air travel as we know it, I mean the A380 isn't even the first vastly successful airbus plane that has stretched the imagination and overtaken the American aviation industry. the first aircraft was infact the concord, which although did not fly the airbus banner, was the form of a partnership and an idea that kick started airbus.
Governments need to get rid of all covid restrictions, vaccines passes, testing and most of all mask wearing. Until these things are done, most people will not want to travel.
Great but let's not forget alot of folks nvr even flown on an a380 and or hardly even traveled. So pls guys be sensitive when you talk about hey let's go travel blah blah blah...I had my fair share of travel but I certainly don't talk Abt it esp during tough times like this pandemic...

ONLY two of Qantas's 12 A380s are back flying.
How many of the Emirates' over 100 A380s are actually back?
@@set3777 As a passenger, having empty seats beside you is nice, for the airlines, empty seats hurt the bottom line. The A380 's days were numbered, before the pandemic. As great as the A380 is it's downfall will be it's size and number of seats. Maybe it will see a future in cargo.
More likely a future in aviation museums.....sadly.

Great video Stef…and steaming this on Qantas inflight wifi. Can’t miss a video when it drops!

Thanks JB, definitely good to see more people and planes at the airport in 2022.

Great to see the old girl alive again. I've still never seen one in person. I was one of the many thousands who helped design her.

Cheers Roman, I'll be doing what I can to support the industry this year. Yes let's hope we can get travel happening again for others in 2022.;
love the aviation content (and the aviation industry) starting to roll back to some sort of normal
Cheers Dominik
Love the Victor Pody cameo! Another great video Stef! Thanks for sharing!
Stef, thank you so much for the encouraging words. They are much needed for us who works during such challenging time in the industry.
Dude '22.. I'm going to be flying massive in my Skyranger I bought just before covid and needed overhaul and haven't gotten it working properly until now. Big up 2022 for all aviation enthusiasts! Keep up the good work!
Love the big (really big) birds 😍 I need to go spotting again sometime soon. Awesome video and how lucky to be able walk around it, sooooo jealous 😎
I like that you tell people to book tickets and go travel again. Thinking about other people and jobs. Upbeat youtuber

I must add however I’ve never flown in the 380 but great see it here again.
I know people say it’s big and ugly but in my eyes it’s a beautiful bird and the most comfortable ride in the skies 😍✈️❤️
What a video stef
I am so excited. Trip back to UK on Qantas 787-9 in April and as a treat to myself, going Business. First flight since 2019.
BA is bringing theirs back as well Stefan,Great video.
Signs of the recovery.
Amazing
My first trip to Aus was Emirates from Chicago to Perth and the Dubai to Perth leg was a 380 . What a great experience, airline and aircraft. Can't wait to do it again.

It's not your 747 but it sure is a good substitute! Blue skies !!!
Nice video Stef! Its good to see the Emirates a380 back in Australia!👍
Great video!
I remember when the a380s were released John Travolta did a 2 part tv special on the aircraft, was a great doco!
Flipping love the A380 such a shame the last one has been built. I’ll be travelling at least three times internationally i hope this year. Although the long haul will be on a 787…
Stef and Victor at YMML you couldn’t ask for more than that 👍
"Ahh, Jet Fuel. I missed that!" Stefan Drury. 🤣
Nice view from below. I was onbard that aircraft the day you were filming and it was a great 14 hour flight to Dubai 🔥🔥
Another great video Stefan! Editing and music all on point :) Made me nostalgic for the aircraft inspections I used to do in my old job. Hopefully I'll be able to do a few in the year to come! Keep up the great work

I’m going this April to Dubai on the A380 from Zurich, Switzerland, can’t wait.
Should have checked the paint situation on the qatar 350 next to you😂
3:12 Hi Tom, as a big fan you may want to wait until someone finishes their piece to camera before blurting all over the audio. :D
This has got me pumped for flying again! Booked on to a flight to NYC from the UK next month… cannot wait! Look forward to the day I get to fly back out to Melbourne again ✈️🤘🏻
Nice vid. Sure am eager to travel again. Love travelling, airplanes and flying👍🏾
Same here, thanks for watching
Flew on an emirates A380 from Singapore to Melbourne in business class, it was the best flight I’ve ever had

by far my faviroute aircraft

Need to get back to on the A380.
Flew A380 London > Singaporen recently - such a shame this is going away, takes off without you noticing it's so smooth.
I admit to being an A380 fan
You lucky, lucky bastard.
eyy I live like 5 minutes drive from melb airportt nice viddd
Thanks Mitch, enjoy watching the A380 fly over.
Interesting the A380 has the VH identity on the undercarriage door: nose wheel?
🤔🇦🇺
Same here
Quick question. How do manage to film in a airport or very public place?
Is it still flying to Auckland as part of its route
You are overdue for a foreign trip mate. A trip to Dubai on Emirates A380 will not be a bad idea.
Yeah I'm really keen to travel overseas. Been over 2yrs since I left Australia last, that's a long time for me.
Yes I'd love to go travelling!! Unfortunately Mark McGowan says other wise ;(((
Did having an ASIC already make it easier to get airside? My plan is to still head to the states later this year for a few months.
Still had to pass through the same security checks as non-ASIC holders and still needed an escort airside. It just made registering my details with security easier to be honest.
So... I'm guessing you won't be getting hassled by security until at least july then?
!!
I used to call it the fat pig when I worked on it. But damn I miss it!!! 😪😪
second
After flying on Emirates … I don’t why us Australians waste our money on Qantas!
Ummmmmmm the A380 has still been flying on and off to MEL since the pandemic started with China Southern.

$49! I need to build a carpark. That’s where the money is.
Can I come stay with you in Australia? Haha
The smell of jet fuel in the morning................

"EXPO2020 Dubai" LMFAO I'm sure that event went well...
hello love your content plz replie
Covid 19 is over?
Best $49 you've spent , I reckon haha
Don’t worry you’re hair is ok...
Well worth $49.
It’s not a pleasant experience at all, for ordinary customers.(pre Covid)
Travel is good but when the Purebloods can travel freely again without a jab passport, then it will take of again.
Great but let's not forget alot of folks nvr even flown on an a380 and or hardly even traveled. So pls guys be sensitive when you talk about hey let's go travel blah blah blah...I had my fair share of travel but I certainly don't talk Abt it esp during tough times like this pandemic...
Travel again? What a joke. NZ has announced they are closed until at least JULY.
DO NOT GO AND TRAVEL. Bad advice mate. Unaustralian
