Of course we will support the Photon Mono 6K as soon as possible (hopefully in our next point update)!
About the Joker/Batman issues that you see in the slicer: it would have been the same in Lychee Slicer, not Photon Workshop fault. This model has been hollowed in an old version of another slicer which generate this, well, troublesome topology that even netfabb has a hard time fixing... Bring that in Lychee Slicer, it will be full red...
Fact! Exported stl files from chitubox needs repair or else big chances to fail anywhere else.
@@pecwhist Hollowed models are problematics, if not, it's ok :)
@@Lychee3d Around when Lychee supports Mono X 6K? I got the printer but the bundled slicer sucks. Thanks.
@@billlee8386 we should have a beta support in our next release. We are working with Anycubic to provide support to all their new printers.
Thanks gents!
Every time you make a new file format, a baby cries for no reason.
bwahaha
It would be cool if these companies:
-Agreed to a file format.
-Allowed end users to pick their own slicer.
It seems like a lot of these companies are trying to push each other out of the market and we, the end user, are suffering for it.
democracy and capitalism, there is no way around this, only monopolies and they are detrimental, solution should be a concentrated form of capitalist competition and them wide implementation, let see what future solutions we will come up with.
So necessary!!
Completely unnecessary
They included the same screen protector on my mono x 4K which I think is a new thing they are doing. Definitely a nice and neccessary addition.
Mine dont have the screen protector..well , good luck to yuo
“a miserable experience” - oof. I can hear the pain in your voice when you’re talking about using Photon Workshop! 😂
Do you know if Lychee is actually working on this? Can they really promise to be compatible with other slicers in the future?
They replied on Twitter and said its coming soon that they are actively working on it
Nooo not photon workshop! I can't, I just can't go back to that. I do love that they are continuing to push resin printing forward but I'd personally like to see more quality of life upgrades like say quick release FEP sheets where you can just lock on a new one in one step or built in heating so every print can finish no matter where you are forced to place them, outside in sheds and so on. A really decent wireless solution where I can fully control the printer remotely including turning it on, warming it up, checking on its current resin levels and ya know, all that good stuff. So much they could add that isn't directly about upping the resolution every time as there really are diminishing returns there.
Yeah those are some great leaps/improvements that could be made in this space. Can’t wait for the official Lychee/Chitu release… and agreed Workshop is no bueno
I set some hopes in this free slicer - thanks to your huge efforts I keep my hands from this - for now ☺️👍
Lychee already supports the the mono x. Not sure if it’s put for the 6k in yet though? But I find the photon workshop works well too if you set it up correctly. Just don’t use the basic settings !! 👍🏼
Any word if the existing Mono X can be upgraded to the 6K screen? I run a series of Mono X's for my print farm and would like to upgrade instead of replacing all of them.
Well, its a diferent screen, appart of that , evrything is the same, so i think yuo need the new screen and the new firmware(mono x 6k), its should work(if the motherboard is the same)
Love that Joker bust. Good work as usual Jessy!
You can do all supports in chitubox, then import supported file into photon workshop as an obj, and do the hollowing an slicing there to avoid those pixel artefacts. Thats how i used my Photone S, and yes its kind of pain.
Same, been using my Mono X this way from pretty much the start.
Didn't have those pixel artifacts though, just Photon WS supports were crap and it kept crashing. Photon WS does do great hollowing though. I've only seen those On/Off vertical pillars when the models have open faces (model is effectively broken) and then the slicer sees those as "Oh you want to print a pillar up to this point/oh you want a hole up to this point".
heyy Jess i had the same issue with my prints and just try this: do not hollow models in Photon workshop! every time i did i had this fail just try chitubox slice and then photon workshop.
the hollowing is awful in phon somehow it make unpredictide errors so i recomand hollow in 3d softwares like z brush
I've been getting massive print failures on this machine.. Gamza said you had the same issues with mangled prints.. sometimes I get a success and it looks amazing but most fail. I heard its a slicer issue, have. You found a fix for this?
Freaking love flexis, somewhat new to resin printing and have a mono standard, the smaller one. What would be the recommended slicer ? Using chitubox
Lychee is incredible! Love that program.
I would just mention: The need for their new format is probably do to having to test and quality control the sample pieces coming off of it and make it easier to troubleshoot problems at the start, until the other slicer devs have time to work out support for the Photon Mono X 6k. If they went the other route of having either an open format or package another slicer, it would make troubleshooting problems a LOT more difficult.
Did you have any problems with this printer since this "first look" just cause I ordered this in a BFDeal with the wash&Cure (my first ever 3D printer) is there anything why you wouldn't recommend it? also would you recommend an FBS Plate for it? Thx best regards
Hi Uncle Jessy, my son and my wife have been wanting to get a 3d resin printer. I was just wondering if the issues you had experienced with the mono x 6k have since been fixed, thank you so much
Slide a tray between your vat and the build plate before removing it to keep the resin drips off of your machine. Even a piece of cardboard will work.
That laser etching is very interesting. Nice to see manufacturers working to fix some of the build plate issues. Love that screen protector as well, great idea. Wonder if UV Tools can convert files out of Lychee. Town print looks ICY clean. WTF is wrong with that slicer? Those artifacts are common with prints with holes in them, but those files, I believe are clean! How dumb that Photon Workshop cant handle other programs.
The photon workshop can't handle tiny overlapping surfaces and open faces that well , which is exactly what supports in Chitubox are ...
EASY FIX: export to stl with supports via chitu, open this file in Windows 10 3D builder and press the button in the right hand corner which says its non-manifold. 3D builder takes some time to fix all the issues and then it's ready to export, which you can then import in the photon workshop
those "scatters" occur when an enclosed volume appears inverted to the software. So it's interpreted as a place where it needs to put material and vice versa, with these weird "pillars" and holes as a result
It can handle chitubox supports, but chitubox hollowing is just a nonmanifold mess
Can u plz do a video on printing flexible models on resin printers Iv tried printing the slug to no success
I've been looking forward to you reviewing this. 35 micron resolution on an affordable mid size mono printer seems too good to be true! Thanks for the preview and giving us your thoughts.
Dont work for Anycubic by any chance, do ya? 😜
Do we know if Lychee supports the mono x 6K? I really wanting to pull the trigger on getting one.
hi! bottom exposure time for the dragon?
Hey Uncle Jessy, I would really really really love to get a resin printer but I'm hesitant because I live in an apartment and scared of fumes/smell. I wouldn't put the print in my bedroom, I would put it in my "office" but the problem is I work on a computer all day in that office... so I'm not sure sitting there smelling fumes all day would be good. Any recommendations?
Can you share the settings for mono X 6K and Craftsman resin? I've had this printer for two weeks. Amerlabs test prints over an hour and 20 minutes. 7 cm bust prints over 6 hours! What am I doing wrong ? Please help and thank you Uncle Jessy
Did the issues get resolved? Thinking about ordering this today
Was the time the Slicer indicated accurate? I am thinking about getting an SLA printer would like to get an idea of print times? Also what size was the batman print? Thanks! Great video
Is it apricot or beige resin? Wanna know if its actually craftsman resin, didn't find any real photo witch will show real difference (
What software would you recommend - for Any Cubic Mono X
i love videos like these that go over everything
Do you think there are any downsides to using the screen protector?
oh dear you used chitubox to hollow. chitu often gives errors with hollowing. if i am forced to use the photon workshop i tend to hollow with 3d builder or with meshmixer due to lychee will not export with a hole with the hollow.
might be worth running the files into 3d builder to check for errors after using chitu to hollow
Slicers for resin printers are not yet developed like for example Ultimaker Cura, I want to print some functional parts not figures out of resin
So, a year later; has this issue been fixed? Looking to get my first resin printer and I'm considering this as alternative to the Mars 3 pro I was otherwise going to get (because larger plate). Any help/info appreciated!
From my experience hollowing in Chitubox causes the models to break and causes the artefacts that can be seen in Photon Workshop and Lychee, there are several others on TH-cam who've backed this up. My workflow consists of hollowing in Lychee, adding drain holes in Chitu, Supports in Lychee before exporting the plate as an stl and slicing in Photon Workshop (Anti-Aliasing does not work for me in other slicers).
Hey man there's a way to fix those artifacts that might be easier. Do supports, hallows, and punches in any program you like. Then export as an STL and open the STL file with 3d builder, it's a free Microsoft program that likely already installed if you have windows, it'll say it needs to "repair" the file, it takes some time but once it's don't it'll fix the artifacting issue, I do literally everyone on chito with this method, if you have a Mac just looks for a program that can repair 3d files!
@@B.treveton It's not that easy on mac. Majority of apps that used to be able to perform this are no longer supported and do not have Mac versions or are paywalled. Then the online versions have a max file size of 100mb which doesn't work for large pieces. Meshmixer I found is okay at best for small models but doesn't handle supported models well, so repairs have to be done beforehand.
Chitubox also does not run well at all on Mac in my experience. A little less stuttery and laggy than photon workshop, but it's still not a pleasant experience for me in comparison to lychee which runs like butter no matter how many models I'm supporting at once.
Lychee is what works for me on Mac, I just wish you could export holes in an stl and that anti aliasing actually worked for anycubic printers.
@@andygrech I got ya, and yeah no kidding, I'm not sure how old your printer is but I know anycubic released an update for anti-alias not too long ago, I print at 0.03 layer hight and don't see lines, I can't remember if it lets you choose between x2, x4, or x8 for it or if I'm thinking of a different program that did, but I think the last time I selected it I went with anti-alias x4 which should blur the lines the most to my knowledge
Thank you for getting this video up so quickly - warts and all. I’m still going to get it because of the print volume and resolution.
Resolution is amazing on that thing. I’m sure I will be running into way less issues when its officially supported in Lychee and Chita
What do you recommend for settings? I’m having a profoundly hard time getting mine to print anything bigger than 2” tall.
I had the exact same issues in the Photon Workshop with the original Photon Mono. When I heard back from Anycubic, their final response was "Try a different slicer".... Completely useless. This was before any of the other companies had file formats for the Mono. I have since changed over to Elegoo printers and Chitubox
Hi i just got a 6k but my stock settinges is soooo slow would you share how you got it this fast ?
Big love from Denmark :D
Hallo, nice print 👍 what for Print Settings are use for the flexible Dragon ??? Thanks
Would you say the price difference between the regular mono and the 6x is worth the significant price increase?
What are your settings for both the resin and te printer? I plan tu buy one and use that type of resin for the 3x2.
Hi, does chitubox already solve for this Printer?
For the build separation (from the build plate) issues, use a heat gun (or hair dryer) and warm up the build table. I know it's a pain but well worth it.
I was wondering if temp in my room might have caused that. Thanks will give that a try
@@UncleJessy Good luck, I know it's a pain but so are failed prints! : )
Oh and I almost forgot, I can print in a super cold room this way, it's all about the first few layers!
@@UncleJessy hey I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else so it may help in the future. But you can use chito supported files with workshop hallowed or not. You just need to export as an STL file and open it with 3D builder which is a free 3d windows program that's likely already installed on your computer. It'll give you an option to "repair" the file once it's open which fixes those weird artifacts that workshop gets when slicing! Hope that helps.
Is the Yellow plastic shield actually fully uv protected? I have had issues with sun getting through my regular mono when it's next to the window well the sun is out and the sun curing some of the resin in the vat. Not fun cleaning up and all I want is it to be close to an open window
not 100%. you need lid on the vat or cover for all printer
Oh man. This is pretty much the Pandora's Box of stupid we all were bracing for when Chitu locked down their file format and it looks to be just as annoying as expected. On the plus side, the hardware looks really promising! I'd suggest trying a print with 0.035mm layer height to really get the maximum detail out of it, since that will make physical pixels pretty much square. (Like the Mars 3)
Are you going to be working up a set of vids on the new Mono X 6Ks model?
Is this fixed yet?SERIOUSLY thinking of buying the 6x
What do you use to make it look like the print is just coming right out of the vat?
THANKS MAN!!! I torn between the Saturn from Elegoo or an Anycubic machine. Something with a larger bed than my current Creality LD-002r.
Did you clean and drain the vat each time you did a new print? Or did you keep the resin the vat and just printed something else?
You only need to clean out the vat when a print has failed or you're changing colours. You're cleaning it to remove failed prints that are stuck to the FEP and any free floating chunks of resin. If solid resin chunks are still in the vat, when you start the next print, the build plate comes down and presses the chunk into the screen, and the FEP or screen will break before the resin does. If you leave resin in your vat, it should be good for a few days just give it a stir and don't leave the printer exposed to light.
Jessy, could you explain what you did to fix the separation issue you had on that one print. I’m having the same problem with my Phrozen Mega 8k and I’m not sure what is causing it. I have tried the recommended settings and made some tweaks but it still separates.
Probably the platform ist not perfect flat, try to grinding a little
@@noway8233 Well I was able to do a full build plate print for something smaller that printed fine, so I think it is flat enough. This just started when I tried to print something larger but it doesnt get very far before splitting now. It is like the base layers are stuck to the plate but then tge transition layers are separating.
What is this resin?
In 2023 now, what is the best resin printer and the best fdm printer for you? Thank you
I have a SLA laser resin printer that was doing the same thing. I preheat the resin and print with a little heater inside the enclosure. It stopped doing that.
Hey there love the videos! I had a question for you. When I print directly on the build plate with my elegoo mars 2 pro I get some hangover edge that I always have to sand down. Is this normal or can it be fixed?
Working w my 6k for almost a week now and my worst nightmare are confirmed. There's no other reliable slicer solution other than Photon Shitshop at the moment. Lychee is great and it exports the new 6K pwmb format but anything w medium and light supports (on small 20mm x 20mm sized parts) results in the model being torn off supports. Just been told that heavy supports are the way to go in Lychee but that would be like attaching sausages to a Lego brick. Not sure that would be the cleanest solution for support removal.
Could you please revisit this printer for a proper review now that the slicer software has been updated?
Hey Jessy! I appreciate the video. I just got the 6K a few days ago. I have an Elegoo Mars 2 and am "fairly" familiar with settings. However, all I've been able to print successfully is the TEST Print Anycubic Cube. I've used it five times and everything has had "supports" failures. I'm using Siraya Fast Navy Grey, and have used the default settings, the settings the test print came with and other recommended settings. Again, several failures, maybe a 10% success rate for what's on the build plate. Any suggestions for settings? Could I send you my settings and you tell me what you think? I'm pretty disappointed and am second guessing my choice. :( I AM using Lychee. Any guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!!! - Tom
I printed the dragon on a Artillery Genius and it printed super good!
Quick Question.
Have you tried the superfast Water washable Resin from 3D Materials?
I Love it and i think it will be my go to Resin.
Especially the Amber one.
Would Love to hear your opinion on that.
We really need a tour of the rest of your set up. You have so much and I have no idea where you keep all of this stuff lol.
Haha I have been debating on doing a little tour… problem is… i have to actually clean everything up first 🤣
You should pass the challenge to another maker/streamer, start this resin war!!!
How would this compare to the 8k printers or anycubics photon ultra in terms of detail. I'm looking at getting a resin printer for super detailed miniatures but with so many things coming out.. my brain can't keep up lol.
Great content as usual!
Thats exactly how I feel before black friday
Hey Uncle Jesse, love your videos always, just wanted to know which resin you used for this video?
Did you have to clean the vat and filter the resin after every fail ?
You need to clean out the vat when a print has failed.
That pixel issue happens on all of their machines, its so annoying but it only happens on hollowed prints. I have the 4k version and I struggle so badly with hollowed prints I've pretty much given up with them
There is a protective film on the screen with the same peel tag on extra screen protector. Instructions sheet say: "The screen protector under the protective film..." so I think there is already a screen protector pre-installed, so you installed a screen protector on top of another screen protector.
My standard mono x prints at 1s normal layer exposure and 18s bottom layer. Had an issue out of box with the firmware but the after sales team sent me a firmware that isn't available on the website but it made my printer print stupidly fast. The test print they sent with the firmware had settings to print at 0.8s for normal layer exposure. But yeah sorry you don't like the photon workshop slicer Uncle Jessy, I haven't had any issues with it since I've started 3D printing a year ago.
Hmm so do I get the 4K or wait for the 6k?
I dunno if it’s just me but every Anycubic product i have bought has had issues. I really want to like them but Inhate having 6 printers that have all broken at one time or another while my other printers/products have lasted just as long with no issues. Maybe I just have bad luck
3:39 What phenemenon is it in Resin printing. Like we say warping in FDM 3D printing.
I've been waiting for this to come out hopefully they fix the slicer issues soon.
Its not a slicer issue. He didnt fix the files (had no single issue with the mono x 6k so far)
Crazy ive a cheap acer laptop and anycubic workshop works fine fast response to hollowing out adding supports etc i just done like it now because the support menu is hidden away now its not at rhe right side like lychee
Will Antialiasing work with this machine?
When exporting sliced files for another slicer, they are always corrupted and have to be repaired. Thats not a Photon Workshop issue. You would have the same Problem when exporting in photon Workshop and slice in lychee / chitubox
problem not in sliced file. sliced file is ready printer file. pre supported or hollowed 3d model in stl not pre sliced file.
So it will be sharper than the 4k... but it's got teething issues and it may well be worth waiting for their file format to be supported elsewhere.
Thanks for the video and info ^_^
I have an Anycubic Mono X 4K and it prints really good, but the slicer that was sent with it is total crap, and I now have Lychee Pro and it works really well!
Can anyone give me slicer settings for Lychee? I literally cannot get a single print to adhere to my new mono X 6k. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone post settings for me.
Hello sir
I graduated from the university of jewelry and i want to start my own business in 3d models jewelry i searched the net for 3d printers and iam confused what to buy iam confused between phrozen sonic 4k and elegoo mars 2 pro
Please help me and recommend a printer to start my work
I use sonic mini 4k for jewelry Molds for 1 year & happy with it, have ordered the new 8k mini & waiting patiently for it
the slicer issue fixed yet?
Silicon /Rubber soft Materials 3D printing,, would You show us what is out there ?
Thanks for the video👍
i expect it come with MicroLED where balck is black and contras ratio is 100.000:1 JBD display already have that display.
Why would they send out a evaluation machine that has such bad software compatibility issues?
Paper printing is so much easier - just hit Print. No messing with pixels and supports, slicing, converting (save for the occasional inkjet smudge). I hope 3d printing also becomes simple and robust.
I got the mono x 2 weeks ago, so far its failed prints after failed prints. so much so the fep that came with it is shot. not my first resin printer, so far is a head ache.
Helllo,Any update for these failures?
Hello. greetings from Portugal. I make models of vehicles for reduced scale. and it is normal in construction to overwrite parts during construction. in anycubic's slicer all these parts appear and when it prints they look like pillars..... but if we put the same file in chitubox, that doesn't happen. I've reported this problem to anycubic many times, but their slicer remains the same. they have good printers, i have two.... but i prefer the competition slicer (chitubox). Best regards Carlos
I get same artifacts if files are edited in CHITUBOX ( supports, hollow ) and then saved as .stl to be sliced in Photon Workshop. I'm getting rid of artifacts by placing .stl file in windows 3d builder. 3D builder automatically detects that file needs to be repaired. Then all i have to do click repair and wait. After repairing is finished .stl can be sliced in Photon Workshop without any artifacts. I read that repair also can be done in Meshmixer. If sliced in chitubox using Mono profile - no artifacts. Printer Photon Mono.
Loot Studios bases print best flat on the plate. Their pre*supports for bases just don't work.
The slicing issue is unfortunate. Looking forward to the reprints when everything is sorted considering the quality looks very promising. I'm gonna be getting a resin printer around black friday or cyber monday I can't wait!
Might be some of the best looking prints I've had on any resin printer... can't wait till Lychee & Chitu have it supported
hi
Hey now!
There’s 3 different exposure time categories ,what should each be set to for best results?
The Dragon is Shenron from Dragon Ball
Thank you.
