Only video I've seen that actually explains how to use the blue nut for cleaning the filter. Great stuff ! Thanks for being detailed about it!

Looks like an alternative to the Lifestraw with a few more features for added versatility.

Sawyer are really starting to build a name, and they do seem like a better option in terms of functionality.
These one can direct filter with squeezing, or work pretty well for gravity fed options overnight aswell.

would have loved to see you actually put water through it -- I got a squeeze micro in 2021 during one of the early runs and the thing doesn't flow AT ALL. i've see other people wonder if they got "duds" and sawyer has remained pretty quiet about it despite their claims of equal or better flow than the full size squeeze. have you given yours a shot and if so how is it?

Filters usually need to be primed before first use - hold the filter up to a mains water tap & turn it on full. It will force the water through, and once fully wet, the filter will draw better.
      Hope that helps

@@SnowysOutdoors already did all that, that's not the issue. plenty of people all over youtube and reddit have had the same complaints about the micro for years now. i even contacted sawyer and they told me to soak it in ~120F water for 10, 20, 30 minutes.... nada

This looks great, well thought out & versatile. Curious, how do you know when it is time to replace it?

They have a lifespan of around 375,000L with regular back flushing - so they should last a really long time.
I'd say it'd just be a matter of roughly working out how much you've used it

Thanks Lauren, I did already do a rough calculation & well worth the price. The keeping track wouldn’t be that hard I guess, just remembering to do it 🤣

I noticed the Mini Sawyer and the Micro Sawyer very similar price, my question: How do you differentiate between the two or can you give me an example where one is better than the other?

The Micro Squeeze comes with a backflush coupling so you can easily clean it out mid trip if needed, and has a slightly higher flow rate better suited for gravity filtering.
If you're not wanting to gravity filter, or expecting to be filtering heavily soiled water where backflushing will be required, the Mini is a good option.

I can sip water out of an old coke bottle because they changed the plastics in the bottles to make them safe to drink from.

Pretty sure they have the 28mm thread, so could be a good option.
