I live in a mobile home and used a combination of a space heater, hair dryer, and dumped warm water from a bottle down one of the drains. after about 3 hours the pipes thawed, I've had my water trickling ever since. never letting this happen again! lol.

I just happened to click on ur video 1st but then went bk & looked at some others to compare because we woke this morn (12/24/22!) to NO WATER AT ALL, pipes frozen! I did leave water on in both bath tubs & sinks, also kitchen sink but, I have feeling I didn’t leave enough water flowing AND, never left the HOT WATER on, only cold! Really glad I came bk to ur video, U really made “Understanding it” BETTER! Now it’s time to see what I can do underneath home in the COLDEST 30-45 mph Freezing winds I think I’ve ever experienced! (-23 W.C.!) Just wanted to Thank You for making ur video for ppl like me that, don’t know what their doing, as simple as possible! Now, it’s time to bundle up & put what u just taught me, TO WORK! Hopefully I can come bk to ya to let u know…it did & water is flowing! Thanks for taking the time u did by doing this video w/diagrams, it’s def the best outta all I looked at!🙏🏻❤️🤘🏻💜✌🏻❤️

OH wow, I'm in the exact same boat as you, had no idea and mine are the same as yours, no water, except a few seconds trickle. Turned off main water, but I have NO heat tape and can't get any. I don't know what to do, and don't want the pipes to bust. At least you fixed yours! I can't do that and don't know how to handle this. Just like you, temps in negatives, no warm up till MOnday, really Tuesday. Thanks, at least I know I'm not alone in sitution.

@@tiffbee I ended up turning my water off outside, underneath my home, to keep the pressure off pipes then, I turned my heat up to 82 degrees inside, which is what another video said to try (80-85!) because the heat ducts are right underneath most of the waterlines, it’s been touch & go with trying this way because pipe could be frozen beneath the insulation, underneath heat duct but, this is when I found out my heat tape is NOT working anymore! Its now been over 4 hrs since doing this and I am seeing a trickle of water coming out bathtub faucet but nothing out of any other faucets so, keeping water off outside, all cupboard doors open where there’s faucets and keeping heat up all Nt🥵 I’m hoping water turns fr a drippy trickle to a stream!🤞🏻If pipes do unthaw, u want to let the water stream very slow at 1st then slowly turn it up, taking at least 5 mins to turn it all the way up, that’s in case theres still ice chunks in pipes! I’ll post again Tom. to let u know how this works! Wish u the best Tiff!✌🏻😊

@@vickie3906 Wow, thank you! I still have so long till it thaws, I might just leave it off till Tues. when we warm up, then deal with it. LOL We are staying nice and warm, but admittedly, the furnace isn't running much since were using space heaters. We will be hitting a heat wave by getting to 15 degrees tomorow. haha Question-at the end, where you said to turn water stream up slowly, did you mean the outside one, or the faucets once you have the main water on? We were told when we bought this, that we just have the main water shut off in the house, in case of water emergency. It was never mentioned anything under the house, so I'm not sure if we have that shut-off or not. Thank you so much for your insight, and hopefully we can get through this together.

What if you didn't have any heat tape and your pipes are completely frozen? we're in negative degrees, and won't thaw till Mon-Tues. No water at all. A little came out of the tub. Just for a few seconds. What do I do? Wait till it warms up? My main water inside is shut off, but havn't gotten underneath. WHen it thaws, should I leave my main water off? I have white mold on the wall of the water heater btw. Its been that way for awhile, but can't get the panel off to get in there. Thanks for the video! I just have a tougher situatiuon.

Randy, what about the plumbing leaving the toilets or tub, do I need to heat tape that? Currently the toilet won’t flush, yes I used a plunger, wondering if it may have froze. There is water to the tank. I dumped a bucket of water it didn’t go down right away. Now that I checked it 30 min later some of it went. So I tried hot water in the tub. It started to drain now it’s just sitting there. When it was draining water bubbles comming up the toilet. It’s been really cold here, -34c today. So, should I be doing something re heating plumbing?

Hello, it sounds like you have a low spot in your main under the home. Does any drain in the house flow? If no it’s the main drain. If yes it’s that area only before the tee. See other video I have about mobile home drains

I’m sure by now your thawed but problems like this happen when your P trap is exposed. P traps hold a little water in a small U below the drain, like under the bathroom sink, and that small amount of water freezes creating your clog. This water holds out sewer gas from entering the home. Putting hot water in the tub takes a while but helps. Hot air from under the home directly on the trap solves it but still takes a while. Use both together for best results. Add large volume of insulation to the trap before the next freeze and if it’s close to the skirting there, insulate inside the skirting in that area. Thanks for the reply

    -7°F & 11mph wind...
It 5am, my cold water isn't working, but right now the warm/hot is working, but idk for how long. I thought i heard something & Idk why I didn't think much of it, until now.
Only 1 place the cold is wokring right now is my bathroom sink.
    No cold water anywhere else
(No water to the toilet either).
Right now the hot water works,
But I havent heard my water heater running yet, so I'm worried about that too.

Let all the faucets drip of course, turn up the furnace and run the dryer helps. If the water heater isn’t coming on it may be that you weren’t running any hot? If you were running hot and it wasn’t working did you check pilot? Outside access water heater? Get some heat in there and when flowing again, insulate the heck out of the door. Sorry to hear about your troubles

Hey all, I live in Ohio and we had a winter storm last Friday where it got down to -7 with even colder wind chills. Unfortunately I forgot to drip the water in my trailer, it's been a whole week and I've pretty much done everything I can think of to unthaw the lines including the tips in this video. My water will only come out at a steady drizzle and will build up pressure when I turn it off for a bit but after it comes blasting out for about 30seconds it returns to that small drizzle. It is now 60 degrees out and I can't really find any lines under the trailer that are that could tbh. Pls and thanks for any help I'm desperate

    • @Robnord1
      @Robnord1 ปีที่แล้ว

What you describe...pressure but no volume = restriction in line. Go to the source or hookup and check pressure and volume there. I'd have to see your hookup to give details. If lucky, there'll be a hose bibb there. If okay, move downstream fitting by fitting until restriction found.

So water usually comes in on the main and runs along the ducts down the center of the home, tee off as they pass bathroom and kitchen. Sounds like under that general area there is a tee or pipe frozen. One hot and one cold. Must have poor insulation in that area, a gap from previous work done? Lots of Heat needs to go in that area from under ho:e.

You didn't explain how to thaw the lines in the middle or far end. Heat tape is good, what do I due, try and heat the whole space under the house? There is water in the bathroom closest to the water inlet.

Turn your heat up to about 85 with all cabinet doors and drawers for about 12 hrs or more possibly. If you have floor vents it will heat everything from the insulation up. Especially the longer the heat runs the better.
