    This is another example of the value of your channel and sharing your journey with Rivian. Thanks, Duke!

    2:56 Rivian has panel gap issues. "No, say it ain't so." Panel Gaps? It's a Tesla thing right? No, most cars have panel gap issues, it was just overhyped with Tesla. Anyone in the comments go out to their car and look closely, you'll find panel gaps. It was annoying to hear reviewers mention panel gaps all the time when they never focused on gaps for any other car brand. It was weird.

      Every car has panel gaps because they have to have panel gaps. The issue isn't the gaps, it's uneven gaps. Usually, a millimeter or two difference is unnoticeable to the human eye. My Audi has perfect panel gaps all around. My Jeep has decent panel gaps, but not as good as the Audi.

      Thanks! I really appreciate it! If I had the lotto numbers I would be too busy relaxing on the beach😅

    Why can't you tell us what the defect actually is in the content of the liner notes above?

    Thanks for sharing this. I believe it was myself who you were referring to on instructions to solve the headlight issue. Solving problems is in my DNA so it was the first thing I went to learn about the vehicle. Couldn’t see how it would affect the warranty as all headlights are serviceable, from every manufacturer. I checked with support and they didn’t confirm it would void any warranty by correcting the headlight position. For those curious on self solving, instructions are great to have. Hope that’s helpful. 🤙🏻

      I did all the research to repair them myself, however, on page 154 of the Owner's Guide it says "If you notice reduced visibility, contact Rivian. The headlights are not user-serviceable."

      @oury2442 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thedukeofmanville I noticed that, as well. Those not comfortable making adjustments shouldn’t.
      Though it does not say it would void any warranty if done. Either way, the headlights need to be corrected for safety and it’s good to know how to self solve when service isn’t an option.

    I have the exact same color as yours! January delivery here. Rear liftgate manufactered with a 2 degree slant off center and it had one of the rear tailights that are on the liftgate itself "squished". Driver and passenger side door panels were fine - but the fenders around the drivers, passengers, and the hood itself were all misaligned. Missing plug clips in the frunk near the A pillar. Stitching not perfectly straight on the steering wheel. Maddening rattle behind the dash. All around very crappy fit/finish for a $85k vehicle. That said, I expected a bit of this with a new car manufacturer. Rivian had me drive 4 hours to Atlanta to leave it with them - they had it sent to a body shop to replace the lift gate, and address the front hood/fender stuff, rattle, and stitching.
    When I got it back, it was addressed 90%. The stitching was still off, and the hood/fender issues were only noticeable by my OCD eyes. The rattle was fixed, but during the repair, they dinged a speaker grille on the dash. That was fixed with an at-home visit a few weeks later, but then the rattle is back. I still see a lot of minor gaps between the plastic lower body moldings and the painted metal parts. If I lived in a salty climate these would just be picking up salt/mud to scratch into the clearcoat between the two parts... how they think this stuff "passes" for quality escapes me.
    I'm still long on Rivian... overall I love my R1S, and just need to stay on top of the quality bits until they fix them all. We all need to be a pain in their sides, so they can get better for regular consumers.

      A $100k vehicle should not have any of these issues when my $40k Mazda doesn't.

    Looked over my R1T closely after watching your video and discovered my driver side door is misaligned, but not in the same spot. Mine is sticking out at the bottom back of the door (gap between front and back doors). Service request submitted.

      Thanks! But this might be coincidence of timing, but its good to see they are serious about fixing the issue.

    Thanks I had my Rivian for about 100 miles before I had to open a service ticket for the tire ball joints popping and cracking. Now this hopefully this is not a sign of things to come. Plus the service delays are a huge pain in the butt.

    Picked up 2024 R1T (Dual motor in Limestone) today, hope they resolved any issues with recalls and such before our delivery. Kyle our delivery person was super helpful and knowledgeable about all things Rivian, I’m confident they took care of the issues ahead of time.

      I hope so too! They are awesome vehicles that get better with time, and my 2023 R1T is Limestone as well. Great color choice!

    LE 2022 R1T...no panel gaps, seat belt issues or headlight problems. Tonneau cover still works. Haven't had any service requirements to date.

    • @thedukeofmanville
      @thedukeofmanville  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The seat belt issue is only for the R1S. The panel gaps on my 2023 R1T are pretty good, and the panel gaps on the 2024 R1S are even better except for the door gap that I pointed out. However, my R1Ts driver's side door window trim did fly off on the highway. The service center repaired it. Even still , they are the best vehicles on the road IMO.

    Thank you for having content that covers the positive and the negative aspects of the Rivian. Sometimes, when you love a brand/vehicle, people will label you a stan. You do a great job of not shying away from criticizing Rivian when warranted. Great vid!!

    You have probably one of the best EV ownership channels. You are very transparent with how things look, how it wears, and how well the service works. I am thinking about making the Rivian R1S my first EV vehicle and you are making it that much more of an easier decision for me!

    • @thedukeofmanville
      @thedukeofmanville  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am glad you are getting value from the channel. My goal is to provide the audience with as much information as possible so they can make informed decisions. The R1S is an awesome SUV, but its not perfect. Is there any particular content you would like to see?
      Thanks for sharing!

      @@thedukeofmanville I started to see articles about EV tires wearing out faster than Gas car tires. Have you noticed any difference in tire wear? Do you have to worry about getting your tires rotated? Can you take them to the local Jiffy Lube (or other place that offers tire services)? Are you able to change the filter in your car? I currently have a Nissan Rogue and the location for the in-air cabin filter is in a terrible spot where I can't really do it by myself. Thanks again!

    I’ve had my 2023 R1T in service twice in the last 6 months. Air suspension issues, memory module failure, AC charger failure…starting to get worried 🤔

    • @thedukeofmanville

      That's too bad. I haven't had any issues close to that. My 2023 R1T has been awesome so far.

    I asked the service center about the driver side door not sitting flush with the fender. They said it’s within spec and it’s intentionally little bit inside than the fender to reduce wind noise. I don’t agree with them but it doesn’t bother me. I checked other cars in the lot and most of them were similar.

    • @thedukeofmanville

      They corrected mine and it looks a lot better.

      They corrected mine, but haven't improved much.

    • @Mostly-Sunny
      @Mostly-Sunny 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They didn’t correct any of my panel gaps and said everything is in specs. One thing that they tried to correct themselves that I didn’t ask was the trunk gap and they made it so worst that the gate started scraping the chrome trim when you open the door. I asked them to revert the adjustment and it took them two attempt to correct it.
      My two biggest issues with my car are the rattling inside the cabin and the newly discovered front suspension clunk in a bad patch of road at 40mph. Reading the forums looks like it’s also “by design”.
