Loved getting to see the behind the scenes sneak peek of you filming this. I completely agree about how atrocious our current grocery store meat quality has gotten.
Yes you are right about the water l used to work at a grocery store and they got in trouble for taking ice and grinding it up with the ground beef to make the weight be heavier
I learned all about parchment paper from you and the ways to use it plus reusing it. Your meatloaf is beautiful as ever looking very delish! Love you Mrs. Bev, thank you ❤❤❤❤
It's why I buy meat at my local butcher. He gets his meat from local farmers. I babysat him and his sister until they were teenagers. He gives me the best deals. Your meatloaf looked so good, Bev. I like chunky ground beef idea much better than small pieces. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Much love from Thunder Bay Ontario
I can't wait until we get the cuts sheets for our side of beef and the pig. Although we were warned that the hogs are a little on the lean/small side this year. I will be happy to not have to buy from the store. Thank God for local farmers!
I also put a can of petite dice tomatoes or a can of stewed or crushed tomatoes. I have to have the tomato . And ice the top with ketchup or Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce.
Love meatloaf! Especially my meatloaf! I remember as a teen I was invited to my boyfriends house for dinner and his mom's meatloaf tasted like dog food from the can. I'm glad I only took a small piece of it!
I have a loaf pan especially made for meatloaf. It has holes in the bottom of it so the grease drains out and all you have to do is raise the insert up when the meatloaf is done. I think I got mine off if Amazon. I also put some Worcestershire sauce in my meatloaf and green pepper and of course ketchup on the top too or a mixture of brown sugar ketchup and a little mustard and put on meatloaf and put back in the oven. It creates a glaze on top. It is delicious.
We got 80/20 beef for $1.99 if you bought 10#. I am going to try pepperidge stuffing mix in my next meat loaf. Did you ever try it? When I make any meat and I want to give my dog some I do not put onions in it. In time it does damage to their blood I think not sure. I worry when you feed the dog some. God Bless love watching your videos.
7:08 - can you boil that grease down and use it for something? Sure you can! I have done that and used it to make firestarters with that and sawdust. I put them in an old broken ice cube tray and let them get solid, then put them in a bag or coffee can.
you can put it in the fridge in a bowl. take the grease off the top when hard. Then you can "wash" the fat several times. You just add it to water...boil and chill. Each time you do that (starting with fresh water each time ) more debris from the fat will pour off in the water. you can take it right down to tallow/lard!
I have. I cook it fully then let it cool a bit so that I can wash it in a bowl of warm to hot water in a bowl with my hands, drain it and repeat the process until the meat does not feel greasy, flavor it if I want to then dehydrate it. I've done turkey and chicken also. So good to make for hiking meals
I was just thinking need to make a meatloaf. Nice how many jars you got. Squeeze that nickel to the last drop! Gracie is such a sweety. Take care. Sorry I have been away. He;ping daughter thru chemo treatments. 2 more then 12 done another scan after Thanksgiving. Life has been busy but rewarding.
hi Mrs. Wolfie. But what do you do with the grease and juice from the hamburger? Also, does the hamburger get really mushy after you cook it and then can it? I love the video!
I don’t can without water or broth. The water heats at a different speed than air . You run a risk of botulism doing so. With the cost of meat and not risking someone’s life over something so simple as a bit of broth or water.

Meatloaf is a favorite. My family requested that for Thanksgiving instead of turkey. I will oblige! Gracie is too cute!
I would MUCH rather make meatloaf than turkey!

We have that knife. It is amazing. Cuts through anything like pumpkins, squash and turnip.❤
Looks so good Bev! Love me good ol Mealoaf!! I always buy half and half (half beef/half pork) to cut my cost.
Hi Beverly. I must give this a try. Time saver later for quick meal!

5:24 - when i lived in a house, i used to make my meatloaf using a glass bread pan that i greased with (secret sauce) - bacon grease.
Would love your bread recipie. Looks great for sandwiches
I noticed that too, way too much water in ground beef,
great job
Thank you!
Made my first meatloaf from a box a stuffing this week wasn't bad but I like oats better... I will have to give bread crumbs a try
Hugs Gracie

Leftover bread? If you have apples left, it may be time for an Apple Pan Betty😊!

Gracie says "you ordered meatloaf dad but it was for me too" 😂
😂😂😂❤
meatloaf looks good
Oh, I thought you had to add liquid if the meat was already cooked. I've been using beef broth in canning my hamburger.
No, the only rule is when your canning ground meat is the ground meat has to be cooked. You can add broth but it's not necessary.
Have you ever thought about dehydrating it?
I have. I have dehydrated ground beef. I just cook it and then put it in a sieve. And I run it under hot hot hot water to get rid of grease.

Thanks for updating us honey! We will keep you all in our prayers!

not mushy at all. I gave the grease and juice to Gracie in her kibble. I usually only keep bacon fat.
It may say that it's ground beef but who's not to say it's not pink slime
❤

I thought you needed to add liquid to any cooked meat you're canning. And no liquid when canning raw meat.
Ground beef can be dry packed. You should NEVER raw pack ground meats. But Yes you can add broth to it if you choose.
@@OurHalfAcreHomestead thank you!
There are videos on canning pumpkin puree. You say we shouldn't do that. Why?
Men are so stingy with their meat samples!you're a born teacher!!
