I’m only 29, but I find that as I get older I sweat more in my head as well. Think I’m going to be a stretched natural by just blow drying & get silk presses for the maintenance like you advised. My hair is thick like yours so braids outs & flexi rods do me just fine. 😊
I am heat trained and over the past few years, I’ve noticed that I sweat more in my head. I know it is recommended to wear a silk or satin scarf, but I don’t know how people wear this on their head and don’t sweat! I always have to wear some kind of polyester blend in order to help my hair stay smooth. I also tend to sweat in my crown area, and my hair has the annoying habit of holding the crinkle after the hair has been in a ponytail. I try to wrap my hair every night to keep it as stretched out as possible. When I was younger, I didn’t have these issues, but I guess our body changes as we get older. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Shell, you did a really good job on her hair! I am already in Menopause and I am a straight natural even though I still get hot flashes sometimes my hair really flourishes when it is straight and it stays straight until I wash it. It took me some time but I did a lot of research and figured out what works for my hair type. My hair is very healthy so it doesn't revert when it's humid outside. TFS 💜
My hair used to revert badly & ends would never straighten, and i live in Southern CA where it’s hardly ever humid. I think part of it was dryness. September i got the Chi Enviro Smoothing treatment & my hair was everything-proof😍. I got it again after 6 months and i think i’m hooked🤭 I’ve been silk pressing on & off since the first treatment. I’ll do it twice a month, then wear it curly for about a month & go back & forth. Now i really only revert at my edges/nape. My hair is much more manageable now & healthier than when it was always in a wash n go or braids. Don’t know if it’s the treatment or the heat training but i think i’ve found something that works 🤗
Question here! So are you saying in general that individuals who sweat in their head aren’t candidates for heat training? I sweat in my head and workout often but I really desire to heat train. My hair is naturally so coily that I see way more retention when it’s straight (plus I just enjoy the look). But I don’t want to fully go back to a relaxer. Any advice?
I’m having a problem with my hair getting frizzy on the ends and I noticed this silk press I just got my roots are getting puffy! I am 42 and I sweat also! I get 2 to 3 silk presses a year!
I want to heat train but I exercise 3 to 4 times per week. I only get silk presses when it's time for a trim (every 2 months) and they only last for as long as i stay out the gym 😂 which is about one to days after. I wear half wigs with a headband as a protective style otherwise.
Hi I was looking at one of your silk press video and you mentioned that you were located in Wisconsin and are you taking new clients? I live in Illinois
What she said in another video is that when your hair is straight as opposed to curly, you can better see the condition of your ends and determine if you need to trim them. So, getting the trims if you need them helps the health of the hair according to her.
you're amazing Shell! If I wash, blowdry and flatiron my hair every 1 to 2 weeks at home is that "heat training"? I just call it doing my hair. The goal was never to loosen my natural texture (and it never did🤣). Is it "heat training" only when you go to a stylist to get it done since they tend to use higher heat, like with titanium tools instead of ceramic. Am I still misunderstanding the term?
It just means styling the hair with heat in a deliberate effort to make it more manageable. That could result in texture changes. You’re keeping it in a heat stretched state for maintenance. Doesn’t matter if using professional tools or not, it’s an old term that predates the titanium/ceramic irons
October 2023 I got my hair bleached in the front and silk pressed. I go back every 3 weeks to get it treated and pressed again. (It’s just the easiest way for me to maintain my hair. I hate doing hair. I used to wear braids a lot but got tired of them). I usually wear a side part to the right, which is bleached. I think this part of my hair is starting to thin and fall out. It’s kinda hard to tell right now. But I can’t run my fingers through it without hair constantly coming out. Same for the other side but it’s still thick and growing. I think because I don’t touch it as much. Is there a way I can keep it from falling out? I oil it and my scalp with coconut oil every other day. And I don’t use any heat between appointments. Other than that the unbleached parts of my hair is really growing. I have bad social anxiety and sometimes am scared to ask my stylist questions. Also I can usually keep it looking fresh for about 2 weeks before it reverts but for some reason this time it only lasted me a few days.
Hoq does getting two silk presses per year help the health of your hair? Seems like that would do nothing. What are you doing the rest of rhe year? Roller sets? Blow dries?
Great info, making the excess sweating stop within 2 days was so much more than I expected, I went with what I talked about last week and after the first day or so I was very surprised to start feeling much more comfortable and dry! I went ahead and go'ogled Cynthia Yulesin’s Stop Sweating Today and after 72 hours I now sweat like a “normal” person lol

My hair sweats all the time. I straighten it with my maintenance cuts I wear it curly most of the time. I love my curls.
Even with her dealing with what she dealing with her hair still turned out amazing and looks healthier! you did a great job

Do you drink caffeine? Our diet can cause us to sweat more as well.
I don’t drink caffeine at all! I do drink a lot of herbal teas though.
@@DS-Trinadrink more water than herbal tea, to stop/reduce the sweat
This is exactly what I was looking for, menopause is hard on my silk presses so I stopped. I need to find something besides braids.

Lauren, you’re sending me down a research rabbit hole. I want to know all about this treatment. Thank you for mentioning it.
Thank you for this I'm looking it up now ❤

Would really love to see an answer to this xx
Blow dry styles that aren’t silky straight might work
Lovely finish
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to visit a salon again😂 my hair would be TOO EXPENSIVE
For your budget
@ I don’t even go to salons I can do my own hair, that’s why it’s down to my bum
I sweat in my head so bad. I’m pre- menopausal as well.
I’m having a problem with my hair getting frizzy on the ends and I noticed this silk press I just got my roots are getting puffy! I am 42 and I sweat also! I get 2 to 3 silk presses a year!
I used to sweat a lot in my scalp and found out that I have a hyperthyroid/Grave’s Disease. After medication, the sweating has decreased quite a bit.
Excited to see this!
I wish I could go to you. Do you know of nay stylists in South Florida that care for the health of the hair?

Are your hair care products just for natural hair? I have relaxed hair and I wanted to buy your products. Just curious. Thank you.
Hi I was looking at one of your silk press video and you mentioned that you were located in Wisconsin and are you taking new clients? I live in Illinois
The client hair turned out pretty
Can you explain how flatironing twice a year will help the health of the hair? Im a bit confused.

I Botox the front part of my head to reduce sweating
I think my hair revert back when I do I flat iron my hair because I think my hair is blowout good but I guess is not

Yes that would be Heat Training but flat ironing that often long term is something I don’t recommend.
@@shelltalkshair Thanks, Love. I currently don't do that anymore. I just Blow dry to stretch and I only Flat Iron every 3 or 4 months to trim my ends.
@@mamat1213 Thank you for the clarification. I understand now.🤓
Love this video and the information that you shared.
How do you feel about smoothing treatments?
Here for the reply
Also here for the reply. Like the amino acid treatments
Here too, want to know lol
I need to know, as well.
Yup menopause! It will revert

That advice didn’t make any sense. Flat ironing twice per year helps your hair???
